Abstract

As centers of academic activity, universities generate significant waste volumes requiring systematic and sustainable management. This research aims to analyze the current state of waste management at Universitas Negeri Padang (UNP) across technical-operational, socio-institutional, economic, and regulatory dimensions; assess the participation level of the academic community; and formulate an efficient, sustainable development strategy. This study employed a qualitative descriptive method with a case study approach. Data were gathered through observation, interviews, questionnaires, and documentation studies. The strategic framework was developed using SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats) analysis, supported by Internal Factor Analysis Summary (IFAS) and External Factor Analysis Summary (EFAS) matrices. The findings reveal that UNP’s current waste management remains conventional (collect-transport-dispose), handling 1.5 to 2 tons daily without integrated source-sorting. SWOT analysis identified strong internal legal foundations and a large human resource pool as primary strengths, while the conventional system and low community participation constitute main weaknesses. Although external threats include public apathy and landfill dependency, significant opportunities exist through governmental regulatory support and potential collaborations. With an IFAS score of 1.1 and an EFAS score of 0.29, UNP is positioned in the aggressive strategy (SO) quadrant. Furthermore, economic valuation indicates a potential daily revenue of IDR 1,545,100 from recyclable waste, highlighting the viability of an integrated system. To achieve sustainable management, UNP must leverage its internal strengths to seize external opportunities. The study recommends a transition from conventional methods to an integrated model by strengthening internal regulations, optimizing 3R (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) infrastructure, implementing sustainable education programs, and fostering multi-stakeholder partnerships.

Abstract

Stunting, or stunted growth, is a serious global public health problem. The aim of this research is to investigate the dynamics of co-occurrence, trends and saturation of keywords in spatial studies related to stunting using the literature review method. This research uses bibliometric analysis with the help of Web Lens.org, Openrefine, and VOSviewer for data collection and analysis. VOSviewer can display bibliometric mapping in three different visualizations, including network visualization, overlay visualization, and density visualization. The findings of this research reveal seven topic clusters related to the subject of this research, with network visualization results showing that research with the keywords 'spatial' and 'stunting' is still relatively limited. The overlay visualization results show that this research trend only emerged at the beginning of 2020 and has not yet reached saturation point. In conclusion, there is still a lot of room for further research in this area, making spatial stunting an interesting and potentially useful area for further exploration.

Abstract

Medical solid waste management still faces obstacles several problems such as the lack of use of complete personal protective equipment (PPE) by officers and the absence of special routes for transporting waste. This study aims to evaluate medical solid waste management in hospitals. The method used was qualitative with a purposive sampling technique of 10 informants at the location concerned. Data was collected through in-depth interviews, field observations, and document review, then processed and analyzed using a triangulation table of sources and methods. Even though hospitals have SOPs that are socialized to staff, adequate human resources, funds, facilities and infrastructure, not all of them meet the requirements. The waste reduction process has not been implemented, TPHS B3 has been used as a rest area for officers, the sulo has not been closed because medical waste is buried in non-medical waste, and there is no waste transportation route available. The research results show that the management of medical and non-medical waste is not fully in accordance with applicable regulations. Therefore, it is recommended that hospitals reduce waste, monitor waste officers, and provide special routes for transporting waste in accordance with applicable regulations
