Abstract

This study aims to determine the productivity of fisherman who use bottom gill nets and drift gill nets during the Covid-19 period. This research was conducted in Napabalano Village, Napabalano District, Muna Regency from April to May 2022. The sampling method used was the census method with the number of respondents being 8 bottom gill net fisherman and 8 drift gill net fisherman. Data was collected trough interviews, observation and documentation. Analysis of the data used is the productivity Analysis. The results of the study showed that the productivity obtained by bottom gill net fisherman averaged 2.42, meanwhile, the productivity obtained by drift gill net fisherman is 3.01 on average. Thus, the two fishing gears are declared productive because the average productivity value is >1.

Abstract

Mangroves are one of the coastal ecosystems with various ecosystem services include economic benefits. The purpose of this study is to determine the economic value of mangrove ecosystems that are directly utilized by the people of Moko Village, Lakudo District, Central Buton Regency, Southeast Sulawesi. This research was conducted during the period from August to September 2021. The sampling method used was the accidental sampling method, which is a non-probability sampling technique by determining the sample based on who was encountered at the time of data collection. The research sample was the people of Moko Village who live around the mangroves and directly use of the products from the mangrove forest. The types of data used were primary data and secondary data that are qualitative and quantitative. Primary data were obtained directly from the field through interviews with related parties, questionnaires, and direct observation. Secondary data were obtained from the Tourism Office of Central Buton Regency and through literature studies that related to research aims The results of this study showed that the benefits of the mangrove ecosystem in Moko Village consisted of fishing, crab, and shrimp fishing around and in the mangrove forest. The annual total benefit value of mangroves was IDR.507,704,732,- which consisted of fish benefits of IDR 149,064,333,- crab benefits of IDR .230,170,566,- and shrimp benefits of IDR.128,469,833,-.

Abstract

Smoked fish processing is one of the livelihoods of the people in Biak Numfor Regency, but its marketing efficiency is not yet known. This study aims to determine the process of processing smoked fish, margins, marketing efficiency and income obtained by smoked fish business processors in Wasori Village, East Biak District, Biak Numfor Regency, Papua. This study was carried out in January-February 2022. The determination of respondents for smoked fish processors was carried out using the census method with 9 respondents and the determination of retailers was carried out using purposive sampling with the 3 retailers. Data were obtained through interviews using structured questionnaires. The data analysis used was a quantitative descriptive analysis using data on marketing margins, marketing efficiency and revenue. The results showed that there were three types of fish that were processed into smoked fish, namely skipjack tuna (Katsuwonus Pelamis), chicken fish (Abalistes Stellaris) and snapper (Lutjanidae). There were two channels for marketing smoked fish, namely channel I of processing smoked fish was sold directly to consumers and channel II processing of smoked fish was sold to retailers and then to consumers. The average marketing margin in channel II for skipjack tuna was IDR 10,000, chicken fish was IDR 10,000 and snapper was IDR 5,000. The most efficient marketing channels were in channel I for skipjack tuna, which was 25.71%, chicken fish was 22.5% and the snapper was 18.94%. Meanwhile, channel II was less efficient because it obtained a value of 34.67% for skipjack tuna, chicken fish was 36.59% and snapper was 26%. The smoked fish business earned an average total income of IDR 22,366,153 / month with the highest average total income of IDR 28,563,500 / month and the lowest average total income of IDR 17,134,750 / month. This research showed that the smoked fish business in Wasori Village is efficient and very profitable.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the marketing strategy for the Cahaya Faiz anchovy cracker business in Floating Village, Mawasangka District, Central Buton Regency in August 2022. Data was obtained through observation, interviews and documentation. The data analysis used was SWOT analysis, by using a Likert scale. The results of the analysis show that the S-O Strategy utilizes location inputs to produce anchovy cracker ingredients, provides satisfaction with the quality of the anchovy crackers purchased, a fairly good partnership relationship between business actors and fishermen. The W-O strategy maximizes product promotion so that it is better known by the wider community both directly and online and improves marketing and workforce management strategies. The S-T strategy gives the public confidence in processed anchovy cracker products, improves the quality of anchovy cracker products and increases the number of processed anchovy cracker products. The W-T strategy maximizes the availability of raw materials during the anchovy low season.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the total costs, revenues, and profits of mangrove clams (Polymesoda erosa) fisheries in mangrove ecosystems. This research was carried out in April 2022 in Korumba Village, Mandonga District, Kendari City. The sampling method used was the census method with the number of respondents being 8 mangrove clam fishermen. Data collection was carried out through interviews, observation and documentation. The data analysis used was cost, revenue and profit analysis. The study showed that the husband caught shellfish whereas the fisherman's wife was responsible for selling the clams. A small portion of the catch was taken for personal consumption and most was for sale. The average number of clams caught per month was 276 kg. The results of the analysis showed that the average total cost per month was IDR 488,150. The average amount of income per month was IDR 1,381,875. The average profit per month was IDR 876,100. This study indicated that mangrove clams fisheries in the mangrove ecosystem of Korumba Village, Mandonga District, Kendari City are profitable.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to find out the total cost, production of milk fish, total revenue, the profit, RC Ratio BEP Price, BEP Revenue and BEP production of milkfish culture business. This research was conducted on July 2022 at brackish water concrete pond in Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences, Halu Oleo University (as a case study). The results showed that the fixed costs was IDR127,583 and the variable costs was IDR5,005,000, so the total cost was IDR5,132,583/production. The total revenue of this business was IDR 17,500,000 and the production Break Event Point (kg) was 6.00. the total price of Break Event Point was IDR6,415.73 and the total revenue of Break Even Point was IDR447,660. The profit of milkfish culture business in this location was IDR12,367,417 and the RC ratio of this business was 3.41. The milkfish culture business has a significant influence on the some indicators of economically benefit. This study concluded that the milkfish culture business at brackish water of Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Science, Halu Oleo University could profits because the total revenue could cover the production costs of milkfish culture business.

