Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh variasi diameter kawat kondensor terhadap hasil distilasi etanol berbasis biomassa. Kondensor dengan diameter 1/4 inci, 3/4 inci, dan 5/16 inci diuji untuk mengevaluasi efisiensi distilasi dalam menghasilkan etanol dengan kemurnian dan volume yang optimal. Proses distilasi dilakukan selama tiga jam dengan pengukuran volume dan kadar etanol setiap jam. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pada jam pertama, kondensor 1/4 inci dan 5/16 inci menghasilkan etanol sebanyak 550 ml dengan kadar 90%, sementara kondensor 3/4 inci menghasilkan 390 ml dengan kadar yang sama. Pada jam ketiga, kadar etanol pada kondensor 1/4 inci turun menjadi 0%, sedangkan kondensor 3/4 inci mempertahankan kadar etanol sebesar 65% dengan volume distilat 170 ml. Kondensor 5/16 inci menghasilkan volume tertinggi (390 ml) namun dengan kadar etanol hanya 10%. Hasil ini menunjukkan bahwa diameter kawat kondensor mempengaruhi efisiensi distilasi, di mana kondensor berdiameter 5/16 inci memberikan keseimbangan terbaik antara volume dan kemurnian etanol yang dihasilkan. Penelitian ini berkontribusi pada pengembangan teknologi distilasi bioetanol yang lebih efisien dan mendukung kebijakan energi terbarukan di Indonesia.

Abstract

Quality human resources will bring a nation into a prosperous and prosperous nation. A prosperous and prosperous nation does not escape the technological advances that are controlled. ICT training aims to increase knowledge and insight in the field of computer information technology. This is because in the 4.0 era knowledge and skills in the field of ICT are indispensable. The COVID-19 pandemic that has hit the world and including Indonesia has affected the learning system for children. The learning system that was originally face-to-face was replaced with an online system. This is a new problem. Therefore, efforts are needed to improve skills in the field of ICT in children. From the description that has been presented regarding the skill needs of children, the community service program team took the initiative to do service with the theme of improving ICT skills in children with the target of fifth graders at SDN Tamansari 1. Service activities were carried out with three schemes consisting of preparation, preparation and implementation of activities. Results of activities The results of activities participants understand about the functions and working systems of hardware, basic software work processes and functions of Microsoft office icons. Participants are also taught how to operate a computer and use the available applications and features.

Abstract

Technological developments and increasing population have created various problems, one of which is the energy sector. Indonesia has considerable potential to develop and exploit the potential of sunlight which can be converted into electrical energy. However, these efforts cannot run well if human resources (HR) do not understand the working system of solar power plants (PLTS). Therefore, efforts are needed to introduce and explore the potential of existing human resources. The target object of community service activities is carried out to junior high school students. PLTS is an interesting technology to convey to teenagers. Besides being able to arouse curiosity about PLTS, teenagers can also provide innovations in PLTS technology. Participants were enthusiastic when participating in the event and understood various types of renewable energy and renewable energy sources and understood the working system of solar panels.

Abstract

Population growth that is not matched by the availability of job vacancies can cause the unemployment rate to increase. Therefore efforts are needed to reduce the number of unemployed through training activities. Training activities are carried out to equip youth with skills and knowledge. One of the knowledge and skills that can be given to youth is welding skills. Tamansari Village, which is located in Dringu District, Probolinggo Regency, has the potential of human resources. Therefore, efforts are needed to equip young people in Tamansari village with skills and knowledge, one of which is welding skills. The results of the community service activities that have been carried out were followed enthusiastically by the participants. Participants can understand the theory that has been presented and followed by welding skills using the SMAW welding method.

Abstract

The potential of the coffee industry in Probolinggo City, especially in the Micro, Small, and Medium-sized Enterprises food and beverage sector, including coffee shops, shows promising growth. For example, the coffee shops in the Tisnonegaran Village have become a significant tourist destination contributing to the local economy. However, coffee industry stakeholders face several challenges. The availability of high-quality coffee beans is a major concern as they often need to be sourced from outside the city, leading to stock instability and price fluctuations due to high delivery costs. To address these challenges, artisan coffee roasting technology training plays a crucial role. This training provides a deep understanding of the coffee bean roasting process, enabling coffee business owners to produce high-quality beans with unique flavor profiles. Knowledge about coffee bean selection, temperature control, and roasting times equips participants with the ability to optimize their coffee products. Furthermore, a plan for the development of artisan nano coffee roaster machine technology is also proposed to enhance the quality of mature coffee beans. Through collaboration with students, this technology's design is expected to bring innovation and a deeper understanding of effective roasting equipment and techniques. By combining training, technological development, and collaboration among coffee industry stakeholders, students, and the government, Probolinggo City has the potential to become a high-quality and competitive hub for the coffee industry in Indonesia.

