Abstract

This research aims to determine the students' perceptions of using ChatGPT in English learning at SMA Negeri 5 Pematangsiantar. This research used a qualitative descriptive method. The population of this study consisted of class XI students, with a total of 36 participants selected through purposive sampling. The data were collected using a questionnaire and interview. The results of this study show that out of a total of 720 responses, 170 (22.28%) selected "strongly agree," 470 (61.60%) selected "agree," 99 (12.97%) selected "disagree," and only 24 (3.14%) selected "strongly disagree." This indicates that approximately 83.88% of the overall student responses toward using ChatGPT in English learning were positive. These findings strengthen the conclusion that ChatGPT serves as an effective learning aid for improving students' English skills at SMA

Abstract

Current technological developments in the world of education are very significant because the world of education must be able to adapt to technological changes in order to improve the quality of education. Global demands also require the world of education to always adapt to technological developments to improve the quality of education (Reka et al, 2022). The quality of education really depends on the quality of the teacher and his learning methods. Learning media can be interpreted as a tool in the teaching and learning process. Apart from that, learning media also includes everything that is used to stimulate thoughts, feelings, attention, and abilities or skills, so that it can encourage the learning process. One digital learning media that can improve the quality of learning is the use of Canva Magic Al. Canva Magic Al is a graphic design platform that allows users to create graphics, presentations, posters, logos, documents and other social media visual content. This platform is available on web and mobile, and integrates millions of images, fonts, templates, and illustrations. In this community service activity, the Canva Magic Al application was chosen as a tool that will be used by teachers to create attractive presentation designs for teaching materials. Canva Magic Al is an application that is popular in the world of technology to make teaching materials that are more creative and can also be used as teaching media.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the speech functions used by President Prabowo Subianto and Najwa Shihab, particularly how the president conveys information and influences public perception. This study uses qualitative descriptive research, namely documentation analysis. Data were taken from the transcript of an interview between President Prabowo Subianto and Najwa Shihab during the "President Answers" program on Najwa Shihab's YouTube account on April 6, 2025. The analysis focused on speech functions based on Haliday's (2014) theory: statement, command, question, and offer. The results showed that the most frequently occurring speech function was the statement, with 294 utterances (74.73%). The second most frequently occurring speech function was the question, with 52 utterances (18%). Next came the command speech function with 23 utterances (6.2%). Finally, the least frequently occurring speech function was the offer, with 2 utterances (0.5%). This research concludes that President Prabowo's use of speech function in the interview was strategic, namely, in addition to reporting information or facts, it also formed a narrative of President Prabowo's leadership image.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penggunaan media pembelajaran Wordwall terhadap minat belajar IPAS siswa kelas V SDN 094155 Rambung Merah. Minat belajar merupakan faktor penting dalam menunjang keberhasilan proses pembelajaran, karena siswa yang memiliki minat tinggi cenderung lebih aktif, fokus, dan antusias dalam mengikuti pembelajaran. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode pra-eksperimen (pre-experimental design) melalui rancangan one group pretest–posttest. Subjek penelitian terdiri atas 34 siswa kelas V. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan menggunakan angket minat belajar yang diberikan sebelum dan sesudah penerapan media pembelajaran Wordwall. Indikator minat belajar yang diukur meliputi perasaan senang, keterlibatan siswa, perhatian siswa, dan ketertarikan siswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya peningkatan minat belajar siswa setelah penggunaan media Wordwall. Pada pretest, seluruh indikator minat belajar berada pada kategori sedang, sedangkan pada posttest seluruh indikator meningkat ke kategori tinggi. Dengan demikian, dapat disimpulkan bahwa media pembelajaran Wordwall berpengaruh positif terhadap peningkatan minat belajar IPAS siswa kelas V SDN 094155 Rambung Merah.

Abstract

Serangan hama tikus dan burung masih menjadi penyebab utama penurunan produktivitas padi di lahan persawahan, sementara metode pengendalian yang digunakan petani umumnya bersifat konvensional dan berpotensi menimbulkan dampak negatif terhadap lingkungan. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk menerapkan TERAS (Teknologi Ultrasonik Tenaga Surya) sebagai solusi pengendalian hama yang ramah lingkungan, mandiri energi, dan mudah dioperasikan oleh petani. Keunikan teknologi TERAS terletak pada integrasi gelombang ultrasonik dengan sumber energi tenaga surya serta penerapan pendekatan partisipatif yang melibatkan petani sejak tahap perencanaan hingga implementasi. Metode pelaksanaan meliputi survei lapangan, perancangan dan pemasangan alat TERAS di lahan persawahan mitra, sosialisasi dan pelatihan penggunaan alat, serta pendampingan awal implementasi. Teknik analisis dilakukan secara deskriptif kualitatif melalui observasi lapangan dan wawancara untuk menilai kinerja alat, tingkat penerimaan petani, serta perubahan sikap petani terhadap penggunaan teknologi ramah lingkungan. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan bahwa teknologi TERAS dapat berfungsi dengan baik dan stabil, mudah dioperasikan, serta memperoleh respons positif dari petani mitra. Indikator non-teknis menunjukkan adanya peningkatan pemahaman, penerimaan, dan kesiapan petani dalam mengadopsi teknologi sebagai alternatif pengendalian hama tanpa pestisida kimia. Meskipun demikian, pengukuran kuantitatif terhadap penurunan intensitas serangan hama dan peningkatan hasil panen masih memerlukan pengamatan lanjutan hingga satu siklus tanam dan panen. Kesimpulannya, teknologi TERAS berpotensi menjadi solusi pengendalian hama yang ramah lingkungan dan berkelanjutan, serta layak dikembangkan dan direplikasi sebagai teknologi tepat guna dalam mendukung sistem pertanian modern. Kata Kunci : Teknologi Ultrasonik, Energi Surya, Hama Tikus dan Burung, Pertanian Ramah, Pengabdian Masyarakat.

