Abstract

Indonesia is a developing country that is being intensively carrying out development. However, in carrying out development, there are positive and negative impacts. One of the negative impacts is the impact on the environment. For decades, the environment in Indonesia has become increasingly alarming, this is where the concept of sustainable development is very important to be applied so that development runs well without compromising the interests of the environment itself. This study aims to determine the characteristics and how to implement Education Sustainable Development (ESD) in Biology learning with the literature review method, namely a literature search both nationally and internationally which is carried out by reviewing thesis and journals. Based on the journal reviews that have been carried out, the understanding of Education Sustainable Development (ESD) at the high school level has increased through variations in learning models and media.

Abstract

Nowadays, environmental problems have become a global issue that is widely discussed. Environmental problems that occur are caused by climate change, the extinction of natural resources, to environmental damage caused by human activities. One of the causes of low public awareness of the environment is the low ability of community environmental literacy. One of the efforts to improve environmental literacy is through formal education by implementing learning activities that are able to improve students' environmental literacy skills. Writing this article aims to find out ways or efforts to increase students' environmental literacy in schools with the literature review method, namely, a literature search to collect data from various sources such as journals, books, the internet, and other libraries. Based on the journal reviews that have been carried out, there are several efforts that can be made to optimize or improve environmental literacy in schools, including by structuring the curriculum, conducting learning that provides direct experience supported by active learning using a variety of varied methods and its implementation can be carried out inside or outside outside the classroom, using problem-solving-based learning models, implementing adiwiyata programs, and using interesting learning media.

Abstract

The application of innovative learning media can improve students' cognitive learning outcomes on a subject matter. One interesting solution that can be applied is the application of a differentiation learning model (differentiated instruction). This study aims to analyze the application of a differentiation learning model (differentiated instruction) in improving the cognitive learning outcomes of class X students at SMA Negeri 8 Mataram in Biology subjects. This study uses Classroom Action Research (CAR) with data collection techniques in the form of cognitive learning outcome tests. In Cycle I, students' cognitive learning outcomes were 63 and the classical completeness value was 49%, thus in terms of classical completeness it was not yet complete. While the cognitive learning outcomes of students after applying the differentiation learning model in Cycle II were 92 or 87%, students managed to achieve the learning completeness criteria. The overall achievement of the class can exceed the completeness standard and further strengthen the positive impact of the learning approach using the differentiation learning model (differentiated instruction). Thus, it can be concluded that the application of the differentiation learning model (differentiated instruction) contributes significantly to improving the cognitive learning outcomes of class X students in Biology subjects at SMA Negeri 8 Mataram.

Abstract

Science literacy has become one of the skills needed to prepare a young generation that is adaptive to the advances of science and technology in the 21st century. According to research by some experts, the literacy of science students in Indonesia is still low. The reason for the poor science literacy of students is that they are not activated continuously in the learning process. Therefore, there is a need for the application of innovative learning models, one of which is the project-based learning (PjBL) model. The PjBL model phase is useful to train students to be responsible for their own learning and develop their ability to think systematically. The gender of students, consisting of men and women, is important to note because it relates to several things, including thinking skills, decision-making, and the ability to draw conclusions. All these abilities are supportive factors of student science literacy, so it is necessary to conduct a study of differential science literacy by differentiating the gender of students. The research was conducted at SMAN 7 Mataram Nusa Tenggara West (NTB) with quasi-experiments. The subject of the study is class X students, consisting of 5 parallel classes, with a total number of 126 people (44 males and 82 females). The free variable in research is the PjBL model, and the bound variable is science literacy. Research instruments for science literacy use essay questions. The results of the study showed that the average science literacy of female students is 55.99; this figure is higher than the male literacy score of 53.03. Furthermore, the Anova test result shows that the significance value at the level of 5% is 0.62 ≥ 0.05, so it can be concluded that there is no significant difference in the literacy value of male and female science students after learning using the PjBL model.

Abstract

Sustainable and environmentally conscious education is one of the strategic directions of Indonesian education in responding to global challenges, particularly the environmental crisis and the demands of sustainable development. This article aims to systematically examine the development of the concept, implementation, and challenges of sustainable education as a new direction for Indonesian education. This study uses the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method, by analyzing 15 national and international scientific articles published within the last five years. The literature search was conducted through Google Scholar, Scopus, and DOAJ databases, with predetermined inclusion criteria. The results of the study indicate that sustainable education is understood as a holistic approach that integrates ecological, social, and economic dimensions in the learning process, and emphasizes the formation of pro-environmental attitudes and behaviors of students. The implementation of sustainable education in Indonesia has been pursued through national policies, particularly the Independent Curriculum, the Pancasila Student Profile Strengthening Project, and the environmentally conscious school program. However, its implementation remains uneven and faces challenges such as limited educator competency, incomplete curriculum integration, and varying institutional support. This study concludes that sustainable and environmentally conscious education needs to be positioned as the basic framework for developing the national education system to achieve quality, competitiveness, and environmental responsibility.

Abstract

This community service activity aimed to improve the health and productivity of cattle while enhancing farmers’ knowledge regarding proper vitamin administration techniques. The activity involved several farmers through stages including identification of cattle requiring vitamins, initial health examination, administration of vitamin injections according to standard dosages, and post-injection observation. The results indicated that some cattle exhibited symptoms of vitamin deficiency, such as decreased appetite, slow growth, and poor physical condition. A total of 10 cattle were successfully injected with vitamins by the service team, which consisted of experts and trained students, with active participation from the farmers during the demonstration process. Post-injection observations showed that all cattle remained stable without adverse reactions, and within a few days, increased activity and improved physical condition were noted in previously weak animals. These findings suggest that vitamin administration via injection is more effective in improving cattle health compared to feed supplementation and successfully enhanced farmers’ knowledge and skills. The results underscore the importance of routine mentoring and the implementation of sustainable programs to maintain cattle health and increase farmers’ productivity.

Abstract

Global climate change has become one of the main drivers of the biodiversity crisis and the instability of natural ecosystems in various parts of the world. This study aims to systematically synthesize scientific findings related to the impact of climate change on biodiversity and ecosystem stability through a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach. The study was conducted on national and internationally reputable scientific articles published in the period 2010-2025, with an emphasis on the last five years. Literature searches were conducted through Google Scholar, Scopus, Web of Science, and PubMed databases using keywords related to climate change, biodiversity, and ecosystem stability. Study selection followed the PRISMA guidelines with strict inclusion and exclusion criteria to ensure the quality and relevance of the literature. The results of the synthesis indicate that climate change has a significant impact on biodiversity through shifts in species distribution, phenological disruption, habitat degradation, and increased extinction risks, especially for tropical and endemic species. This decline in biodiversity directly contributes to the weakening of ecosystem stability and resilience, both in terrestrial, freshwater, and marine ecosystems. The loss of keystone species and reduced functional redundancy have been shown to reduce the ability of ecosystems to maintain essential ecosystem functions and services, such as nutrient cycling, primary productivity, coastal protection, and climate regulation. This study confirms that biodiversity is a key foundation for ecosystem stability and that conservation efforts need to be closely integrated with climate change mitigation and adaptation strategies through an ecosystem-based approach.