Abstract

The increasing need for energy and dwindling natural reserves encourage the search for alternative energy sources. One alternative energy source is biodiesel. Biodiesel can be produced from used cooking oil through the esterification and transesterification processes. However, biodiesel sourced from plant materials has disadvantages, one of which is its low calorific value. Most studies discuss the addition of chemical additives to increase the calorific value of biodiesel. However, the addition of ethanol vapor as an air additive to increase the calorific value of biodiesel is rarely discussed. This study was conducted experimentally, the study examined the effect of adding ethanol vapor to a diesel engine through an air filter. The diesel fuel used was dexlite type diesel fuel added with biodiesel from used cooking oil as much as 10% to 30%. Testing used additional ethanol vapor channeled through an air filter with a heating temperature of 90oC to 100oC. The results of the study were in the form of crankshaft rotation, effective power, and fuel consumption. The results showed that fuel with the addition of ethanol vapor produced the highest crankshaft rotation, effective power, and fuel consumption when compared to without the addition of ethanol vapor in all variations of the given fuel composition. The highest value of crankshaft rotation, effective power is in the B0 composition with values ​​of 32.53 rev/s and 2.74 kW, respectively. While the lowest fuel consumption is in the B70 composition with the addition of ethanol vapor of 105.7 seconds.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the impact of RLC loading on the power stability and power quality in Wind Power Plant (PLTB) systems. The RLC is applied to stabilize the power generated by the PLTB system, which tends to fluctuate due to wind speed variability. The testing was conducted by measuring the output power of the PLTB system loaded with various RLC configurations. The results show that RLC loading can enhance the apparent power stability and efficiency of the PLTB system. The resistive load (R) yielded the best performance, improving the power factor to 0.95 and maintaining relatively stable output voltage. Meanwhile, the LC loads exhibited lower efficiency with a reduced power factor, but still played a role in balancing reactive power. The reduction in reactive power for inductive and capacitive loads indicates that RLC loading can help reduce power waste and improve power quality. This research makes a significant contribution to the development of more efficient and stable PLTB systems and more reliable renewable energy-based power plants, particularly in managing power stability in the face of fluctuations caused by wind variability.

Abstract

The Silo subdistrict is one of the coffee-producing villages, with a production amounting to more than 40% of the total coffee production in Jember Regency. The coffee processing produces coffee husk waste, which is often discarded into the environment and potentially causes pollution. Coffee husk waste has a high calorific value and is suitable for use as biomass fuel to produce syngas through gasification methods. The partner for this community service is GAPOKTAN Suka Maju, located in Pace Village, Silo Subdistrict, Jember Regency. GAPOKTAN Suka Maju is led by Mr. Zainal Arifin, who has 30 members. This community service aims to provide knowledge to GAPOKTAN Suka Maju members about the environmental impact of coffee husk waste disposal and the utilization of coffee husk waste as an energy source through gasification methods. The community service method consists of pre-activities, activity implementation, and evaluation. The pre-activities include designing the gasification equipment, making the gasification equipment, and drying the coffee husk waste. The implementation consists of socializing the environmental impact of coffee husk waste disposal, the energy potential of coffee husk waste, and training in gasification equipment. The results show a significant increase in the participants' understanding of the environmental impact of coffee husk waste disposal, the energy potential of coffee husk waste, and the gasification method and equipment to convert coffee husk waste into fuel.

Abstract

Pemanfaatan material komposit berbasis serat alami saat ini menjadi topik penelitian yang menarik dalam industri maritim. Selain ramah lingkungan, serat alami juga dapat menggantikan serat sintesis. Selain itu, serat alami dapat diaplikasikan pada industri maritim yaitu pada kapal tradisional. Salah satu jenis serat alami adalah serat kelapa, yang saat ini menjadi limbah pertanian dan belum termanfaatkan dengan optimal. Jika ditinjau dari keberadaanya sebagai bahan baku serat alami maka serat kelapa memiliki jumlah yang berlimpah. Serat kelapa memiliki sifat mekanik yang potensial sehingga menjadi salah satu kandidat bahan baku serat alami untuk aplikasi industri maritim. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah menganalisis pendekatan fabrikasi penggunaan serat kelapa dengan struktur mikro dan lentur menggunakan metode vacuum infusion. Untuk meningkatkan daya ikat terhadap matriks resin polyester serat kelapa diberi perlakuan alkalisasi dengan larutan NaOH 5% selama dua jam. Variasi pada penelitian ini adalah arah serat dengan arah 0°/90°, 60°/–60°, 45°/–45°, dan 30°/–30° dengan setiap sampel empat lapis. Pengujian yang dilakukan adalah uji bending dan uji struktur mikro. Uji bending dilakukan berdasarkan standar ASTM D790 menggunakan metode three-point bending sedangkan uji struktur mikro dilakukan melalui Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM). Hasil pengujian menunjukkan bahwa arah 30°/–30° menghasilkan nilai terendah sebesar 56,55 MPa sedangkan arah serat 0°/90° menghasilkan kekuatan lentur tertinggi sebesar 90,35 MPa tertinggi. Pengamatan SEM juga menunjukkan adanya celah dan fiber pull-out yang mengindikasikan area peningkatan pada teknik fabrikasi.

Abstract

Abstrak Limbah pertanian memiliki banyak manfaat, salah satunya adalah sekam padi. Saat ini sekam padi masih dimanfaatkan sebagai pupuk, briket dan katul, namun pemanfaatan sebagai insektisida masih jarang digunakan. Salah satu insektisida organik dapat diperoleh dari limbah sekam padi berupa asap cair. Asap cair diperoleh dengan metode pirolisis dengan cara menguraikan senyawa organik yang terdapat pada sekam padi. Tim Teknik Mesin Universitas Panca Marga melakukan kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat berupa pelatihan pembuatan alat pirolisis dengan bahan limbah sekam padi sebagai salah satu bentuk implementasi Tridarma Perguruan Tinggi. Hasil yang diperoleh dari kegiatan ini peserta dapat menambah ilmu pengetahuan tentang cara pembuatan alat, proses produksi asap cair dan manfaat produk bagi pertanian serta pendapatan tambahan dengan cara menjual produk asap cair melalui marketplace atau media sosial.
