Abstract

A gas reservoir with bottom water drive has lower recovery factor compared to depletion drive gas reservoir. Along with the increase in gas demand and the majority of gas reservoirs are water-drive, a method that are still being developed to increase the recovey factor in water-drive gas reservoir is co-production method. This method reducing water influx by planned water production. In this study, a conceptual model of gas reservoir with depletion-drive and water-drive is build and being analyzed. Co-production technique is applied by adding one water production well to the water-drive gas reservoir. The recovery factor is being analyzed through some production scenarios. Sensitivity analysis are being done with parameters including: reservoir permeability, permeability anisotropy, aquifer volume, flow rate of water production, gas tubing head pressure, and gas well perforation interval Furthermore, experimental design, response surface methodology, and monte carlo simulation is used to analyze the influencing parameter of gas recovery factor. It is found from this study that co production increased gas recovery factor by 28% from water drive gas reservoir, with water production rate is the most influencing parameter.

Abstract

The demand for fossil fuels continue to increase, this encourages the production of hydrocarbons to be increased as well. Enhanced Oil Recovery is one option that can be considered to overcome this high demand. Technical complexity and sophisticated technology are commonly used in EOR implementation. This has become one of the obstacles to implement EOR, one of which is the requirement relatively large funding. Microbial Enhanced Oil Recovery is one method that can be considered as a technology that can fulfill commercial production gains and the resulting environmental impact is lower than other EOR methods. MEOR uses micro-organisms whose metabolism results can change the physical properties in the reservoir so that oil production can be increased.

Abstract

The region in Indonesia is indicated to have many critical lands. Critical lands are lands that have experienced degradation so that the land cannot function properly. In other words, efforts to obtain benefits from the level of productivity that should not be comparable to the results of production. Therefore, efforts must be made to improve the land so that its productivity can recover. In the Curug sub-district, Bogor City, there are critical lands. This critical land is caused by steep land topology and high rainfall. One of the critical land areas is the Curug River watershed. The slope of the land on the side of the river exceeds a slope of 45º. High rainfall causes the land to experience cracks accompanied by subsidence of the land surface. One of the handling efforts that can be carried out on an ongoing basis is integrated reforestation. Based on these problems, the aim of this community service (PKM) is to provide education regarding the dangers of critical land and cultivating critical land with durian seeds. This activity was carried out by a team consisting of source persons, lecturers and students from the Faculty of Earth and Energy Technology, Trisakti University. The PKM activity was attended by the Head of RW 13 and the Head of RT 3 in Curug Village and their staff. Apart from that, the PKM was attended by the men and women of RT 3 residents who actively participated in counseling activities and planting durian seeds along the areas along the river and other areas.

Abstract

One phenomenon that can occur when a polymer solution is injected into an oil reservoir is adsorption. Adsorption occurs due to interactions between polymer molecules and the reservoir pore surface. Adsorption causes some polymer molecules to be removed from solution. So, this process results in a reduction in the polymer concentration in the solution. In this study, an artificial neural network (ANN) model is used to estimate the adsorption of shrimp chitosan polymer on the surface of 40 mesh and 60 mesh sand grains. The ANN model can estimate adsorption more accurately than previous models. This is because previous models only predicted certain adsorption patterns, while the ANN model is able to predict adsorption with complex relationships. The comparison of the mean absolute relative errors (MAREs) of the ANN, Langmuir, Freundlich, Henry, and Harkins-Jura models is 5.7%, 15.9%, 14.6%, 15.2%, and 14.5%, respectively.

Abstract

Adsorption is the process of interaction between a liquid and a solid surface. It happens because of physical forces or chemical bonds, which moves substance molecules dissolved in a liquid to the solid surface. As a result, the concentration of the substance in the solution drops. In this study, an artificial neural network (ANN) was applied to model the adsorption of Amorphophallus oncophyllus Prain and xanthan gum on sand grains with sizes of 40 mesh and 60 mesh. Two ANN models were developed. The first ANN model was used to predict the final concentration of the polymer solution after the adsorption process. This model had a correlation coefficient for the training, validation, and testing phases of 0.9968, 0.9982, and 0.9990, respectively. Meanwhile the second ANN model was used to predict the adsorbed polymer. This model had a correlation coefficient for the training, validation, and testing phases of 0.9984, 0.9996, and 0.9985, respectively. These models were capable of accurately predicting the final concentration and adsorbed polymer when compared to laboratory data.

Abstract

Smart waterflooding is a widely discussed topic for oil recovery improvement, with the main mechanism believed to be wettability alteration. However, the exact phenomena behind this effect are still being debated. This systematic literature review (SLR) utilized the Scopus database to analyze and assess studies on the interfacial tension (IFT) and zeta potential (ZP) concepts and their impact on smart waterflooding between 2017 and 2021. The review was conducted using the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) methodology. The review found inconsistencies in the literature, with some studies suggesting that the reduction of IFT from smart waterflooding was not the reason for oil recovery improvement. Further evidence on the alteration of surface charge through ZP analysis is needed, and gaps are present in the area of simulation approach. The study suggests that improvements in model development and experimental setup design are necessary for future studies to obtain comprehensive conclusions. In summary, this SLR provides a critical overview of the recent understanding of the impact of IFT and ZP on smart waterflooding and highlights areas for further research, including a potential model that incorporates each mechanism with the ultimate oil recovery.

Abstract

Porang tubers contain glucomannan which is used in various industries. Porang is a biopolymer that has the potential to be applied in polymer flooding in oil reservoirs. In this research, a combination of porang and Xanthan gum was used for displacing oil in the laboratory. The samples analyzed varied with polymer concentrations of 2000, 4000, and 6000 ppm respectively for porang solution, Xanthan gum, and a mixture of porang and Xanthan gum. The salinity of the formation water used in this research was 6000, 12000 and 18000 ppm. The experiment aimed to observe the characteristics and performance of porang and Xanthan gum including testing for compatibility, viscosity, adsorption and sandpack flooding. Based on the test results, all samples were compatible. The application of a mixture of porang and Xanthan gum provided lower adsorption compared to the application of only Xanthan gum. The highest reduction in adsorption value given was 3.545 mg/gr. The highest viscosity and additional recovery factor were given by a mixture of porang and Xanthan gum with a concentration of 6,000 ppm and a salinity of 18,000 ppm, namely 284.72 cP and 16.1%, respectively.