Abstract

The research was conduted with the aim of determing the costs, revenues and profits obtained by small-scale purse seine fishermen (<30 GT) based PPS Kendari, Southeast Sulawesi. This research was conducted from September to November 2019. The study used a purposive sampling method by selecting 10 purse seine fishermen as respondens from a populations of 15 fishermen. Data obtained through interviews based on a questionnaire. The data collected includes age, education level, fishing experience, production and selling price. Average rspondents age in this study was 38 years old with a junior high school education level 6 years of fishing experience. This research showed that the total average monthly cost of purse seine fisheries was IDR74,629,401 and the average revenue was IDR98,800,000. This, the average monthly profit of purse seine fisheries was IDR24,170,599. This study show that of small-scale purse seine fishermen was sufficient and maybe influenced by the age, level of education fishing experience.

Abstract

This research aims to assess the income levels of hook-and-line fishermen and deep-sea longline fishermen in Masolo Village, Wawonii Tenggara District, Konawe Kepulauan Regency, and to compare the income between these two types of fishermen. The research was conducted from November to December 2022, the study sampled 15 fishermen from each group, totaling 30 respondents. Data were collected through interviews, observations, questionnaires, and documentation. Data analysis included total cost, revenue, income analysis, and t-tests. Results showed that tuna hook-and-line fishermen primarily catch tuna and skipjack, while longline fishermen catch red snapper and grouper. The average total costs were IDR 764,121.91 per month for hook-and-line fishermen and IDR760,193.58 per month for longline fishermen. Average revenue per fisherman was IDR 880,000 per month. Net income for hook-and-line fishermen was IDR 11,715,878 per month, while for longline fishermen it was IDR 8,119,806 per month. The t-test analysis using SPSS indicated a significance value of 0.838, which is greater than 0.05, suggesting no significant difference in income between the two groups. Thus, although there is a nominal difference in income, the t-test results show no significant difference.

Abstract

Fish is one of fishery commodity that very susceptible to spoiled, hence needs to be preserved. The easiest and low cost preservation technique is drying method that is commonly practiced by remote coastal communities where is no cold storage facilities provided. This study aims to asses the risk that may occurred at anchovy dried processing plants at Terapung Village of Mawasangka Central Buton Regency South East Sulawesi April 2021. The research samples included nine anchovy dried produsen which data was collected using sensus method as population in this study. In the other hand data of production inputs and marketing price were obtained through structured questionnaires. The average income of anchovy drying plants was IDR. 33,079,470,-/week. Average delivery of 7,920 kg/week with a price of IDR. 120,000,-/kg for super dried anchovies and IDR. 100,000,-/kg for jumbo dried anchovies. The variationcoefficient of anchovy drying plants was 0.11 ≤ 0.5 with a lower limit of income (L) of IDR. 25,964,940,-/week (L≥ 0). The result of study showed that the drying plants of anchovies in the Terapung Village of Mawasangka District Central Buton Regency will obtain benefit at every one production period. Therefore, sustainable harvest of anchovies is a must be ensure income suitability of dried anchovy’s processing plants.

Abstract

Peluang usaha budidaya udang vaname dengan sistem bioflok menjanjikan karena sistem ini mengurangi dampak lingkungan negatif dan biaya operasional. Dengan memanfaatkan teknologi bioflok, para pengusaha udang vaname bisa mengontrol kualitas air dan menjaga kebersihan lingkungan budidaya, sehingga meningkatkan produktivitas udang. Dengan memenuhi standar kualitas dan keamanan pangan yang ketat, nelayan dapat memanfaatkan peluang untuk mengekspor udang vaname ke pasar internasional.  Di samping ekspor, terdapat juga pasar lokal yang besar untuk udang vaname.  Sehingga kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan masyarakat khususnya pelaku usaha mitra kegiatan tentang bagaimana cara untuk budidaya udang vaname dengan system bioflok.  Metode pendekatan dilakukan yaitu, penyuluhan dan sosialisasi. Hasil dari kegiatan pengabdian ini memberikan tambahan informasi dan pengetahuan bagi masyarakat tentang inovasi teknologi dan penggunaan teknologi canggih dalam budidaya udang. Kegiatan pengabdian telah terlaksana dengan lancar, masyarakat sangat antusias mengikuti kegiatan, terbukti dengan partisipasi yang cukup tinggi, hal tersebut terlihat dengan kehadiran peserta secara konsisten dalam mengikuti kegiatan dari awal sampai akhir. Survei dilakukan untuk mengukur efektifitas kegiatan dengan menyebar angket pada saat sebelum dan setelah kegiatan yang memberikan hasil sebesar 100% pengetahuan peserta bertambah, Kegiatan  pengabdian tersebut telah terbukti dapat meningkatkan kapasitas teknis dan pengetahuan dari nelayan dalam melakukan usaha budidaya bioflok skala rumah tangga.
