Abstract

This research is motivated by problems in social studies learning during the pandemic which is now a concern, namely the occurrence of learning loss in students. Learning loss as a decrease in learning competence in students. Learning loss occurs due to several factors including first, prolonged Distance Learning (PJJ), which after the implementation of a distance or online learning system by the government actually makes the teaching and learning process ineffective. The purpose of this study is to identify that blended learning is a mixture of various learning strategies and delivery methods that will optimize the learning experience for its users. The implementation of this strategy allows the use of online learning resources, especially those based on web/blogs, without leaving face-to-face activities. The research method used is quantitative method with this type of research is Quasi Experimental Design (quasi-experimental). Data collection techniques were carried out by observation, interviews and documentation studies. Data analysis techniques used the normality test, homogeneity test, hypothesis testing and normalized gain test to identify improvements in the results of the research conducted. The results of the data analysis show that there is an influence from the application of blended learning to the problem of learning loss in students. Then it shows that students' attitudes towards blended learning-based learning have an effect on problem patterns in the context of learning loss in students.

Abstract

Education is basically a conscious effort to develop the potential of students optimally. In learning social sciences, there are still many who consider it saturated learning and lack of interest by students so that it has an impact on student learning outcomes. One of the efforts to overcome this is the need for innovation and creative learning to package or deliver social studies subject matter so that learning activities become effective. One of them is using the crossword puzzle method. The purpose of this study was to determine the application of the crossword puzzle method in social studies learning to social studies learning outcomes. This type of research uses a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental method with a pre-test and post-test nonequivalent control group design. The population of this study were students of class VIII, SMPN 3, Tarogong Kidul. Samples were taken by the purposive sampling technique with one experimental class and one control class. The instruments used in this study were test question sheets and observation sheets. Based on the results of the statistical analysis conducted, the initial abilities of the two groups resulted in the same abilities. Meanwhile, for the final test results, the Asymp.Sig.2-tailed value is 0.000 and is 0.05, meaning 0.000 <0.05, then Ho is rejected. It can be concluded that there are significant differences or learning using effective methods to be applied. The response of students to the crossword puzzle learning method used in the experimental class resulted in a very good response.

Abstract

The background of this research is that social studies learning in schools is also not optimal in implementing and familiarizing the experience of democratic, social life values by involving students and the school community in various class and school activities. The purpose of this study is to identify the implementation of the role playing learning method which is still an obstacle in creating effective learning. This is what still causes learning to not be able to achieve the expected goals. The description above is an illustration of how important it is to create active and fun student learning. The research method used is quantitative method with a type of correlation, data collection techniques through questionnaires, observation, interviews and documentation studies. Data analysis techniques through the normality test, simple linear regression test. The results of this study show that the constant value is 14.663, systematically this constant value states that when the value of role playing is 0, cooperation skills have a value of 14.663. While the regression coefficient line is 0.748, the positive value results illustrate that the direction of the relationship between the role playing variable and the cooperation skills variable is unidirectional, thus the regression equation can be written Y = 14.663 + 0.748 x. This means that the value of 0.748 is the change in the regression line, where each unit of the value of the X variable will be followed by a change in the Y value of 0.748

Teachers must be able to analyze the various dynamics that occur in the classroom. One of the activities carried out by the teacher is to carry out the process of growing self-efficacy in students, especially for students who experience learning difficulties. The research approach uses quantitative research methods, such as the quasi-experimental design, and the research design uses a nonequivalent control group design. Then the purposeful or judgmental sampling technique. Research data collection techniques using tests identified through pretests and posttests and non-tests through observation, interviews, and documentation studies Data validation analysis techniques use validity tests, normality tests, homogeneity tests, hypothesis tests, and normalized gain tests. The results of the study show that based on the results of data analysis and statistical calculations using Microsoft Excel 2019, there is no significant difference in pre-test results between the experimental class and the control class before learning begins. Based on the results of the data analysis after the teacher played a role in overcoming students' learning difficulties in social studies subjects, there was a significant difference between the experimental class and the control class after learning took place. In this way, social studies teachers play a role in supporting students' self-efficacy.

Abstract

Issues surrounding students’ learning independence often stem from the prevalent use of conventional teaching methods by educators. This research seeks to explore the effectiveness of the Self-Directed Learning (SDL) model in fostering greater independence among students in PPKN (Civics) learning. The study employs a classroom action research approach, utilizing Kurt Lewin’s revised cycle model, which includes four phases: (1) planning, (2) implementation, (3) observation, and (4) reflection. The research sample was selected through purposive sampling, focusing on class VIII-A as the subject of the study. Data collection was conducted using tests, observations, and documentation. The data analysis involved descriptive percentage techniques specific to PPKN learning outcomes. Findings from the hypothesis testing revealed that the SDL model significantly contributed to enhancing students' independence in learning PPKN. This is evidenced by continuous improvement across each cycle, culminating in a final average percentage of 74.98% by the third cycle—meeting the expected criteria. Thus, it can be concluded that the Self-Directed Learning (SDL) model effectively promotes learning independence in PPKN subjects.

Abstract

The problem of students' democratic culture is often caused by the learning process that is still dominated by the teacher. This study aims to assess the extent to which the Problem Based Learning (PBL) method in Civics learning is effective in building students' democratic culture. The approach used in this research is classroom action research (PTK) using the Kemmis & Taggart model consisting of two cycles with two meetings, where each cycle goes through four stages, namely (1) planning, (2) implementation, (3) observation, and (4) reflection. The research sample was determined through purposive sampling technique, with class IX-A as the research object. Data were collected through interviews, observations and documentation. Data analysis was carried out using descriptive percentage techniques in accordance with Civics learning outcomes. The results of hypothesis testing show that the application of PBL method in Civics learning has a positive influence on the development of students' democratic culture. This increase can be seen from the increase in each cycle, in terms of student participation experiencing an average increase of around 20%, an increase in student confidence in expressing opinions increased by 37.5%, and also mutual respect with an average increase of around 22.5%, meaning that this can be said to have met the specified target. Based on these results, it can be concluded that the Problem Based Learning (PBL) method in Civics learning has proven effective in building a culture of democracy in students.

Abstract

The background to the problem in this research is the importance of multicultural education in shaping students' understanding and attitudes towards cultural diversity in the era of globalization. However, the challenge of teaching this concept effectively and interestingly remains an obstacle in many schools. This research aims to examine the effect of using Canva-based poster media on understanding multicultural concepts in class VIII students at SMP Negeri 1 Garut. The research design used is a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental method with a nonequivalent control group pre-test and post-test design to measure students' understanding before and after using the media. The sample consisted of two groups: an experimental group using Canva-based posters and a control group using Power Point media. Based on the results of the statistical analysis carried out, the initial abilities of the two groups resulted in the same abilities. Meanwhile, the final test results obtained a Sig.2-tailed value of 0.049 and an α of 0.05, meaning 0.049 < 0.05, so the HO was rejected. This shows a significant increase in understanding of multicultural concepts in the experimental class compared to the control class.
