Abstract

Profiling Self-Regulated Learning and ICT Utilization among Chemistry Education Students in the Digital Era. In the digital era, chemistry education faces dual challenges: fostering students’ self-regulated learning (SRL) while optimizing the use of information and communication technology (ICT). This study aims to profile the levels of SRL and the extent of ICT utilization among chemistry education students, providing insights into how both aspects intersect in supporting academic success. A descriptive quantitative design was employed, involving 26 third-year chemistry education students at Universitas Negeri Makassar. Data were collected through two instruments: an SRL questionnaire covering dimensions of goal setting, planning, time management, learning strategies, self-monitoring, motivation, and self-reflection, and an ICT utilization questionnaire addressing access to digital resources, use of learning applications, participation in online discussions, digital collaboration, and creativity in ICT-supported chemistry learning. Responses were analyzed using descriptive statistics and thematic analysis of open-ended items. The results revealed that students’ SRL abilities ranged from moderate to high, with notable strengths in goal setting, planning, and reflection, but persistent challenges in time management and independent study. In contrast, ICT utilization was consistently high across all dimensions, showing strong reliance on digital resources and collaborative tools. A comparative analysis indicated that students rely more on external ICT support than on internal self-regulatory strategies. The study concludes that while ICT integration in learning is robust, strengthening SRL remains essential to balance technology use with sustainable learning autonomy. These findings suggest the need for instructional designs that deliberately embed SRL-enhancing components into ICT-based learning, aligning with the demands of the digital era and the pursuit of quality education

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan profil beban kognitif ekstrinsik mahasiswa International Class Program (ICP) Pendidikan IPA dalam pembelajaran English for Subject Matter (ESM) Science Learning berbasis translanguaging. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif deskriptif dengan desain survei potong lintang yang melibatkan 32 mahasiswa Universitas Negeri Makassar. Data dikumpulkan menggunakan kuesioner beban kognitif ekstrinsik skala Likert lima tingkat yang terdiri atas 33 item pada enam aspek, dengan validitas isi yang baik (Aiken’s V = 0,81) dan reliabilitas tinggi (Cronbach’s alpha=0,89). Analisis data dilakukan secara deskriptif melalui perhitungan rerata dan simpangan baku. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa beban kognitif ekstrinsik bervariasi antar-aspek, dengan istilah IPA berbahasa Inggris sebagai sumber beban kognitif ekstrinsik paling dominan (M=4,49), sementara strategi translanguaging dan kejelasan instruksi menunjukkan tingkat beban yang rendah. Temuan ini menegaskan bahwa pengelolaan terminologi IPA lebih menentukan dibandingkan bahasa pengantar dalam meminimalkan beban kognitif ekstrinsik pada pembelajaran IPA berbahasa Inggris.

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the trends of pedagogical interventions, implementation contexts, and learning outcomes reported in studies on Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based chemistry learning. The study employed a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) design guided by the PRISMA 2020 framework. Data were collected through a literature search in relevant academic databases, namely Scopus, Web of Science, ERIC, and Google Scholar, using purposive sampling based on predetermined inclusion and exclusion criteria. The research instruments consisted of an article screening sheet and a data extraction matrix covering author, year, research context, chemistry topic, type of AI, research design, sample, instrument, main findings, and research gaps. The data were analyzed using thematic narrative analysis of 15 primary studies that met the eligibility criteria. The findings revealed four major themes in the use of AI in chemistry learning: AI as a tutor/chatbot/learning assistant, AI in virtual and immersive learning environments, perceptions and challenges of AI implementation, and AI as a support for pedagogical strategies. The review also showed that AI has primarily functioned as an instructional support system, a means of personalizing learning, and a tool for strengthening the visualization of abstract chemical concepts rather than replacing the role of the teacher. In addition, the benefits of AI were most consistently observed in improving engagement, satisfaction, and learning experience, whereas its effects on cognitive learning outcomes remained inconsistent across studies. Therefore, AI holds considerable potential for chemistry learning; however, its effective implementation requires adequate pedagogical, ethical, and institutional support.

