BSI Maslahat has various programs to distribute zakat funds, one of which is the BSI Scholarship Program. This program aims to provide educational assistance to students and students who are underprivileged but have high academic potential. The purpose of this study is to determine and analyze the effectiveness of the use of BSI maslahat zakat funds for the BSI scholarship program at the University of Jambi. The research method used is a qualitative-quantitative approach with descriptive analysis, which involves data collection through interviews, surveys, and documentation. The results of the study indicate that the use of zakat funds through the BSI Scholarship program has been effectively given to students who need to pay for education. The community sees this program as a form of BSI's commitment to supporting education and human resource development. The conclusion of this study confirms that a planned and directed program at BSI Maslahat, such as the BSI Scholarship, can be a strategic tool in building good education for students. Therefore, it is recommended that BSI continue to develop relevant and impactful BSI Scholarship programs, and conduct periodic evaluations to ensure their sustainability and effectiveness.

Abstract

If the Sharia Court in Aceh is examined from a historical perspective, its institutional roots can be traced to the office of the qadhi (Islamic judge) during the era of the Islamic sultanates. This historical fact influenced the colonial period, independence, the New Order, and the Reformation era. This study aims to examine the development of the Sharia Court from the kingdom era to the Reformation era using an Islamic legal social history approach. This study employs empirical legal methods, analyzed using Islamic legal social history theory. Data were collected through document studies and interviews. The documents analyzed included laws, regulations, books, journal articles, and court decisions. The informants interviewed included academics, judges, and non-Muslim members of the public. The study finds that the development of the Sharia Court in Aceh has experienced significant fluctuations from the sultanate period to the reform era. During the sultanate era, Islamic judicial institutions flourished, with courts led by qadhi who functioned as both legal authorities and moral arbiters within society. In the colonial period, particularly under Dutch and Japanese rule, Islamic courts were progressively marginalized, resulting in legal pluralism marked by tensions among Islamic law, customary law (adat), and Western legal systems. In the post-independence period, religious courts gradually gained formal recognition within the national legal system, including the incorporation of women as judges, reflecting increasing institutionalization and gender inclusivity. During the reform era, the Sharia Court underwent a process of revitalization, particularly following the implementation of special autonomy in Aceh and the formal introduction of the Islamic law within the regional legal system.

Abstract

Higher education faces the challenge of shaping a young generation that cares about the environment. However, in reality, young people still face difficulties in developing sustainable skills. Problem-Based Game-Based Learning (PBGL) is learning innovation for shaping sustainable competencies. The aims of this study were to determine students' sustainable competencies, determine the effect of length of study on sustainable competencies, and analyse the effect of the PBGL model on sustainable competencies. To analyse the influence of PBGL, a pretest-posttest quasi-experimental design with a control group was used. Meanwhile, to determine the differences in sustainability competencies based on length of study, the Mann-Whitney U test was used. The instrument used was modified from the sustainability competency instrument to suit the characteristics of the research subjects. The results show that sustainability competencies before treatment were at a moderate level. After treatment, the experimental group showed an increase in holistic thinking to 90.5%, followed by an increase in conflict resolution to 95.37%. The experimental group showed a significant increase (t=13.462, p<0.001) with an increase in competence exceeding that of the control group. When viewed from the difference in length of study, there is a significant difference between fifth-semester and seventh-semester students. Seventh-semester students demonstrate higher competence than fifth-semester students (p<0.05). The difference in average shows a 10% difference. This indicates that academic maturity affects the effectiveness of PBGL and sustainability competence. The results show that the PBGL model is able to accelerate the development of sustainability competencies. This study has important theoretical and practical implications for the improvement of sustainable environmental curricula and higher education learning.
