Abstract

Hubungan antara agama dan pembangunan tetap menjadi arena perdebatan dalam ilmu sosial, berayun antara perspektif yang memandang agama sebagai penghalang modernisasi dan perspektif yang mengakui potensi transformatifnya. Artikel ini secara kritis menelaah hubungan agama dan pembangunan melalui studi pustaka komprehensif yang menyintesiskan tiga kerangka teoretis utama: teori modernisasi klasik, tesis etika Protestan Weber, dan diskursus pembangunan berkelanjutan berbasis nilai kontemporer. Analisis menggunakan metodologi kualitatif-deskriptif dengan meninjau karya ilmiah klasik dan kontemporer secara sistematis untuk memetakan pengaruh multidimensional agama pada empat ranah yang saling terkait: sosiologis, ekonomi, politik, dan budaya. Temuan menunjukkan bahwa agama beroperasi sebagai fenomena bermata dua dalam proses pembangunan. Di satu sisi, agama memperkuat modal sosial melalui solidaritas komunal, membentuk etos kerja produktif dan kejujuran ekonomi, memfasilitasi mekanisme redistribusi kekayaan (zakat, infak, wakaf), melegitimasi kebijakan publik berorientasi keadilan, serta memperkuat identitas budaya dan aset wisata religi. Di sisi lain, konservatisme kaku, politisasi identitas, dan interpretasi tekstual yang resisten terhadap inovasi dapat secara substansial menghambat kemajuan pembangunan. Sintesis yang ditawarkan mengadvokasi kerangka tata kelola inklusif-dialogis yang mengintegrasikan prinsip keadilan moral, keseimbangan material-spiritual, dan inovasi kelembagaan—khususnya keuangan syariah dan filantropi produktif—yang selaras dengan Tujuan Pembangunan Berkelanjutan. Artikel ini berkontribusi memberikan kerangka analitis yang menimbang kekuatan pendorong dan penghambat agama sekaligus menawarkan panduan praktis bagi pembuat kebijakan untuk menumbuhkan kolaborasi produktif dan berkeadaban antara institusi negara, masyarakat sipil, dan organisasi berbasis keimanan.

Abstract

This study examines the position of religion in development through a descriptive-qualitative approach using literature review. Religion is not only understood as a spiritual belief system but also as a source of ethics, social guidance, and cultural power that shapes public policy and the direction of national development. In the Indonesian context, religion is closely linked to Pancasila and national identity, meaning that development is not entirely secular but grounded in divine values, social justice, and humanity. The findings indicate that religion contributes significantly to education, economy, socio-cultural life, politics, and environmental sustainability through institutions such as Islamic boarding schools (pesantren), zakat and waqf systems, religious philanthropy, interfaith moderation, and eco-theology. However, religion also faces challenges including secularization, politicization of faith, radicalism, commercialization of religion, and moral decline. Therefore, a constructive integration between religious values, scientific knowledge, and public policy is essential to achieve holistic, ethical, and sustainable development. Consequently, religion should not be seen as an obstacle to modernization but as a moral compass that guides development toward justice, dignity, and civility. Keywords: religion, development, ethics, Indonesia, religious moderation. AbstrakPenelitian ini membahas posisi agama dalam pembangunan dengan pendekatan kualitatif-deskriptif berbasis studi literatur. Agama dipahami bukan sekadar sistem kepercayaan spiritual, tetapi juga sebagai sumber etika, pedoman sosial, dan kekuatan budaya yang mempengaruhi kebijakan publik serta arah pembangunan nasional. Dalam konteks Indonesia, agama memiliki keterkaitan yang kuat dengan Pancasila dan identitas kebangsaan, sehingga pembangunan tidak bersifat sekuler murni, melainkan berlandaskan nilai Ketuhanan, keadilan sosial, dan kemanusiaan. Hasil pembahasan menunjukkan bahwa agama memiliki kontribusi signifikan pada bidang pendidikan, ekonomi, sosial-budaya, politik, dan lingkungan melalui pesantren, zakat-wakaf, filantropi, moderasi beragama, serta eco-theology. Namun, peran agama juga menghadapi tantangan seperti sekularisasi, politisasi agama, radikalisme, komersialisasi, dan degradasi moral. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan integrasi yang konstruktif antara nilai agama, ilmu pengetahuan, dan kebijakan publik agar pembangunan berjalan secara holistik, beretika, dan berkelanjutan. Dengan demikian, agama tidak menjadi hambatan modernisasi, tetapi berfungsi sebagai kompas moral (moral compass) dalam mewujudkan pembangunan yang adil, bermartabat, dan berkeadaban. Kata Kunci: agama, pembangunan, moral, Indonesia, moderasi beragama

