Abstract

In this study, the researchers measured cicadas' sound waves, considering that cicadas are mostly found in rural areas. The intensity level meter (AMTAST AMF003) was used with time variations (9:00 JST; 12:00 JST; and 15:00 JST). Measurements of air temperature differences (Krisbow Temperature & Humidity Data Logger) were also carried out, and weather conditions were also considered in data collection using satellite data from Himawari, Japan. The interpretation results of intensity level's trend measured at 3:00 pm JST were decreased concerning the changes in days. Meanwhile, the measurement at 09:00 am and 12:00 pm JST did not show a decrement concerning the changes in days (31 days in total). These results show that temperature changes (towards autumn) can affect the intensity level of sound waves. In addition, slightly different intensity levels can affect large changes in acoustic power or the produced sound.

Abstract

The increasing use of fossil-based fuels causes an imbalance between energy demand and the availability of that energy. Therefore, the use of rice husk biomass as alternative energy was implemented through the use of rice husk furnaces. This research aims to optimize the efficiency of a small industrial-scale husk furnace by varying the oxygen flow valve holes and the mass of the heated water. The test on the husk furnace was carried out using the Water Boiling Test (WBT) method with the following test parameters: combustion time, FCR, input power, output power, power loss, radiant energy, and thermal conductivity of the pan and chimney of the husk furnace. Tests were carried out on four variations of the oxygen flow valve holes (horizontal: 18 x 36 cm2 and 27 x 36 cm2, vertical: 27 x 24 cm2 and 27 x 12 cm2) and three variations in the mass of heated water (6 kg, 12 kg, and 18 kg). The highest efficiency of the husk furnace was obtained at 18 kg of water, and based on each test parameter, the performance of the husk furnace was most optimal at the horizontal valve hole measuring 27 x 36 cm2 with an average efficiency of 17.32%.

Abstract

Indonesia has an abundant amount of industry. Production in large, medium, and small industries still uses gas and oil as fuel sources. The fuel sources used still come from non-renewable energy. There is a need for alternative use of renewable energy to reduce the use of non-renewable energy. One solution is the use of rice husk biomass as a fuel source. Rice husk is still often considered as waste despite its many utilizations. The utilization of rice husk waste must be improved to increase its beneficial value. Rice husk waste can be utilized as a fuel source in a husk furnace. A husk furnace is a cooking device in which the fuel (rice husk) is burned using direct combustion. This research aims to optimize the efficiency of the husk furnace by varying the size of the oxygen flow valve hole and the mass of water being heated. Tests were conducted on four variations of oxygen flow valve hole size, namely, 36x27 cm2, 36x34 cm2, 43x34 cm2, and 50x34 cm2, and two variations of water mass (6 and 18 kg). The research was conducted by heating water using the Water Boiling Test method with test parameters: heating time, fuel consumption rate, energy in, energy out, heat efficiency, heat transfer rate, and ash and charcoal yield. The significant efficiency value can be used as a reference for small-scale industrial rice husk furnaces. The most significant efficiency in the study was 54.99%, achieved by a 43x34 cm2 valve hole for heating 18 kg of water. Based on the most effective efficiency value gained, the expansion of the oxygen flow valve hole is sufficient to be used as a test parameter to test the optimization of small industrial-scale husk furnaces.

Abstract

This research investigates the effect of oxygen flow valve orifice size on the thermal conductivity of a small-scale industrial husk furnace's pan and chimney. The researchers used a water boiling test to the thermal conductivity at varying valve hole sizes: 3627 cm, 3634 cm, 4334 cm, and 5034 cm. The pan, crucial for direct contact with cooking ingredients, and the chimney, responsible for fire flow during combustion, play vital roles in heating. The chimney, constructed of clay and zinc, exhibited thermal conductivity values ranging from 0.52 to 0.59 W m⁻¹ °C⁻¹. The highest chimney thermal conductivity was observed at the 50x34 cm valve hole size, attributed to a smaller temperature difference between the inner and outer chimney surfaces. The pan's average thermal conductivity ranged from 2.95 to 4.10 W m⁻¹ °C⁻¹, with the highest value recorded at 5034 cm orifice. This finding suggests a direct relationship between the valve hole size, heat transfer rate, and the pan's thermal conductivity. The research reveals the influence of oxygen flow on heat transfer within the husk furnace, providing valuable insights for optimizing its design and efficiency. While the chimney's thermal conductivity remained relatively stable across different orifice sizes, the pan's conductivity showed greater variation, potentially indicating inconsistent heat distribution. Further research with more precise temperature measurement techniques is recommended to refine these findings.

