Abstract

This research aims to determine the effect of video tutorial media on the ability to write descriptive text for students in class VII MTsN 2 Medan for the 2023/2024 academic year. The population of this study was all class VII MTsN 2 Medan for the 2023/2024 academic year, consisting of 10 classes with a total of 320 students. The samples taken were classes VII-1 and VII-4, totaling 32 students in each class. The method used is an experimental research method, this will use the "two group post-test design" model. The instrument used is a description test. Hypothesis testing was carried out using the "t" test. Data without using video tutorial media was classified as not meeting the minimum completeness criteria (KKM) with an average value (mean) of 68.21, students' skills in writing descriptive text using video tutorial media were classified as meeting the category. minimum completeness criteria (KKM) with an average value (mean) of 90.75. Next, hypothesis testing shows tcount>ttable with a value with the t stat getting a value of -15.94956082 and t Critical two-tail getting a value of 2.000297822 so it can be concluded that Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted.

Abstract

In today's technological era, the flow of information flowing into society is so swift. For this reason, students are required to master a variety of information and knowledge materials. Reading skills play a very important role in everyday life. But not just reading the words, reading skills include the ability to understand the explicit and implied meaning of sentences, paragraphs, and the whole text as a unit. This shows that reading is a complex and challenging process. Reading skills are also formed through a series of long processes. Therefore, learners starting from the primary school level need to master strategies to improve reading skills in all subjects to understand learning materials. Learners should be taught reading skills according to their level. Without mastering reading skills at their level, learners will not be able to access knowledge. Reading skills are also a measure of global competence tested in the Program for International Student Assessment (PISA). Unfortunately, the reading scores of Indonesian students continue to decline from year to year. Seeing these conditions, strengthening literacy in Indonesian language subjects needs to be done by teachers as the frontline of the nation's education process. Teachers are expected to assist students to understand reading material and train students to reason through reading texts.

Abstract

This research aims to describe the framing of the 2024 presidential election news on tvonenews.com and explain the interpretation of the 2024 presidential election news on tvonenews.com. The research method uses descriptive analysis with Pan and Kosicki's framing analysis approach. The main data used comes from political news published in the media tvonenews.com in the period 14 November 2023-14 January 2024. Then the data was analyzed using Zhongdang Pan and Gerald M. Kosicki's framing analysis using four analytical structures, namely syntax, script, thematic , and rhetorical. To explain the interpretation of the news, the author uses Van Djik's critical discourse analysis with analysis of social cognition and social context. The results of the research show that Pan and Kosicki's framing analysis revealed that the news framing presented by tvonenews.com was unbalanced and in favor of one of the partners, which could influence people's attitudes and provide different interpretations in society.

Abstract

The limitations in short story writing skills in Indonesian language learning include students' compositions being too short, their ideas or concepts not being well-developed, limited vocabulary to string together their ideas, difficulties in organizing sentences, and lack of direction in their writing forms. Therefore, guidelines are needed to gather ideas and arrange them into coherent and cohesive paragraphs, thus improving students' writing skills. By enhancing writing skills, students can think creatively, communicate with readers, and deepen their understanding. This study aims to determine the validity and practicality of short story writing teaching materials in the form of a website that has been developed. This research is developmental research using the ADDIE development model with the research subjects being fourth-grade students at UPT SDN 060866 Medan. The research instruments used are validation questionnaires and response questionnaires. The results of the validity test by material experts showed a percentage of 94.59% with the conclusion of being in the "very valid" category. The average percentage of teacher responses to the practicality of the website-based teaching materials reached 86.11%, and the percentage of student responses was 85.88%. These results indicate that the quality of the media can be categorized as "Very Practical." Thus, it can be stated that the website-based teaching materials developed meet the criteria of being very valid and very practical and can be used and implemented in elementary school learning activities.

Abstract

The learning resources teachers use are inadequate, making students bored, and the absence of innovative planning to improve teaching materials motivates researchers to develop teaching materials. This research aims to determine the validity, practicality, and effectiveness of folklore teaching materials assisted by digital comics. This type of research is research and development (Research and Development) with the ADDIE model, which consists of 5 development stages: Analyze, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. The subjects in this research were 22 students in class 3B of SD Negeri 101764 Bandar Klippa. Data collection techniques in this research used interviews, observation, questionnaires, and tests. The results of the research show 1) The development of folklore teaching materials assisted by digital comics uses the ADDIE development model, 2) The feasibility test by material experts and the design experts is at a very decent qualification, 3) The practicality test carried out by the class 4B teacher was at a very practical qualification, 4) The effectiveness test showed very effective results as seen from the pre-test results which experienced an increase in the post-test results in each lesson 1, 2 and 3 on students' writing and speaking abilities. AbtsrakSumber belajar yang digunakan guru kurang memadai membuat peserta didik menjadi bosan serta tidak adanya perencanaan inovasi untuk memperbaiki bahan ajar memotivasi peneliti untuk melakukan mengembangkan materi ajar. Tujuan dalam penelitian ini yaitu untuk mengetahui validitas, praktikalitas, efektivitas Materi ajar cerita rakyat berbantuan komik digital. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian dan pengembangan (Research and Development) dengan model ADDIE yang terdiri dari 5 tahap pengembangan yaitu : Analyze, Design, Development, Implementation, dan Evaluation. Subjek dalam penelitian ini adalah peserta didik kelas 3B SD Negeri 101764 Bandar Klippa yang berjumlah 22 peserta didik. Teknik pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini menggunakan wawancara, observasi, kuesioner, dan tes. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa 1) Pengembangan Materi Ajar cerita rakyat berbantuan komik digital ini menggunakan model pengembangan ADDIE, 2) Uji kelayakan oleh ahli materi dan ahli desain berada pada kualifikasi sangat layak, 3) Uji kepraktisan yang dilakukan oleh guru kelas 4B berada pada kualifikasi sangat praktis, 4) Uji keefektifan menunjukkan hasil sangat efektif terlihat dari hasil pre-test yang mengalami peningkatan pada hasil post-test disetiap pembelajaran 1, 2 dan 3 pada kemampuan menulis dan berbicara peserta didik.Kata Kunci: Cerita rakyat; komik digital; materi ajar; pengembangan