Abstract

Sexual violence, forced marriage, and economic exploitation against women and children are forms of rights violations that have multidimensional impacts. This article examines the strategic role of Islamic Counseling Guidance (BKI) in family law education to address these issues and ensure the protection of children's rights. This study employs a descriptive qualitative approach through interviews, observations, and documentation of legal education workshop activities at MTT Al-Barakah Garut. Findings indicate that legal and religious literacy within families remains low, exacerbating risks of violence and structural injustice. BKI is deemed capable of integrating Islamic values and family law principles through a holistic approach—psychological, social, and spiritual. By targeting premarital counseling, family counseling, and fiqh education on child and women’s protection, BKI serves as an effective preventive and curative tool. This article suggests optimizing the BKI program as a sustainable educational strategy in efforts to create legally aware and violence-free families.

Abstract

This study examines the implementation of counselling guidance to strengthen religious moderation and gender equality through digital counselling guidance in modern Islamic boarding schools in West Java. Using a qualitative-interpretive approach, this study involved Islamic boarding schools in seven districts/cities, focusing on female students aged 15-25. The results of the survey reveal the development of a digital counselling guidance framework that integrates Islamic moderation values and counter-narrative strategies for gender-based cyber violence. This framework includes four dimensions: digital connection skills, content access, contextual understanding, and interaction in digital space, referring to UNESCO and Kemenkominfo standards. The implementation of digital counselling guidance is carried out through the stages of instilling, coaching, mentoring, and competency development, and it is applied at the individual, interpersonal, and institutional levels. This process follows the connect-content-context-contact cycle, emphasizing the importance of building constructive and inclusive media literacy awareness. This study significantly empowers Islamic boarding school communities to face digital challenges, promoting moderate Islam and gender equality in the digital era.

Abstract

Scholarly discourse on contemporary Muslim scholars has developed rapidly, both emerging from Islamic sources and adopted from other sources. The ideas of science are interesting subjects to be studied further, especially themes related to science and spirituality which are seen as separate from each other.This article examines the integration of knowledge and spirituality through a comparative analysis of the ideas of Ismail Raji al-Faruqi and Seyyed Hossein Nasr. The study aims to explain how both scholars understand the relationship between knowledge and spiritual values, as well as to identify their contributions to contemporary discourses on the integration of knowledge. This research employs a qualitative, library-based approach by collecting data from the primary works of both thinkers and relevant secondary academic literature, which are then analyzed using descriptive-comparative and interpretative methods. The findings show that al-Faruqi emphasizes the Islamization of knowledge as an epistemological framework rooted in the principle of tawhid, whereas Nasr highlights the importance of reviving sacred knowledge and metaphysical foundations as a response to the epistemic crisis of modernity. Both scholars reject the secular separation between knowledge and spirituality, yet they differ in methodological orientation: al-Faruqi focuses on epistemological reconstruction, while Nasr stresses the restoration of spiritual and metaphysical dimensions. The contribution of this research lies in its analytical and systematic comparative mapping of the two thinkers’ approaches to integrating knowledge and spirituality within the context of modern intellectual challenges.

