Abstract

The purpose of this study is to examine elementary school students use of electronics following the Covid-19 epidemic. The descriptive quantitative research approach was applied. Questionnaires were provided to primary school children to collect data. The study was conducted in Tanjung Mulia Village, using 20 elementary school students as participants, and a sample technique called Simple Random sample was used. The data collecting approach used in this study is a closed questionnaire. The instrument is used by respondents through picking alternative answers that match their view or decision. In this study, descriptive data analysis is used to interpret the data gathered from questionnaires.  According to the findings of the survey, the majority of elementary school students choose to use devices for amusement purposes such as playing games, viewing or listening to music, and excessively accessing social media without time limitations, rather than for study and school purposes. The use of gadgets as a source of learning and pleasure must be done with adequate supervision, such as restricting gadget usage time, managing gadget use exclusively on beneficial, educational apps, and accompanying and leading children.

Abstract

Tujuan yang ingin dicapai dalam penelitian ini adalah mengembangkan bahan ajar berbasis Open Educational Resources (OER) pada mata kuliah Perencanaan Program PLS dan mengetahui kelayakan dari pengembangan bahan ajar berbasis OER pada mata kuliah Perencanaan Program PLS. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian Research and Development (R&D) yang bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengembangan bahan  ajar berbasis Open Education Resources (OER) untuk meningkatkan kompetensi lulusan pada mata kuliah Perencanaan Program Pendidikan Masyarakat. Data untuk penelitian diperoleh melalui Angket yang disebarkan untuk melihat perkembangan dan kelayakan bahan ajar perencanaan program penmas berbasis OBE tersebut secara langsung maupun penyebaran melalui online menggunakan Google Form. Teknik analisis data adalah analisis data kualitatif dan kuantitatif. deskriptif berbentuk persentase. Hasil penelitian ini diharapkan dapat memberikan kontribusi dalam pengembangan bahan ajar berbasis Open Educational Resources (OER) pada mata kuliah Perencanaan Program PLS dan untuk peningkatan kompetensi lulusan pada mata kuliah Perencanaan Program PLS.

Abstract

This study has an objective to identification university student ill-structured problem solving skills to solve statistical problem. The study is conducted using mixed method study which is including quantitative and qualitative approach. The study involved 68 university students who enrolled in social statistic subject. The data was collected by using a cognitive test instrument which was administered as pre-test and post-test. The pre-test instrument was constructed as a regular form of test instrument which provides specific instruction for university studentss to solve the test. However, the post-test was constructed based on the criteria of ill-structured problem solving. The result shows that there are difference between pre-test and post-test. The difference can be indicated by comparing the T-value which shows higher value than T-table (10,216 ≥ 1,997). it indicates that the university students have more ability in solving problem with instruction rather than solving the ill-structured problem.

Abstract

This study was conducted with a qualitative approach aimed at understanding individual perspectives, identifying and describing processes, and exploring limited research topics or backgrounds with detailed information. The background of this topic selection is to measure the level of sexual knowledge of adolescents in Medan and Tantang, analyze their behavior patterns, and analyze the relationship of sexual behavior with the level of sexual knowledge of adolescents. This study used a type of qualitative research that was descriptive. The study subjects used in this study were all adolescents in Tungan Medan. Researchers choose purposive sampling methods when selecting research subjects. The data collection techniques used in this study were the spread of questionnaires and the data collection tools used were questionnaires or questions. Research results show that some teens are already pregnant with sexual knowledge, but some teens lack sufficient knowledge. The consequence of this is that adolescents can commit reckless sexual behavior, such as premarital sex with their spouses. Therefore, it is important to provide comprehensive sex education to adolescents, covering aspects such as body anatomy, reproductive health, and sexual knowledge. In addition, adolescents have access to accurate and reliable information about sex through school education, access to reliable information sources, and open communication between adolescents and their parents.