Abstract

Pembelajaran yang aktif dan inovatif sangat diperlukan untuk meningkatkan hasil pembelajaran siswa, khusus kurikulum merdeka saat ini program pemerintah khususnya kementrian bagian pendidikan berusaha meningkatkan literasi dan numerasi siswa oleh karena itu bentuk pelatihan perlu dilaksanakan bagi guru-guru sekolah dasar. Salah satu Sekolah Dasar (SD) yang ada di Kabupaten Simalungun khususnya kecamatan Jorlang Hataran adalah SD Negeri 096465 yang berlokasi di Bah Bunian. Pengabdian ini akan dilakukan di sekolah ini karena sekolah ini bersedia menjadi mitra dalam melakukan pengabdian. Metode pelatihan mencakup pemaparan materi, diskusi interaktif, studi kasus, serta praktik langsung melalui microteaching. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan adanya peningkatan pemahaman peserta terhadap konsep pembelajaran aktif dan inovatif, serta kemampuan mengintegrasikan aspek literasi dan numerasi dalam Rencana Pelaksanaan Pembelajaran (RPP). Pelatihan ini diharapkan menjadi langkah awal yang berdampak pada peningkatan kualitas pembelajaran dan hasil belajar siswa secara berkelanjutan di era Kurikulum Merdeka

Abstract

Pengabdian dilaksanakan atas latar belakang masih rendahnya kemampuan guru-guru di SMA N 1 Sidamanik dalam menggunakan Media Pembelajarn berbasis ICT. Persoalan yang dihadapi ialah dikarenakan segala sesuatu yang serba digital-computerized termasuk kegiatan pembelajaran yang dilaksanakan di sekolah. Hal ini berimplikasi kepada guru yang perlu menguasai media pembelajaran berbasis ICT untuk memudahkan kegiatan pembelajaran tersebut dilaksanakan dalam meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa. Solusi yang dilakukan dalam mencapai target ialah berupa pelatihan yang diberikan kepada guru-guru bertema penggunan media pembelajaran berbasis ICT. Hasil dari pelatihan tersebut dapat dilihat dari kegiatan yang dilaksanakan oleh guru-guru dalam menggunakan bantuan yaitu media Power Point (PPT) dan Ms. Word dalam proses pembelajaran di kelas. Hasilnya dapat dilihat berdasarkan cara guru-guru dalam menggunakan media pembelajaran tersebut dengan menerapkan langkah-langkah yang diberikan pada kegiatan workshop memiliki peningkatan dalam penggunaan media PPT dan Ms.Word tersebut sehingga proses pembelajaran menjadi lebih efektif dan bermanfaat.

Abstract

The increasing use of social media as a public communication space has led to the widespread emergence of hate speech, particularly in Instagram comment sections related to government issues. This research aims to analyze manifestations of hate speech through illocutionary acts on the Instagram accounts @presidenrepublikindonesia and @kemensetneg_ri, classify their forms based on the National Police Chief’s Circular Letter No. SE/06/X/2015, and identify the most dominant types found in the data. This research employs a qualitative descriptive approach supported by quantitative analysis. The data consists of 200 Instagram comments collected from posts related to public policy and government activities. Analysis was conducted using a pragmatic approach based on illocutionary acts, specifically expressive, directive, and assertive acts as proposed by John Searle, and further classified into categories of hate speech such as insults, defamation, and provocation. The results of the research indicate that expressive speech acts are the most dominant, suggesting that users primarily express negative emotions such as anger, disappointment, and sarcasm. In terms of hate speech classification, insults emerged as the most frequent category, followed by defamation and provocation. Although most of the statements do not fully meet the legal criteria under the ITE Law, they still have the potential to cause negative effects in digital communication. These findings indicate that the line between criticism and hate speech remains unclear among social media users and highlight the importance of understanding language use in a digital context.

Abstract

This study focuses on the technique of throwing snowballs in teaching reading comprehension at grade tenth students of SMA Swasta Kampus Nommensen Pematangsiantar in narrative text. therewere problems which related on this research The problem of the students Students had low in reading comprehension,The students not familiar with the vocabulary in the text, and Students did not understand how to find out the main idea in the reading narrative text. whether this technique can improve the reading comprehension ability of he grade tenth at SMA Swasta kampus Nommensen Pematangsiantar campus. The snowball throwing technique can be used as a teaching tool for students to learn in teaching reading comprehension. Research Problem Formulation is, is There a More Significant Effect of Snowball Throwing Technique on Reading Comprehension at grade tenth Students of SMA Swasta Kampus Nommensen Pematangsiantar in Narrative Text? This study uses an experimental design, meaning that there are certain experiments that are applied to the population or sample. And the population of this study is four classes, namely students in the second year of 2022/2023 of SMA Swasta Kampus Nommensen Pematangsiantar. and the sample for the The researcher used a proposive sampling. There were 25 students in each classroom. The control group using (textbook) while the experimental group was taught using snowball throwing technique. In this reseaarch, Data analysis revealed that the post-test mean score for the experimental group was 80, whereas the control group's score was 59,68. The effect of applying snowball throwing technique more significants than the effect of texbook to the ability of grade tenth students of SMA Swasta Kampus Nommensen Pematangsiantar in narrative tex. This can be proven from the t-count of 2.21 and the t-table value is 2.011 at alphe 0.05 and df= 48 ( Nx + Ny -2 = 25+25-2 = 48 ). The t-test value is higher than the t-table value (t-test > t-table). Therefore, the alternative hypothesis (Ha) accepted and the null hypothesis (Ho) rejected.