Abstract

Jurusan Bimbingan Konseling Islam sebagai salah satu Jurusan yang relatif masih baru di Fakultas Ushuludin Adab dan Dakwah IAIN Syekh Nurjati Cirebon, sangat merespon adanya perubahan paradigma pendidikan dari mulai input, output sampai out come bagi mahasiswanya. Hal ini dibuktikan dengan banyaknya perubahan mulai dari penataan kurikulum, kelengkapan administrasi, kegiatan mahasiswa dan jurusan serta melaksanakan program-program kerja lainnya. Selain itu, kesiapan mahasiswa dalam menyiapkan dirinya untuk menghadapi tantangan global mutlak dilakukan oleh mahasiswa. Dalam upaya mempersiapkan mahasiswa BKI yang memiliki ilmu pengetahuan dan keterampilan khususnya dalam bidang bimbingan (penyuluhan) dan konseling dibutuhkan kurikulum dan sarana laboratorium konseling yang menunjang di dalam penguatan kompetensi mahasiswa. Prospek mahasiswa Jurusan bimbingan konseling Islam ke depan memiliki banyak tantangan terutama dalam menghadapi Masyarakat Ekonomi Asean (MEA). Di samping memiliki kemampuan keterampilan (skill) terkait dengan konseling, mahasiswa juga harus menguasai bahasa dan ilmu pengetahuan teknologi untuk menunjang masa depannya.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of Islamic guidance and counseling in enhancing the effectiveness of public health outreach. The research employed a library research method complemented by in-depth interviews with health educators at Giri Mande Community Health Center. The findings indicate that Islamic guidance and counseling can integrate psychological, educational, and spiritual aspects into health outreach activities, creating a more holistic and comprehensive approach. This approach positively impacts individuals’ understanding of their health conditions while fostering healthy lifestyle behaviors and discipline in maintaining good living habits. The integration of Islamic values such as tawakkul (trust and reliance on Allah) and dzikir (remembrance of Allah) also strengthens participants’ mental and spiritual aspects, enabling them to face health challenges with mental readiness and spiritual calm. Moreover, Islamic counseling contributes to comprehensive health education, including mental health, reproductive health, and disease prevention, through a more personal and contextualized approach. Therefore, Islamic guidance and counseling not only serve as an educational medium but also as a tool for empowering individuals to achieve physical, mental, and spiritual well-being. This study emphasizes that integrating spiritual values into health outreach is an effective strategy for promoting public health comprehensively

Abstract

The residents of Gili Island, better known as Oxygen Island, have an age composition with more than 40% of its residents being over 100 years old. This condition has sparked the curiosity of many researchers regarding its cause. Based on this background, an observation was conducted in the Gili area. Using several concepts from Asset-Based Community Development, it can be identified that Oksigen Island has many assets that must be developed. These assets consist of tangible and intangible objects. In contrast to previous results, which stated that the influence of clean oxygen with a level of 20.9% is what affects the longevity of the residents of Gili Island, the results of this service conclude that in addition to the beneficial oxygen levels, the determining aspect is obtained from intangible assets, namely the level of religiosity or religiousness of the island's residents which is good. The indicator can be seen from their activities, at every time the words of Tayyibah adorn their lives.

Abstract

Contemporary psychosocial problems have become increasingly complex due to social change, economic pressure, disruptions in social relationships, and the weakening of spiritual sources of meaning in collective life. Global data indicate that nearly one in seven people lived with a mental disorder in 2021, while national data show that the prevalence of depression among people aged 15 years and older reached 1.4%, with the 15-24 age group having the highest prevalence. This article aims to formulate a paradigm for Islamic value-based social community counseling to address psychosocial problems. This study employs qualitative library research, using thematic analysis and a conceptual synthesis of the literature on community counseling, Islamic guidance and counseling, community psychology, mental health, and recent empirical data. The findings indicate that the Islamic community counseling paradigm is constructed through the integration of tawhid, ukhuwah, social justice, maslahah, amanah, shura, and ta'awun with the principles of participation, empowerment, advocacy, prevention, and community evaluation. The contribution of this study lies in the formulation of a conceptual-operational model that positions counselors as facilitators, educators, mediators, advocates, social network mobilizers, and value guardians. The article recommends developing community counseling programs within mosques, religious social institutions, families, schools, and through cross-sector collaboration, and testing them using psychological, social, spiritual, and structural indicators.

Abstract

This study examines how the Government of Banten Province constructs and deploys halal discourse in the Cikande Halal Industrial Zone (KIHC) through official press releases, social media content, and promotional materials produced between 2019 and 2024. The research focuses on key concepts such as the commodification of religion, state hegemony, and the political economy of the halal sector. Using Norman Fairclough’s Critical Discourse Analysis, the study investigates linguistic strategies at the textual level, the mechanisms of production and circulation at the discursive practice level, and the broader power relations at the social practice level. The object of analysis includes institutional texts officially issued by the provincial government regarding KIHC. The findings reveal that the state systematically mobilizes religious lexicon and metaphors—such as “halal,” “syariah,” and “qibla”—to naturalize the fusion of religious morality and economic development agendas. The main challenge of the research is its exclusive reliance on state-produced narratives, which limits the ability to capture contesting voices. The study recommends greater public scrutiny of halal policy discourse and a more inclusive approach to community engagement in halal industrial development. In practice, this research demonstrates how religious language can serve as a tool for political and economic legitimation. This study advances the literature on the commodification of religion and the halal political economy by showing that halal discourse functions as a form of governmentality, merging moral authority with market logic to shape new forms of Muslim subjectivity within Islamic capitalism.