Abstract

ABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memetakan literatur mengenai hubungan self-regulated learning (SRL) dan prestasi belajar mahasiswa dalam pembelajaran kimia. Metode yang digunakan adalah scoping review dengan mengacu pada kerangka PCC (Population, Concept, Context) dan pedoman PRISMA-ScR. Populasi dalam kajian ini adalah mahasiswa pendidikan tinggi, konsep yang dikaji adalah SRL dan konstruk terkait, sedangkan konteksnya adalah pembelajaran kimia di perguruan tinggi. Penelusuran literatur dilakukan melalui database internasional dan nasional, seperti Google Scholar, ERIC, ScienceDirect, RSC Publishing, ACS Publications, Garuda, SINTA, Neliti, dan repository perguruan tinggi. Dari 76 records yang ditelaah, 29 studi dimasukkan dalam sintesis final, terdiri atas 21 studi inti dan 8 studi perluasan. Hasil review menunjukkan bahwa dimensi SRL yang paling banyak dikaji meliputi metakognisi, self-efficacy, motivasi belajar, strategi belajar, regulasi usaha, manajemen waktu, help-seeking, dan refleksi belajar. Konteks yang paling dominan adalah kimia dasar/kimia umum, kimia organik, dan pembelajaran kimia daring atau berbasis web. Indikator prestasi belajar yang digunakan meliputi nilai mata kuliah, nilai ujian, performa kursus, pemahaman konsep, dan kemampuan problem solving. Secara umum, SRL berperan penting dalam mendukung prestasi belajar mahasiswa kimia, terutama ketika mahasiswa mampu merencanakan, memantau, mengatur, dan mengevaluasi proses belajarnya. Temuan ini menunjukkan perlunya penelitian lanjutan yang lebih sistematis mengenai SRL dalam berbagai konteks pembelajaran kimia. ABSTRACT This study aims to map the literature on the relationship between self-regulated learning (SRL) and students’ academic achievement in chemistry learning. A scoping review method was employed by using the Population, Concept, Context (PCC) framework and referring to the PRISMA-ScR guideline. The population of this review was higher education students, the concept was SRL and related constructs, and the context was chemistry learning in higher education. Literature searches were conducted through international and national databases, including Google Scholar, ERIC, ScienceDirect, RSC Publishing, ACS Publications, Garuda, SINTA, Neliti, and university repositories. Of the 76 records reviewed, 29 studies were included in the final synthesis, consisting of 21 core studies and 8 extended evidence studies. The findings show that the most frequently examined SRL dimensions were metacognition, self-efficacy, learning motivation, learning strategies, effort regulation, time management, help-seeking, and reflective learning. The most dominant chemistry contexts were basic/general chemistry, organic chemistry, and online or web-based chemistry learning. The learning achievement indicators used in the reviewed studies included course grades, examination scores, course performance, conceptual understanding, and problem-solving ability. Overall, SRL plays an important role in supporting students’ achievement in chemistry learning, particularly when students are able to plan, monitor, regulate, and evaluate their learning processes. These findings indicate the need for further systematic research on SRL across broader chemistry learning contexts, including laboratory learning, physical chemistry, analytical chemistry, and blended learning environments.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh media Nearpod pada model discovery learning terhadap hasil belajar peserta didik kelas XI KIMIA SMA Negeri 14 Makassar pada materi larutan penyangga. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah quasi eksperimen dengan pendekatan kuantitatif menggunakan posttest-only control group design. Populasi penelitian adalah seluruh kelas XI KIMIA SMA Negeri 14 Makassar yang terdiri dari 4 kelas. Pengambilan sampel ditentukan secara simple random sampling, sehingga yang menjadi kelompok eksperimen adalah peserta didik kelas XI KIMIA 7 dengan jumlah 35 orang dan kelompok kontrol adalah kelas XI KIMIA 6 dengan jumlah 36 orang. Pengambilan data dilakukan dengan pemberian tes hasil belajar. Pengolahan data penelitian ini menggunakan teknik analisis statistik deskriptif dan teknik analisis statistik inferensial. Hasil analisis deskriptif diperoleh nilai rata-rata kelompok eksperimen 84,81 dan kelompok kontrol 77,25. Hasil analisis statistik inferensial terhadap hasil belajar peserta didik menunjukkan bahwa data kelompok eksperimen dan kelompok kontrol berasal dari populasi yang tidak terdistribusi normal dan homogen sehingga pengujian hipotesis menggunakan uji Non parametrik (Mann-Whitney). Hasil uji hipotesis diperoleh Zhitung > Ztabel (2,42 > 1,66). Dengan demikian dapat disimpulkan bahwa ada pengaruh media Nearpod pada model discovery learning terhadap hasil belajar peserta didik kelas XI KIMIA SMA Negeri 14 Makassar pada materi pokok larutan penyangga.

