Abstract

The increasing demand for digital integration in vocational education requires innovative learning media that enhance engagement and achievement. This study aimed to develop a Flipping Book-based e-book as an interactive learning tool for the Basic Skin Care course in vocational high school settings. Utilizing a Research and Development (R&D) approach with the ADDIE model, the study involved 60 tenth-grade students divided into experimental and control groups. Validation results by material and media experts showed high feasibility, with average validity scores of 0.924 and 0.935, respectively. Practicality testing also indicated excellent usability, with a practicality score of 93%. Effectiveness was tested through an independent sample t-test, revealing a significant improvement in the experimental group compared to the control group (p < 0.05). The N-Gain analysis showed a moderate learning improvement (0.61) for the experimental group and a low improvement (0.15) for the control group. These findings confirm that the Flipping Book-based e-book effectively enhances student learning outcomes in vocational education, particularly skill-oriented courses like Basic Skin Care. Future research is recommended to expand the application of similar interactive e-learning innovations across other vocational disciplines.

Abstract

Education in the digital era demands increased digital integration in the world of education. This requires innovative learning media that can increase student engagement and achievement. However, this condition also presents challenges and demands for educators to have the ability to integrate information technology interactively during the learning process, so that learning objectives can be achieved optimally. Therefore, learning media are needed that support the learning process both classically and independently. This study aims to develop a flipbook-based e-module as an interactive learning tool for the Makeup course in the Beauty Education Study Program, Semarang State University. This study uses the Research and Development R&D (Research and Development) approach with the ADDIE model, which consists of five stages: analyze, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. Data collection was carried out through interviews, observation sheets, and tests. The validation results using the observation sheet showed an average score of 87.33%, while validation by material experts obtained an average score of 90.66%. Both results indicate that the developed e-module is valid and very feasible to use. The trial using the one group pretest-posttest model resulted in an average pretest score of 58.4% and an average posttest score of 86%. Meanwhile, the results of the student questionnaire showed that the use of the flipbook-based e-module obtained an average score of 77%, which is included in the very feasible category. Based on the results of the validation, trial, and student responses, it can be concluded that the developed flipbook-based e-module meets the criteria of being very valid and feasible to use as a supporting medium in a directed and effective learning process.

Abstract

This study developed a career exploration module embedded within the Ethics and Teaching Profession course to help vocational students make thoughtful and informed career decisions. Many students in the Informatics and Computer Engineering Education (PTIK) program often feel uncertain about pursuing a teaching career or entering the technology sector. The module included structured reflection and value-based activities to help students align their personal goals with professional paths. Using the ADDIE model—Analyze, Design, Develop, Implement, and Evaluate—the researchers implemented the module with sixth-semester PTIK students at Institut Prima Bangsa Cirebon. Experts validated the content and media, and classroom trials measured its practicality and impact. Findings showed improved students’ ability to recognize their values, explore options, evaluate consequences, and make responsible choices. As a result, students gained greater confidence and clarity in their career planning, reduced indecision, and demonstrated more substantial alignment between their choices and long-term aspirations. The module supported ethical, realistic, and goal-driven decision-making.

This research uses the ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation) development model. Data analysis used in this study consisted of: quantitative descriptive analysis to determine the feasibility of section combs; N-Gain and independent sample t-tests to determine the effectiveness of section combs; and percentage distribution analysis to determine practicality. The feasibility test results found that the section combs were categorized as very feasible. The results of the effectiveness test found an N-Gain value of 58.47, included in the fairly effective category, and a T-Test value of 24.787, there was a significant increase between the average N-Gain of the experimental class and the control class. The practicality test of the section comb teaching aid found a value of 84, included in the "very practical" category.