Abstract

Improving Higher Order Thinking and numeracy literacy of elementary school students is indispensable in facing the challenges of 21st century education. The goal of this study is to Indonesian teaching materials based on a thematic learning model designed to strengthen these two skills in elementary school students. This study uses a research and development (R&D) approach with a 4-D model, namely Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate. The subjects of this study include fourth grade students of SD Thomas Alva Edison Medan. The data collection method in the study uses questionnaires, questionnaires are used to analyze student needs, product validity tests by experts, and product trials. The analysis technique used in this study is quantitative descriptive. The results of the study show that the teaching materials developed are valid and effective, as evidenced by a percentage of 83% with a good category from material experts. The results of the validity test from teaching material design experts showed a percentage of 85% with a good category. The results of the validity test from linguists showed a percentage of 90% with a very good category. The results of the effectiveness test conducted in individuals and small groups showed that the percentage of effectiveness of individuals was 90% with the very good category and the small group was 94% with the very good category. This shows that the teaching materials developed have excellent effectiveness. The results of this study prove that Indonesian teaching materials designed with a thematic approach have great potential in supporting more integrated and contextual learning.

Abstract

The background to this research is the importance of developing effective communication skills from an early age, especially considering the role of communication in social and academic life. Pragmatic abilities, which include understanding and using language in social contexts, are the main focus in efforts to improve elementary school students' communication skills. This research aims to examine the importance of teaching pragmatics in language to elementary school (SD) students in order to improve communication skills and evaluate the impact of learning pragmatics towards students' social interactions. .The methods used include observations, interviews, and pedagogical interventions in the form of role plays, group discussions, and situational exercises designed to increase students' pragmatic awareness. The research results show that students become better able to understand the context of a conversation, adapt their language style to the person they are talking to, and show an increase in self-confidence when communicating. students who were involved in pragmatics training showed significant improvements in their communication abilities, both in speaking and listening skills. So it can be concluded that the integration of pragmatics teaching in the language curriculum at elementary school level can make an important contribution in forming better communication skills in students. The implementation of learning strategies that focus on real situations and social interactions is recommended in the curriculum to optimize the development of students' communication skills from an early age.

Abstract

This study is a qualitative descriptive research aimed at analyzing and describing strategies for handling children with speech delay through the implementation of the singing method at PAUD Farhany Khair. The research method employed is field research with a qualitative descriptive approach, allowing the researcher to gain an in-depth understanding of the phenomenon being studied. The research subjects include the school principal, parents of children with speech delay, and educators involved in the learning process. Data collection was conducted through in-depth interviews and participatory observations to obtain comprehensive information. The results of this study indicate that the singing method can be an effective strategy for stimulating language development in children with speech delay. This method helps enhance children's attention, verbal responses, and engagement in communication, thereby positively impacting their speech development.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kesalahan berbahasa Indonesia yang ditemukan dalam terjemahan buku Harry Potter karya J.K. Rowling. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah studi kasus dengan pendekatan kualitatif, yang berfokus pada analisis teks terjemahan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kesalahan penerjemahan sering kali disebabkan oleh perbedaan struktural antara bahasa Inggris dan bahasa Indonesia, keterbatasan kosakata, serta tantangan dalam menerjemahkan idiom dan nuansa budaya. Kesalahan-kesalahan ini dapat memengaruhi pemahaman dan pengalaman membaca pembaca. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini menekankan pentingnya peningkatan kualitas terjemahan melalui revisi yang teliti, penyusunan glosarium istilah khusus, dan kolaborasi antara penerjemah dan ahli linguistik.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis bahan ajar Bahasa Indonesia dan pengaruhnya terhadap tingkat pemahaman isi bacaan siswa. Studi ini menggunakan metode penelitian studi kasus kualitatif dengan pendekatan deskriptif. Data dikumpulkan melalui observasi, wawancara, dan analisis dokumen terhadap bahan ajar yang digunakan dalam pembelajaran Bahasa Indonesia. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kualitas bahan ajar memiliki dampak signifikan terhadap pemahaman siswa dalam membaca. Beberapa bahan ajar yang digunakan masih memiliki keterbatasan dalam hal penyajian materi, struktur teks, dan relevansi dengan pengalaman siswa, sehingga menyulitkan mereka dalam memahami isi bacaan. Selain itu, ditemukan bahwa faktor seperti penggunaan bahasa, ilustrasi pendukung, dan keterkaitan dengan konteks kehidupan siswa berperan penting dalam meningkatkan efektivitas bahan ajar. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini menekankan perlunya pengembangan bahan ajar yang lebih interaktif, kontekstual, dan sesuai dengan tingkat pemahaman siswa agar dapat meningkatkan keterampilan membaca dan berpikir kritis mereka.
