Abstract

This article aims to dig deeper into the concept of Indonesian philanthropy in dealing with the pandemic seen from the social base of the Indonesian people. This study uses a qualitative approach with the grounded theory method. This research results show a collective awareness of Durkheim's understanding that characterizes mechanical solidarity; in the case of philanthropy in Indonesia, it is at the intersection of mechanical and organic solidarity. The strengthening of generosity can be explained from the theory of social facts that there are non-material social facts that shape the spirit of the Indonesian people's philanthropic movement, namely generosity and collective awareness that characterize mechanical solidarity in rural areas that occurs in modern society with organic solidarity.

Abstract

ABSTRACT This research focuses on two schools in Indonesia, Aisyiyah Nur'aini Integrated Preschool and Suan Santi School, both of which have a responsibility to teach character development. Both schools have similar learning environments, both in Indonesia and in Thailand, which has a rich cultural heritage. The partners are also schools that focus on Islamic teachings in ECD. This study highlights the importance of understanding the differences between schools as this is a key goal of education to foster a sense of belonging and diversity. Suan Santi School in Thailand is a school for Muslims as a minority, yet the study shows that the majority of students in this school face threats from Buddhist sects, intimidation and violence. To provide knowledge about global awareness, new knowledge is needed from the teachers. In Indonesian and Thai schools, diversity is a distinctive feature that reflects the multicultural and multiethnic societies in which the schools are located. Students come from different backgrounds, religions and cultures, creating diverse experiences and perspectives within the school community. This research looks at two perspectives: the importance of diversity being taught by teachers, and the importance of embracing global diversity.

Abstract

This study set out to investigate how the state and its citizens create their connection under the framework of philanthropy. In order to identify the pattern of interactions between the public, the government, and the charitable movement, this study employed a grounded theory methodology. The study's findings suggested that, in terms of the state's constitutionally imposed duties to its citizens, aiding their welfare—which the state actively pursued—was not so much philanthropy as it was an obligation to the people. The argument we could make was that the government, philanthropic institutions, and citizens should work together to establish a complementary meeting point. This is because the government is responsible for attending to the basic needs of the community, while foreign philanthropic institutions concentrate on empowering other domains, like advocacy.

Abstract

In the era of 21st-century disruption, fostering national character to strengthen identity and nationalism is crucial for forming inclusive citizenship. This research aims to deepen and broaden the understanding of how social class affects individuals' access to citizenship rights. This study employs a qualitative approach using the library research method, which involves compiling various references from previous studies relevant to the research subject to draw conclusions. The collected data are processed, analyzed, and presented descriptively and qualitatively in a logical and systematic manner, yielding inductive conclusions that begin with specific observations and lead to general conclusions. Inequality in access to education, disparities in employment opportunities, and limited political participation are challenges that need to be addressed to achieve inclusive and equitable citizenship. The challenges in Indonesia's education system encompass three main aspects: unequal access to educational, varying quality of education, and inconsistent allocation of budgets along with a lack of commitment from local governments to improve educational standards. These inequalities present significant challenges in realizing a fair and equitable citizenry system. This work is an essential reference for sociological, political science, and legal studies in discussing the dynamics of citizenship and social equality.
