Abstract

This research aim to propose a new approach to detect obstacles and to estimate the distance of the obstacle which is in this case applied to smart wheelchair equipped with camera and line laser. The camera capture the image of line laser reflected in front of the wheelchair to detect any existing obstacle on the wheelchair’s pathway based on the line shape of reflected line laser. Obstacle’s distance is estimated using Linier Regression. Linier Regression method used in this research is stepwise model using k-Means clustering. Linear Regression method with stepwise model will be used to represent the correlation between the distance of the line laser in the image and the actual distance of the obstacle in real world. The result of Linear Regression with stepwise model using k-Means clustering gave better result with RMSE of 3.541 cm than simple Linear Regression with RMSE of 5.367 cm.

Abstract

This paper presents an approach of obstacle distance estimation for smart wheelchair. A smart wheelchair was equipped with a camera and a laser line. The camera was used to capture an image from the environment in order to sense the pathway condition. The laser line was used in combination with camera to recognize an obstacle in the pathway based on the shape of laser line image in certain angle. A blob method detection was then applied on the laser line image to separate and recognize the pattern of the detected obstacles. The laser line projector and camera which was mounted in fixed-certain position ensured a fixed relation between blobs-gap and obstacle-to-wheelchair distance. A simple linear regression from 16 obtained data was used to respresent this relation as the estimated obstacle distance. As a result, the average error between the estimation and the actual distance was 1.25 cm from 7 data testing experiments. Therefore, the experiment results show that the proposed method was able to estimate the distance between wheelchair and the obstacle.

Abstract

Disability may limit someone to move freely, especially when the severity of the disability is high. In order to help disabled people control their wheelchair, head movement-based control is preferred due to its reliability. This paper proposed a head direction detector framework which can be applied to wheelchair control. First, face and nose were detected from a video frame using Haar cascade classfier. Then, the detected bounding boxes were used to initialize Kernelized Correlation Filters tracker. Direction of a head was determined by relative position of the nose to the face, extracted from tracker’s bounding boxes. Results show that the method effectively detect head direction indicated by 82% accuracy and very low detection or tracking failure.

Abstract

The internet has encouraged the emergence of a new paradigm in the use of computing, marked by the emergence of devices that are connected to each other or known as the Internet of Things (IoT). One of the factors that contributed to the rapid emergence of "things" in the IoT network was the rapid development of chip technology and also increasingly varied wireless communication technology. With the emergence of the phenomenon of the development of IoT, especially those involving entrepreneurial opportunities in related fields, it is considered important to be introduced early on to students of vocational-high school equivalents in Indonesia. The activity was held in September 2019 at Filkom UB involving 41 participants from 6 schools of vocational-high school or equivalent. The activity succeeded in increasing the participant's understanding of the theory and also the practice of IoT where the participants' pre-test and post-test scores increased from an average of 61.6 to 92.9. The implementation of the activity was also declared successful from the results of the questionnaire. From a total of 425 answers, there were 17 STS answers, 39 TS answers, 205 S answers and 164 SS answers. Taking into account the positive and negative components, a recapitulation of 415 answers (98%) was found to be satisfied with the implementation of the activities.

Abstract

Shrimp cultivation in Indonesia has been increasing since the introduction of white leg shrimp or often known as vaname (Penaeus vannamei) from the South Pacific waters. The use of a cultivation model with a circular pond with a diameter of 10 meters has begun to attract shrimp farmers in the northern coastal areas of Java, including Tuban Regency. There are several water quality parameters that affects survival rate such as Dissolved Oxygen (DO), Temperature, and Total Dissolved Solids (TDS). Shrimp pond farmers in Tuban Regency have used digital measuring tools to monitor the environmental conditions. However, these measurements cannot be carried out continuously for 24 hours. This often causes delays in identifying problems that occur in ponds and eventually impacts on reducing biomass weight, resulting in not achieving harvest targets. In this study, a continuous monitoring system for water quality management was designed and implemented. The system consists of an IoT-based water quality monitoring device combined with a Shrimp Aquaculture Management Information System. Based on the system that has been built, it is found that the system has been able to acquire all sensor parameters and send them to the server. The results of calibration and prediction using linear regression show that the average data reading error is achieving 14% for DO sensors, and 1% each for temperature and TDS sensors. The aggregated data is presented in tabular and graphic formats so that daily monitoring and predictions can be carried out in ponds.

