Abstract

In Indonesia, Islamic boarding schools have the potential to achieve economic independence. This study aims to examine the efforts of three pesantrens in Belitang, East Oku, Indonesia to attain economic self-sufficiency without relying on government assistance. The research utilized a descriptive qualitative method with a case study approach. Data was collected through observation, direct interviews with relevant individuals, and documentation. The data was then analyzed through data reduction, presentation, and drawing conclusions. The focus of the study was Darul Huda Islamic Boarding School, Subulussalam, and Darul Falah Belitang. The research found that the three Belitang East OKU Islamic Boarding Schools achieved economic independence by establishing business units. The boarding schools played a crucial role in enhancing economic independence through the involvement of caregivers, nurturing students, administrative staff, managers of the Boarding School-Owned Enterprises, and administrative personnel in line with the boarding school policies. However, this approach also comes with weaknesses and risks, which can be addressed by maximizing the potential opportunities present in each business unit.

Abstract

Darussalam Gontor Modern Boarding School is one of the Islamic boarding schools that pays great attention to teaching Arabic. In making ta'bir ‘essay’ there are still many errors in the structure and teachers have tried to overcome the errors contained in their writings so that researchers see the need for media development with the use of modern technology. The purpose of this study is to develop learning media using macro flash which contains exercises on rules based on errors in al-Taʻbīr al-Tahrīrī lesson and to see the effectiveness of using macromedia flash in Darussalam Gontor Modern Boarding School. The type of research used is Research and Development (R&D), using qualitative-quantitative research methods, to calculate researcher data using the SPSS 16 program. From the results of the study, researchers concluded that the media product developed was in the form of the first, front screen which is the title of the program and contains a program start button. Second, the screen contains general buttons consisting of muqadimah, learning objectives, things that must be considered by the teacher and buttons to go to the practice screen. Third, the screen contains a button to go to each training title that will be done. Fourth, a screen containing exercises. The effectiveness of the program can be seen from the pre-test and post-test scores in small groups and large groups as well as from the answers to student questionnaires that show that the Macromedia flash program helps teachers and students in increasing their abilities in qāidah naḥwiyah ‘Arabic structure’. After going through several stages, researchers hope that there will be further researchers who will develop technology-based learning media in other subjects.

Abstract

Arabic without the knowledge of Ilm Nahwu cannot be understood. The Matn Alajrūmiyah and al-Jurumiyah al-Jawan are reference books for learning qawāid (Arabic grammar), commonly used in Islamic boarding school environments. All students must study Arabic grammar as a basis for their ability to read the manuscript (turāś). This research aims to explain the differences in the preparation of qawāid learning materials, especially in the Marfūat al-Asmā' chapter in the al-Jurumiyah al-Jawan book and the Matn Alajrūmiyah book so that students can detect the ease of learning Arabic using these two books. The type of research used is qualitative library research with comparative study methods. The results of the research show that both books have complete material regarding Marfūat al-Asmā' along with relevant examples. The difference lies in the additional content, where the author of the al-Jurumiyah al-Jawan book not only presents material on Arabic language rules but also inserts ancestral advice. As for the book Matn Alajrūmiyah, the author only focuses on the rules of Marfūat al-Asmā'. al-Jurumiyah al-Jawan uses the Arabic pegon script with Javanese as the language of instruction, except in examples. The Matn Alajrūmiyah uses Arabic script and Arabic as a whole. As for the style of presentation, the al-Jurumiyah al-Jawan book uses a poetry style that is relatively easy to memorize, in contrast to the Matn Alajrūmiyah, which uses a prose style.

Abstract

The relationship between the world of education and Islamic boarding schools is the same thing and is interrelated. Many things are involved and included in it. The social sphere is something that cannot be separated from Islamic boarding schools. In this advanced era, several Islamic boarding schools carry out learning developed by many groups, namely learning English, which students must also master in the current era. The method used in this service is ABCD, namely the appreciative discovery process, asset development analysis, program strategy analysis, program narrative summary, program monitoring and evaluation techniques with dormitory management partners at Islamic boarding schools. The expected target of assisting Islamic boarding school boarding school administrators in developing English is to be able to create language agents for developing English in their respective Islamic boarding schools. The assistance, material and management will be provided in developing English in Islamic boarding schools. In this way, it is hoped that after assisting Islamic boarding school administrators who become English language agents, they can develop English in their respective Islamic boarding schools.

Abstract

The deadlocks cutting ritual, known as ‘ruwatan rambut gimbal’ is one of the events in the Dieng Culture Festival which requires the presence of uborampe in its implementation. This study aims to reveal the symbolic significance of the uborampe which share a conceptual similarity with totems. This study uses a qualitative research with a semiotics analysis of Charles Sanders Peirce. The findings of this research indicate that: first, the uborempe presented in the ritual can be called a totem because it comes from animals and plants and symbolizes other sacred things. Second, the people of Dieng Banjarnegara are adherents of limited totemism or quasi totemism, because the totem in the dreadlock cutting ritual is not worshiped but contains an element of expected prayer. Third, forms of syncretism between Hindu, Javanese, and Islam appear in the use of prayer in Javanese and their meaning and offering of uborampe ritual. Fourth, the meaning of the totem in the treatment of the dreadlock cutting ritual in the perspective of Charles Sanders Peirce's Semiotics is categorised in three forms: symbols, icons, and cum icon symbols. The symbolic significance of one uborempe can be manifested in various meanings adjusted to the community that carries out the interpretation.

