Abstract

This article examined the concept of leadership in the Quran, focusing on the word caliph, which appears twice: in Surah Al-Baqarah, verse 30, and Surah Sad, verse 26. In Surah Al-Baqarah, the word caliph refers to Adam, whom Allah endowed with knowledge, whereas in Surah Sad, it refers to David, whom Allah commanded to rule in justice. Both keywords, knowledge and justice, align with the teachings of Surah Al-Ahzab, which emphasize that the divine trust inherently entails leadership. Surah Al-Ahzab describes humanity that undertook this trust as unjust and ignorant. Based on these three surahs, leadership in the Quran holds a unique characteristic: it defines a leader as a human being who must possess knowledge for self-guidance and embody justice when governing others. Another characteristic is that a leader must avoid the opposites of these qualities: ignorance and injustice.

Abstract

The rapid development of financial technology has transformed banking services, including Islamic banking, which strives to meet Muslims’ financial needs in accordance with Islamic principles. This study aims to examine the influence of Sharia compliance and system security on consumer perceptions and satisfaction with Islamic digital banking services. Using a quantitative approach, data were collected through an online survey of 103 Muslim Islamic bank customers in Greater Jakarta, Indonesia. PLS-SEM analysis showed that Sharia compliance and security significantly influenced consumer perceptions (R² = 0.826), whereas perceptions and security contributed to consumer satisfaction (R² = 0.668). The results of the hypothesis test indicate that Sharia compliance has a positive and significant effect on perceptions but not directly on consumer satisfaction. Perception mediates the relationship between Shariah compliance and consumer satisfaction. Security significantly influences consumer perception and satisfaction. This study emphasizes the importance of integrating Sharia compliance and security to improve customer perceptions and satisfaction with Islamic digital banking.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze management policies including internal audit development, Corporate Governance, and digital fundraising strategies and their influence on fundraising performance at Zakat institutions in Indonesia. Employing a quantitative Structural Equation Model (SEM) approach, with data analysis conducted using Smart PLS 4, data was collected via questionnaires distributed to Zakat Amil across various institutions. The results indicate that the internal audit process significantly affects Corporate Governance. Crucially, both Corporate Governance and digital fundraising were found to have a strong positive effect on Zakat fundraising outcomes. These predictor variables demonstrate very strong explanatory power, evidenced by R-squared values of 0.911 for Corporate Governance and 0.961 for Zakat collection, collectively explaining a significant portion of the variation in Zakat collection. Therefore, the main recommendation of this research is the reinforcement of internal audit as a determinant of effective governance and sustained investment in digital fundraising to maximize national Zakat potential.

Abstract

This study analyzes the effects of zakat, the Human Development Index (HDI), and unemployment on regional economic growth in Jakarta Special Capital Region (DKI Jakarta). The study employs a quantitative approach using secondary panel data covering seven geographical units in DKI Jakarta over the 2020–2024 period. The units of observation comprise the Thousand Islands, South Jakarta, East Jakarta, Central Jakarta, West Jakarta, North Jakarta, and DKI Jakarta Province, resulting in 35 observations. The analysis was conducted using multiple linear regression, with Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) at constant prices as the dependent variable and zakat, HDI, and the unemployment rate as independent variables. The results show that zakat has a positive and significant effect on GRDP (β = 0.991; p < 0.001), whereas HDI and the unemployment rate do not have statistically significant effects. Simultaneously, the three independent variables significantly affect GRDP (F = 572.917; p < 0.001), with a coefficient of determination (R²) of 0.982. These findings indicate that the role of zakat is more pronounced in aggregate economic growth than in employment absorption, suggesting that strengthening the function of zakat should be accompanied by structural employment policies. The main contribution of this study lies in developing an integrated model that links Islamic social finance, human development, employment, and economic growth within the regional context of DKI Jakarta.
