Abstract

The purpose of this study was to analyze the impact of online gambling addiction (slots) on family harmony. The research was conducted using a qualitative case study approach, five heads of households in Bunga Tanjung Village, known to experience online slot gambling addiction, were examined. The results showed that the higher the online game addiction among family members, the greater the negative impact on family harmony. The main impact includes reduced interaction and communication within the family, loss of the head-of the family’s role, development of long-term conflicts, and damage to family welfare. The study concludes that online gambling addiction has a significant impact on decreasing the quality of family harmony. Solutions include the prevention and treatment efforts through socialization, counseling, rehabilitation, and social support to aid affected families to recover

Abstract

This qualitative study aims to describe the competencies of mathematics teachers from the perspective of secondary school students in West Sulawesi, especially related to which aspects need to be developed. Data collection in this study used a survey with open-ended questions that asked students to submit responses, criticisms, or suggestions regarding their teachers' performance in learning mathematics. The survey lasted for 4 weeks, in July 2024. The population of this study was all secondary school students in West Sulawesi and the sample of this study was 1012 students consisting of 559 high school students and 453 junior high school students in West Sulawesi. Data analysis techniques in this study employed three stages consisting of data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings showed that there are still numerous secondary school students (junior and senior high school) in West Sulawesi who are not satisfied with the mathematics learning they experience, particularly regarding the competence of their mathematics teachers. From the students' viewpoint, there are still numerous aspects of the four competencies of secondary school mathematics teachers (personality, pedagogic, professional, and social) in West Sulawesi that need to be further developed.

Abstract

This study aims to understand the meaning of students’ lived experiences in the process of character formation through non-formal education at Ma’had Tahfidz Al-Ansor Medan. Using a qualitative phenomenological approach, this research explores how students experience daily interactions with teachers, peers, and the pesantren environment an atmosphere rich in religious and disciplinary values. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observations, and documentation of teaching and character-building activities. The findings reveal that character formation at Ma’had Tahfidz Al-Ansor occurs through three main dimensions: exemplary modeling (uswah), habituation (ta‘wid), and the internalization of spiritual values in daily routines such as Qur’an memorization, congregational prayers, and community service activities. These dimensions collectively shape a character pattern grounded in sincerity, responsibility, and independence. From a phenomenological perspective, students perceive the pesantren’s non-formal education not merely as religious instruction but as a spiritual journey toward developing noble character (akhlaq al-karimah). The study concludes that non-formal education in pesantren plays a significant role in fostering students’ character through meaningful existential experiences.

Abstract

This study aims to explain the role of farmer groups in increasing the income of the people of Jumateguh Village, Banturaja District. The qualitative approach using descriptive methods and data collection techniques including observation, interviews, and documentation. The results shows there are three roles of farmer groups in the Jumateguh village community, namely as a forum for discussion for group members in solving a problem by finding solutions together through discussion forums, secondly as a forum for information for group members in obtaining information from extension agents regarding how to choosing good/superior plant seeds, as well as handling pests and diseases that attack plants, and the third as a production unit, namely providing production facilities and infrastructure such as tanks for spraying pesticides and insecticides on plants and tripe machines to clean grass that disturbs plants.

Abstract

This study aims to determine differences in early childhood independence based on the mother's employment status in Madrasah Diniyah Awwaliyah (MDA) Kampung Durian, Medan Perjuangan District. The method used in this study is a qualitative method with descriptive qualitative data analysis, in which the data collected are in the form of words and pictures rather than numbers. The data used in this research are primary data obtained directly from the field through observation and interviews. The results of this study show that students who have employed mothers demonstrate a higher level of independence compared to students whose mothers do not work, and the employment status of mothers can also be a factor influencing a child's independence.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to find out the parenting style adopted by 2 career women in forming the independence of their children, Mrs. D (33) and Mrs. I (27) in Pinanggripan Village. The type of research is qualitative research using the case study approach. The subject of study was determined through the purposive sampling technique. The data were collected through the interview techniques by using interview form. The results of the study shown that the two informants used typical democratic parenting. Consequently, the children show a good attitude shifting in which children are more independent. In addition, the form of independence can be seen from seven indicators, including: (1) physical ability, (2) self-confidence, (3) responsibility, (4) discipline, (5) good at getting along, (6) sharing, (7) being able to control the emotions. The result shows the child has good independent personality.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to examine elementary school students use of electronics following the Covid-19 epidemic. The descriptive quantitative research approach was applied. Questionnaires were provided to primary school children to collect data. The study was conducted in Tanjung Mulia Village, using 20 elementary school students as participants, and a sample technique called Simple Random sample was used. The data collecting approach used in this study is a closed questionnaire. The instrument is used by respondents through picking alternative answers that match their view or decision. In this study, descriptive data analysis is used to interpret the data gathered from questionnaires. According to the findings of the survey, the majority of elementary school students choose to use devices for amusement purposes such as playing games, viewing or listening to music, and excessively accessing social media without time limitations, rather than for study and school purposes. The use of gadgets as a source of learning and pleasure must be done with adequate supervision, such as restricting gadget usage time, managing gadget use exclusively on beneficial, educational apps, and accompanying and leading children.

Abstract

Gadget is a term in English, which is an electronic device that has a special purpose and function to download the latest information, various technologies and the latest features so as to make human life more practical. The purpose of this study is to analyze the effect of gadget exposure on speech delay in children under five years old. This study is a qualitative descriptive analysis research. This descriptive research aims to describe a situation or phenomena as it is. This research was conducted in Tanjung Gusta Village. The subject of this research is the parents of toddlers who experience speech delay. Data collection techniques used in the study were observation and interviews. The results of observations and interviews show that children who intensely use gadgets (experimental group) have limited verbal communication skills compared to children who minimally use gadgets (control group). Children in the experimental group tended to have delayed speech, difficulty articulating words clearly and limited age-appropriate vocabulary. They also showed difficulty in understanding and following simple commands.

Abstract

The objective of this study is to determine the type of career parenting and its impact on the development of children's personalities. The descriptive phenomology method is used in this study. The study was conducted out in Sibolga City, Hutabarangan Village, and Sibolga Julu. Three youngsters aged 12 to 14 years old, as well as their parents, participated in the study. Unstructured interviews and observations are used to acquire data. The data analysis method employed is qualitative descriptive data analysis. According to the findings of this study, the parenting style of career parents has a substantial impact on the personalities of their children. A qualitative investigation of three parents who worked as small merchants, restaurant employees, and factory workers revealed disparities in parenting approaches, namely democratic and permissive. In this instance, it is critical for working parents with limited time to find methods to be actively involved in their children's life. For example, regular communication, listening to children's feelings, and spending quality time together can all help.

Abstract

This study is aiming to determine the factors causing children to drop out of school in Mabar Hilir environment, which is useful for providing educational teaching is very important to reduce school dropout rates. This study uses a qualitative methodology that includes interviews, observation, and a descriptive approach. Children who had dropped out of school in Village Mabar Hilir served as respondents for this study. This study collects respondent data using interview instruments. According to the research's findings, one children who should have been in school at that age was not attending, and twelve students had dropped out. There are several main reason that causing this phenomena including economics and environment factors.