Abstract

The results of the PISA 2022 assessment, along with preliminary studies conducted in West Sulawesi, indicate that students' proficiency in mathematics remains significantly below expectations. One of the factors contributing to students' limited proficiency in mathematics is associated with the pedagogical competence of their instructors. This study employs a quantitative research design utilizing a survey instrument to describe the level of pedagogical competence of mathematics teachers in secondary schools in West Sulawesi, based on student perceptions, and to identify the specific competencies that require development. The population of this study was all secondary school students in West Sulawesi, with a sample size of 1.051 senior secondary school students and 988 junior secondary school students. The analysis employed was descriptive statistical analysis using a stratified random sampling method. The findings indicate that a considerable proportion of mathematics teachers at both the junior high school and senior high school levels exhibit inadequate proficiency. The pedagogical competence of teachers is still lacking in several key areas, which require further development: (1) The skill to comprehend student characteristics; (2) The capability to select materials that are aligned with the learning experience and learning objectives; (3) The ability to select media and learning resources that are suitable for student needs; (4) The skill to make transactional decisions in response to situations that arise in the classroom; (5) The ability to integrate and utilize technology in learning; (6) The skill to communicate effectively; and (7) The skill to evaluate learning. The results of this study can be used as a guideline for the government, experts, and policymakers to overcome the problem of teacher competency development. In addition, the results can be used to design and determine the direction of policies and programs for developing mathematics teacher pedagogical competencies in West Sulawesi.

Abstract

he purpose of this study is to analyze the negative impacts of gadget use on early adolescents. The presence of gadgets, particularly in the form of smartphones, has significantly contributed to daily life as a medium for information retrieval, interaction, entertainment, and even online business activities. The advancement of information and communication technology is increasingly benefiting society. Gadgets, as one of the products of this technology, have transformed human communication behavior by transcending space and time. A gadget is a small electronic device with specific functions, such as a smartphone. Essentially, this technology was created to make human life easier and more comfortable. However, the rapid technological advancements today have made it nearly impossible to find any area of human life untouched by their use, whether directly or indirectly. Along with globalization and the demand for rapid information exchange, negative impacts on early adolescents have emerged. These impacts include health issues, educational challenges, disruptions in social interaction, and even effects on family economics. Excessive gadget use among early adolescents can trigger harmful side effects such as an increased risk of depression, health problems, anxiety disorders, difficulty focusing, and other problematic behaviors. Gadget addiction can also hinder adolescents from socializing with their surroundings and increase the risk of loneliness. The role of parents is crucial in setting boundaries to prevent gadget addiction among children and mitigate these risks.

Abstract

Women are often associated with a lack of economic independence, which hinders their ability to make autonomous financial decisions. The development of the Sekolah Perempuan website aims to address the significant challenge of women's financial independence, exacerbated by limited access to education and persistent social stigma. This study focuses on creating an optimal design framework that empowers women through the effective use of digital resources. By employing a mixed-methods approach, including both quantitative and qualitative methods, the research utilizes the ADDIE model to guide the website's development. A sample of 35 women participants was surveyed to assess their financial independence before and after engaging with the Sekolah Perempuan website. The data collection instruments included structured surveys, which revealed a significant improvement in financial autonomy, indicated by a mean difference (p < 0.001). The design framework consists of three key components: (1) Promoting Women Empowerment through educational initiatives that enhance self-confidence, financial literacy, and digital skills; (2) Enhancing Digital Marketing Skills by developing competencies in digital knowledge and marketing strategies; and (3) Supporting Financial Independence through integrated marketing tools and educational resources. The findings demonstrate a positive impact, with participants reporting new income sources and increased financial confidence. This study underscores the potential of digital platforms to foster women's financial independence and offers sustainable solutions for long-term empowerment. Future research should explore the application of this framework across various digital platforms to further enhance women's empowerment initiatives.

Abstract

This study aims to determine differences in early childhood independence based on the mother's employment status in  Madrasah Diniyah Awwaliyah (MDA) Kampung Durian, Medan Perjuangan District. The method used in this study is a qualitative method using descriptive qualitative data analysis, namely data collected in the form of words, pictures and not numbers. The data used in this research is primary data. Namely data obtained directly from the field. In this study, primary data was obtained by observation and interviews. The results of this study shows that the student who has employer mothers have a high level of independence compared to student whose mothers do not work and the status of mothers who work or not can also be a factor of a child's independence.

Abstract

This study is aiming to determine the factors causing children to drop out of school in Mabar Hilir environment, which is useful for providing educational teaching is very important to reduce school dropout rates. This study uses a qualitative methodology that includes interviews, observation, and a descriptive approach. Children who had dropped out of school in Village Mabar Hilir served as respondents for this study. This study collects respondent data using interview instruments. According to the research's findings, one child who should have been in school at that age was not attending, and twelve students had dropped out. There are several main reasons that causing this phenomenon including economics and environment factors.