Abstract

Silicon Dioxide (SiO2) is one of the most abundant minerals found on earth. SiO2 is widely used in various fields, so its availability as a finite natural resource diminishes. A purity procedure can raise the purity of low-quality silica by altering the temperature and rate of temperature rise. This study aims to obtain the best design for increasing SiO2 levels—the G-optimal design on a non-linear model using the Variable Neighborhood Search (VNS) algorithm. The VNS algorithm employs two types of neighborhoods, one acquired by replacing one design point with a candidate set and the other by replacing two design points with two points in the candidate set. The model used to increase silicon dioxide's purity is a non-linear model that follows the exponential decay distribution. The best design points obtained from the G-optimal design on the relationship between temperature (oC) and the rate of temperature increase (oC/min) 800 oC to 900 oC is a pair of points 800 oC and 1,67 oC /min, 800 oC and 2,17 oC/min, 815 oC and 2,50 oC/min, 825 oC and 2,00 oC/min, 845 oC and 2,34 oC/min, 895 oC and 3,34 oC/min 900 oC and 3,50 oC/min with a G-efficiency of 96,41%.

Abstract

This research focuses on designing a control system for pesticide applicator robots on rice plants. Control is carried out via radio wave communication using a transmitter-receiver (Flysky FS-iA6 2.4 GHz). The remote can control the robot wheel (forward, backward and turn), boom sprayer (raise-fall and open-close), and spray pump. The research method is carried out using the waterfall model because it is under the needs that require a sequential flow in the process. The test results show that the use of a bevel gear gearbox can increase the torque value up to 3 times. The use of 4 electric motors further increases the stability of the robot's movement (RPM and torque) when given the maximum load of the robot. The boom sprayer successfully opens-closes and fluctuates smoothly at the optimum value of PWM 50 and voltage 2.35. The time required for the boom sprayer to open-close, and rise-fall is 30 s. The relay which functions as a switch is successfully controlled, so that the pump can be activated and deactivated in mode 2 at the input. Transmitter-receiver communication test was successfully carried out. Transmitter-receiver communication is capable of up to a distance of < 150 m. Input mode 1 on the transmitter successfully controls the boom sprayer. Input mode 2 successfully controls the motion of the wheels and pump.

Abstract

Ba₀.₂₅Sr₀.₇₅TiO₃ (BST) thin films were fabricated on indium tin oxide (ITO) glass substrates using the chemical solution deposition (CSD) method followed by annealing. The objective of this work was to investigate the effect of Ruthenium (Ru) doping on the optical properties, particularly the band gap energy, of BST thin films. Optical characterization was carried out using UV–Vis spectrophotometry in the wavelength range of 230–850 nm. The results revealed that Ru doping effectively modified the electronic structure of BST, leading to a progressive reduction in band gap energy. On silicon substrates, the band gap decreased from 3.363 eV (undoped) to 1.568 eV (1.5% Ru), while on ITO substrates it decreased from 2.116 eV to 1.698 eV for the same doping level. This decreasing trend indicates that Ru introduces localized states or defect levels within the BST structure, facilitating electronic transitions at lower photon energies. The tunability of the band gap is highly significant for optoelectronic applications. A narrower band gap enhances light absorption in the visible region, which is beneficial for devices such as solar cells, photodetectors, optical sensors, and smart windows. Furthermore, the compatibility of BST with transparent conducting oxides such as ITO strengthens its potential forintegration into multifunctional and energy-efficient devices. In summary, this study demonstrates that Ruthenium doping provides a promising route to tailor the band gap of BST thin films, thereby expanding their applicability in next-generation optoelectronic technologies.