Abstract

This article aims to analyze student learning styles to help students recognize and develop their learning potential to the maximum. Learning Style is an easy way to absorb, manage, store and apply information. By knowing one's learning style, one can help the effectiveness of learning, maximize learning potential, increase self-confidence, and adapt learning according to individual needs. This research is qualitative in nature using descriptive analysis methods. Data collection was carried out through observation, interviews, learning style questionnaires and documentation. The number of samples taken was 24 students determined using purpose sampling techniques. Sources of information were obtained from survey results regarding learning styles, and interviews obtained from students. After analysis, the results show that students have a preference for visual learning more than other learning styles. Based on several factors, including more responsive visual learning materials, ease of understanding, ability to visualize vocabulary, use of interactive media and learning creativity. Having these four factors makes learning easier for students who have a visual learning style to accept. Thus, it can be concluded that understanding student learning styles and their use in learning Arabic can improve student learning achievement well. However, it needs to be acknowledged that this research has several weaknesses. Therefore, the author hopes that there will be further research that can explore how to identify individual learning styles to ensure optimal learning.

Abstract

Discrimination and ill-treatment of animals are still ongoing today. In the Islamic world, this is allegedly the result of a non-holistic interpretation of religious texts. This paper aims to formulate a literature zoosemiotic interpretation method of the Qur'an and apply it to Surah al-Muddaṡṡir verses 50-51. The method is formulated to explore the meaning of animal verses in the Qur'an holistically and proportionally. There are two results of the research in this article. First, the steps of the literary zoosemiotics interpretation method refer to (1) determining the typology of animals in the Qur'an based on literary zoological themes, (2) outlining asbāb al-nuzūl micro-macro and makiyyah-madaniyyah letters. (3) conducting a study of munāsabah al-āyāt, intratextual, and intertextuality, (4) reviewing the results of previous mufasir interpretations, (5) describing the meaning of the word verse with semiotics and balāgah, and (6) efforts find zoosembiology (reciprocity) between the Qur'anic literature and zoology and conclude the relevance between animal literature and human life. Second, based on the new myth, the ḥumur ‘donkeys’ in Surah al-Muddaṡṡir verses 50-51 describes the fanaticism of the tribes and the degree of opposition of the Quraysh to the da'wah of the Prophet Muhammad, not the symbol of ignorance that exists in the old myth.

Abstract

Women's leadership is a topic that is receiving increasing attention in various fields, including politics, business, education and social affairs. As time goes by, women have demonstrated their capacity and competence to lead, inspire and bring about positive change. While still facing various challenges, such as gender stereotypes and inequality of opportunity, many women have proved that they are capable of being effective and visionary leaders. This article discusses women's leadership in Surah An-Naml verses 23-44, which contains the story between Prophet Sulaiman and Queen Saba’. This story allegedly provides an ideal picture of women's leadership. This research uses a library approach. Data and data sources are obtained from the Al-Qur'an surah An-Naml verses 23-44. Data collection techniques are obtained through note-taking. The analysis technique uses an interpretive descriptive approach with the hermeneutical theory ma'a cum maghza. The research results show that the figure of a female leader as stated in the story of Prophet Sulaiman and Queen Saba’ in Surah An-Naml Verses 23-44 produces the qualifications of a female leader who has social and material power, thinks open minded towards opponents or opposition, is democratic and a leader who admits mistakes and accepts the truth.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Purpose − This paper seeks to articulate the foundations and strategies for gender mainstreaming within Islamic education. This topic is urgent, as gender inequality in education continues to be a significant issue today. Furthermore, Islam is frequently viewed as contradictory to the principle of gender equality due to its textual interpretations of the Quran and hadith, which serve as primary sources for Muslims. Method − The researchers conducted a qualitative literature review of various texts related to Islamic education, aiming to gather insights from Muslim philosophers regarding the foundations of gender mainstreaming in education. Data collection involved techniques such as active listening and note-taking. The analysis of the data was carried out in three phases: reduction, presentation, and inductive conclusion Findings − Based on the analysis conducted, it is clear that Islam actively supports gender mainstreaming efforts in education to foster social justice and equality. Islam does not differentiate between men and women in terms of their opportunities to acquire knowledge and become exemplary individuals, or khalifatullah fi al-ardh (stewards of the earth). Muslim philosophers endorse gender equality in education both implicitly and explicitly, with no philosophers advocating for discrimination against either gender in the pursuit of quality education. To effectively implement gender mainstreaming in Islamic education, the following strategies should be adopted: (1) Emphasize the importance of allowing students the freedom to choose their fields of study. (2) Foster collaboration between the state and society—through influential organizations or figures—to advance gender mainstreaming in education. (3) Establish a school environment that is rooted in principles of gender equality. (4) Develop educational practices and school management that are sensitive and responsive to gender considerations. (5) Encourage the government, particularly the Ministry of Religious Affairs, to create model or pilot schools that exemplify gender equality and can serve as examples for replication. (6) Provide intensive training and seminars focused on gender issues for educators within both the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Religious Affairs.
