Abstract

This research aims to understand the social construction of visually impaired students regarding the urgency of Arabic language education at the State Islamic University (UIN) Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta. Arabic plays an essential role in Islamic academic fields; however, accessibility for visually impaired students in learning the language remains challenging. Using a qualitative approach, this case study explores the experiences, challenges, and perceptions of visually impaired students in relation to Arabic language learning. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with several visually impaired students and the head and staff of the Disability Services Center (PLD) at UIN Sunan Kalijaga. The findings reveal that visually impaired students have a strong understanding of the urgency of Arabic, both for academic purposes and for enhancing future career opportunities. However, they also voiced various barriers, including limited support facilities and incompatible technology with their needs. This study is expected to provide insights for developing more inclusive policies in Arabic language education for visually impaired students in Islamic higher education settings.

Abstract

ABSTRAK Posyandu (Pos Pelayanan Terpadu) adalah program layanan kesehatan ibu dan anak yang diselenggarakan oleh warga di tingkat Rukun Warga dengan dukungan teknis tenaga kesehatan. Kegiatan Posyandu merupakan bagian dari kegiatan organisasi perempuan yang bernama PKK (Pemberdayaan Kesejahteraan Keluarga). Pelaksana kegiatan Posyandu adalah anggota PKK dan mereka disebut Kader Posyandu. Para Kader Posyandu kebanyakan sangat terampil dan aktif di masyarakat sehingga mereka seringkali juga dilibatkan oleh desa untuk berbagai kegiatan selain bidang kesehatan.  Namun, kegiatan Posyandu kini tidak hanya berperan dalam bidang kesehatan melainkan dalam bidang lainnya. Penelitian ini dilakukan di Desa Cipacing sebuah Desa yang bersifat sub-urban di Jawa Barat. Tujuan dari penelitian ini menelusuri dan menggambarkan peran para perempuan kader Posyandu selain di bidang kesehatan. Metode yang dilakukan adalah metode kualitatif-etnografi dengan Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui teknik pengamatan terlibat dan wawancara mendalam pada kader-kader Posyandu dan para warga desa. Analisis dilakukan dengan merujuk pada kerangka teori peran sosial-kultural dan teori peran gender. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa para perempuan kader Posyandu memiliki peran sosial-budaya penting, diantaranya sebagai agen pemberdayaan ekonomi, aktivis sosial, aktivis keagamaan, pelestari tradisi lokal, serta pemegang otoritas kewilayahan. Di dalam menjalankan peran-peran itu, mereka tetap mengakar pada peran gender mereka sebagai perempuan. Kata Kunci: Perempuan, Kader, Posyandu, Peran Sosial-budaya,  GenderABSTRACT Posyandu (Integrated Service Post) is a maternal and child healthcare program organized by community members at the neighborhood level (Rukun Warga) with technical support from healthcare workers. Posyandu activities are part of a women’s organization called PKK (Family Welfare Empowerment). The activities are carried out by PKK members known as Posyandu Cadres. These cadres are often highly skilled and active in the community, which leads to their involvement in various village activities beyond healthcare. However, Posyandu activities today encompass not only health-related roles but also other areas. This study was conducted in Cipacing Village, a semi-urban area in West Java. The purpose of the research is to explore and describe the roles of female Posyandu cadres beyond the healthcare sector. The study uses a qualitative-ethnographic method, with data collected through participant observation and in-depth interviews with Posyandu cadres and village residents. The analysis refers to the theoretical frameworks of socio-cultural roles and gender roles. The findings show that female Posyandu cadres hold important socio-cultural roles, including serving as agents of economic empowerment, social activists, religious activists, preservers of local traditions, and holders of territorial authority. In performing these roles, they remain rooted in their gender roles as women.Keywords: Women, Cadres, Posyandu, Social-Cultural role, gender

Abstract

Abstrak Sejarah Artikel : Submitted:2025-02-07 Accepted: Publish Online: Latar Belakang: Prestasi belajar merupakan indikator penting dalam menilai pengetahuan siswa. Hasil Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) 2022 mengungkapkan bahwa prestasi belajar siswa Indonesia berada di bawah rata-rata dunia. Prestasi belajar dapat dipengaruhi oleh kualitas tidur serta tingkat stres, terutama di lingkungan pesantren, dengan rutinitas yang padat dan peraturan yang ketat. Penelitian terdahulu mengungkapkan hasil yang berbeda-beda terkait kaitan antara kualitas tidur, tingkat stres, dan prestasi belajar. Tujuan: Mengkaji hubungan kualitas tidur dan tingkat stres terhadap prestasi belajar pada Santriwati SMA Pesantren Bina Madani Putri Magelang. Metode: Desain penelitian ini adalah kuantitatif dengan metode cross-sectional. Sampel berjumlah 75 santriwati yang ditentukan melalui stratified random sampling. Data dikumpulkan melalui kuesioner PSQI, K10, dan nilai rapor, lalu dianalisis menggunakan uji chi-square. Hasil: Tidak ada hubungan antara kualitas tidur dan prestasi belajar (p=0,727), tetapi hubungan signifikan ditemukan antara tingkat stres dan prestasi belajar (p=0,028). Simpulan: Kualitas tidur tidak menunjukkan hubungan signifikan dengan prestasi belajar, sedangkan tingkat stres terbukti memiliki hubungan yang signifikan.

Abstract

This article examines the socio-cultural factors that shape women’s participation in empowerment group at a tea plantation area in Highland West Java. Applying a qualitative ethnographic method, the study draws on data obtained through participant observation and in-depth interviews with members of a women’s empowerment group, named Kalintem Sabeungkeutan. The results of this study suggest that women’s participation in empowerment activities is shaped by interrelated factors, including social capital and networks, gender relations, prevailing norms, and local cultural values. Women’s participation unfolds through everyday negotiations within household and community contexts, particularly in relation to domestic responsibilities and social expectations. Social capital, manifested in trust and a sense of togetherness, facilitates engagement in collective activities, while gendered divisions of labour and subtle social norms may constrain participation. For the women involved, empowerment is recognised through practical and relational experiences, such as gaining space to learn, feeling socially accepted, and contributing to family and community life. At the same time, differences in values, orientations toward learning, and norms of reciprocity shape who remains involved and who gradually withdraws. This study highlights the necessity of developing empowerment strategies that are culturally grounded and inclusive. Recognising empowerment as a socially embedded and relational process, this will enable women to sustain participation within their communities. The practical implications suggest the importance of expanding social capital from bonding to bridging and designing empowerment initiatives that account for women’s domestic responsibilities to enhance inclusivity and sustainability.