Abstract

Natural montmorillonite has attracted considerable attention due to its high cation exchange capacity, layered structure, and potential applications as adsorbents and catalyst supports. However, it generally contains impurity oxides that affect its physicochemical properties. This study aimed to investigate the effect of inorganic acid activation on the metal oxide content and crystalline characteristics of natural montmorillonite obtained from Gowa Regency, South Sulawesi, Indonesia. The montmorillonite samples were activated using 2 M HCl and 2 M H₂SO₄ through acid leaching treatment. The metal oxide composition and crystalline phases were characterized using X-ray fluorescence (XRF) and X-ray diffraction (XRD), respectively. The XRF results revealed that Fe₂O₃ was the dominant impurity oxide in natural montmorillonite with a concentration of 31.61%. After acid activation, the Fe₂O₃ content decreased significantly to 21.78% for HCl-treated MMT and 18.83% for H₂SO₄-treated MMT, indicating effective removal of iron oxide impurities. In contrast, the SiO₂ content increased from 39.51% to 40.13% and 41.02% after HCl and H₂SO₄ activation, respectively. XRD analysis confirmed the presence of quartz silica, alumina, and hematite phases, with diffraction peaks at 2θ ≈ 26.6°, 34.2°, and 50.1°, respectively. Acid activation also reduced the average crystallite size from 41.2 nm in natural MMT to 35.1 nm and 29.9 nm after HCl and H₂SO₄ treatment, respectively. The results demonstrate that inorganic acid activation effectively modified the oxide composition and crystalline structure of natural montmorillonite, particularly through the removal of hematite impurities and enhancement of silica-rich phases. Therefore, acid-activated montmorillonite shows promising potential for adsorption and catalytic applications.

Abstract

Pencemaran air limbah oleh pewarna sintetis masih menjadi persoalan lingkungan karena molekul pewarna umumnya bersifat stabil, sulit terdegradasi, dan dapat menurunkan kualitas ekosistem perairan. Artikel review ini bertujuan menganalisis kemajuan teknologi membran adsorpsi pewarna, terutama dari aspek desain material, metode fabrikasi, mekanisme adsorpsi, indikator kinerja, stabilitas penggunaan ulang, dan tantangan implementasi. Metode yang digunakan adalah telaah pustaka berbasis sintesis tematik terhadap studi membran adsorptif berbahan polimer, biopolimer, graphene oxide, metal-organic framework, covalent organic framework, biochar, dan material hibrida lain yang dilaporkan dalam literatur terbaru. Hasil sintesis menunjukkan bahwa peningkatan kinerja membran terutama ditentukan oleh porositas, luas permukaan aktif, muatan permukaan, hidrofilisitas, dan keberadaan gugus fungsional yang mampu membentuk interaksi elektrostatik, ikatan hidrogen, tumpukan pi-pi, pertukaran ion, serta pengayakan ukuran. Membran nanokomposit dan membran fungsional responsif pH memperlihatkan kapasitas adsorpsi, selektivitas dye/salt, regenerasi, dan sifat antifouling yang lebih baik dibanding membran konvensional. Namun, sebagian besar studi masih dilakukan pada larutan model, durasi operasi singkat, dan belum sepenuhnya menguji air limbah nyata. Oleh karena itu, pengembangan membran adsorpsi pewarna selanjutnya perlu diarahkan pada fabrikasi hijau, skalabilitas, uji kontinu jangka panjang, dan evaluasi ekonomi-lingkungan