Abstract

Stunting is a chronic nutritional problem characterized by height and weight problems. Toddlers who have height and weight of more than minus 2 standard deviations are at risk of suffering from stunting and require monitoring for 3 to 6 consecutive months. Currently, the system still measures toddlers' height and weight, then matches it with the World Health Organization(WHO) growth data table. Therefore, we proposed to develop a system to detect height and weight as well as the risk of stunting in toddlers using an ultrasonic sensor, load cell, and backpropagation algorithm. In its implementation, the ultrasonic sensor achieves an accuracy of 99%, and the load cell reaches 93%. The system uses backpropagation neural network method, which achieved an R of 0.99845 using 3 inputs, 16 hidden layers,1 layer for re-weighting, and 1 output layer. The mean squared error reaches 0.01 with 2 prediction classes, low risk, and high riskstunting. Overall, the total system accuracy can reach 97.75%.

Abstract

Hydroponics is a method of farming that does not use soil as a growing medium, but only use water containing nutrients that plants need. One of the factors success of planting with this method is affected by how the owners do care for the plants. Primary the treatments are done to ensure the circulation of nutrients or watering is given a timely manner in sufficient quantities. There was a time hydroponic plant owners are not anywhere near the planting area so that is not directly taking care of the plants. In order for hydroponic plant owners will still be able to care for and monitor the environmental conditions of the plant although it is far from the planting site, the project in this paper provides an alternative solution to overcome these problems. Device made in this project combining the capabilities of arduino mega as a data acquisition system incorporating ethernet shield for data transmission through the Internet, DHT11 sensor to read the temperature and humidity, special applications android blynk as monitoring tools, and RTC for timing in realtime. Arduino Mega is also associated with ignition relay to set the sprinkler pumps or circulatory water. Based on testing conducted found that each module can work well according to its function. With the appropriate network quality testing (average delay to blynk server is 1242ms, obtained by the process of sending commands and execution watering and environmental data delivery takes about 1-2 minutes.

Abstract

Dehydration is a condition when human body tissue's loss of fluid abnormally and this condition often underestimated by common people, so in case on serious level illness of dehydration will causes death. However nowadays to detect dehydration still according to analysis from health team by some clinical sign that cause dehydration. From this problem, it is needed a research about automatic system to detect dehydration level that can use by common people, so can decrease amount of dehydration's patient that untreated since begining. On this research, the parameters were used to compare dehydration's level are color and level of ammonia in human urine. The reason of using urine as research object is because urine condition reflect fluid condition in human body. Process to determine dehydration's level from color and level of ammonia in human urine is perform with read data color sensor TCS3200 and gas sensor MQ135 by Arduino Uno Microcontroler with Naive Bayes method. Naive Bayes method is selected as a technique to make a decision of dehydrations level because this method was one of classification method that good, which the classification classes of dehdydration level were already known since begining. From some testing result, it has known that the error percentage of color sensor TCS3200 on read the color object was 2,70% and the corelation value of gas sensor MQ135 reading with out voltage of sensor was 99,81%. And then on system testing by Naive Bayes method with amount of training data was 46 data and testing data as many as 23 data, the accuration reached 95,65% with average computation time was 0,69 second.

Abstract

Incubator's Ideal temperature is one of important factors that need to consider in egg hatching process. By designing an automation system using fuzzy logic, the ideal temperature can be maintained. The system using NI LabVIEW as graphical programming language software to design the user interface monitoring temperature in incubator. There are few membership functions and models in fuzzy logic. However, still there is no guideline about selection of membership amount and fuzzy model of parameters that using in fuzzy process. In this research, compare and analyze the difference between system that didn't using fuzzy logic and system that using fuzzy logic with variant amount of memberships, those are 3, 5 and 7 memberships, where in each variant is using different model, those are Gaussian, Trapezoid, and Triangle. Based on the result of testing, difference of those three variant memberships is 12.9 and difference of those three fuzzy models is 0.8. Furthermore, amount of membership affects the output of fuzzy system, while fuzzy model is not really affected the output fuzzy system. In temperature testing, the result shows the system that didn't using fuzzy logic method took a long time to reach ideal temperature rather than system that using fuzzy logic method. Fuzzy system that using 7 memberships got smallest difference is 0.49 and took fastest time to get ideal temperature.
