Abstract

Background: Islamic Religious Education (IRE) at the Primary School Level in multicultural societies such as Indonesia must evolve to remain relevant and impactful. One way to achieve this is by contextualizing IRE at the Primary School Level by integrating local cultural values. This study explores how the philosophical values of the Banjar ethnic group—such as baiman (faith), batakwa (piety), and basusila (morality)—can be effectively integrated into the IRE at the Primary School Level curriculum to enhance students' moral and character development. Aim: The objective is to identify and analyze strategies for embedding these local values into religious education while evaluating their influence on learners' moral behavior. Method: A qualitative descriptive approach was employed, utilizing thematic analysis and library research as the primary methods. Data were collected through document analysis, literature review, and secondary reports involving educational institutions in South Kalimantan. Result and Discussions: The findings show that integrating Banjar cultural values—such as cooperation (gotong-royong) and mutual respect—into IRE at the Primary School Level not only enhances the contextual relevance of the curriculum but also reinforces students' religious identity and social awareness. Results indicate that 75% of students better understood Islamic values when taught through culturally familiar practices. In comparison, 80% of respondents acknowledged a positive transformation in their character and discipline through contextual religious instruction. Discussion revealed that such integration supports a holistic educational approach, linking cultural identity with moral development. It also addresses gaps in conventional curricula by offering inclusive, place-based learning models. In conclusion, this study affirms the significant role of local wisdom in shaping ethical and religious values in education. It recommends systematic curriculum development, teacher training, and community collaboration to sustain culturally responsive IRE at the Primary School Level. Integrating Banjar values into religious instruction fosters academic understanding, stronger moral integrity, and cultural rootedness among students.

Abstract

Religious education, especially the learning of the Qur'an, is one of the most important elements. The Qur'an as a guide to life and a source of knowledge, as the first means or tool of learning that needs to be understood and read. So, it is necessary to learn smoothly. Teaching the Qur'an to children with special needs, especially the disabled, is certainly adjusted and cannot be equated with teaching the Qur'an to other normal children because they have limitations in reading the Qur'an. This study aims to describe how the process or form of learning Iqra' is applied practically to students, to form students to be more accustomed to memorizing, mentioning and knowing the recitations of the Qur'an, as well as identifying various obstacles faced during the process and solutions used by educators to overcome them. This study applies a qualitative approach with the type of case study, where data is obtained through observation, interview, and documentation techniques. The results of the study show that, (1) the learning process or application of Iqra' includes setting goals, such as ensuring that students can read the Qur'an correctly pronounced, memorize hijaiyah letters, and memorize daily prayers. Determine the content of the learning material, which in this case includes learning using the Iqra' book which is compiled into several volumes. The teacher determines the strategies and methods used in Iqra' learning as well as the assessment of reading ability by evaluation. (2) Knowing the obstacles and their solutions, including internal and external factors.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the integration of Islamic values in mathematics education through a bibliometric approach, with a focus on trends in educational management. The background of this research lies in the growing attention to value education within the context of holistic education, alongside the lack of systematic mapping regarding the relationship among the concepts of "Islamic", "Mathematics", and "Education." Utilizing VOSviewer software, bibliographic data from scientific publications over the past ten years were analyzed to identify keyword networks, thematic trends, and the intensity of author contributions. The visualization results indicate that mathematics education serves as a central node, closely connected to Islamic values, student-centered learning, and blended learning, signaling a strong integration of spiritual values with modern learning approaches. Moreover, the linkages with STEM and science education demonstrate that Islamic value-based education is highly compatible with the direction of globalized education. The heatmap visualization also reveals authors' contributions to key themes, showing a balanced tendency between specialization and generalization. This study concludes that the development of holistic mathematics education management must integrate cognitive, affective, and spiritual aspects cohesively, while promoting contextual, adaptive, and value-based policies and curricula.

Abstract

Islamic theology based performance management has emerged as a strategic approach to improving the quality of Islamic education in the contemporary era, particularly as institutions such as pesantren are required not only to transmit knowledge but also to cultivate character through exemplification and daily practices. The challenges of globalization, the need to strengthen work ethics, and the demand for enhancing the quality of Islamic educational institutions make the integration of kalam-derived theological values a relevant foundation for performance management. This article employs a descriptive qualitative method with a library research approach, analyzing literature related to performance management, Islamic theological values, and their implementation within Islamic educational institutions. Data were analyzed through processes of reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing to reveal patterns of theological value integration in educational managerial practices. The findings indicate that performance management incorporating Islamic values such as honesty, responsibility, discipline, and collaboration effectively enhances the work ethic of teachers and students, strengthens organizational culture, and supports holistic character formation. Practical implementations, including maqaṣid al-shari‘ah based evaluation, the development of students’ soft skills, and teacher training grounded in Islamic values, positively influence the effectiveness of Islamic educational institutions. However, challenges such as insufficient training, limited facilities, and resistance to change must be addressed systematically. The implications of this study underscore the importance of reinforcing Islamic performance management policies, enhancing educator capacity, and fostering collaboration among schools, parents, and communities to develop Islamic educational institutions that are excellent, adaptive, and character-driven.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation model of Islamic character-based student management in Madrasah Ibtidaiyah, describe student behavior management strategies, and examine its impact on student achievement. The research employs a qualitative approach with an instrumental case study design. Research subjects include madrasah principals, teachers, students, and parents selected through purposive sampling technique. Data collection was conducted through in-depth interviews, participant observation, documentation, and focus group discussions. Data analysis utilized the Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña model with stages of data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing. Data validity was ensured through source, method, and time triangulation, as well as member checking. The findings reveal that student management implementation follows a cyclical model integrating Islamic values in planning, organizing, implementing, and evaluating. Behavior management strategies include habituation, role modeling, advising, positive reinforcement, logical consequences, and parent collaboration, with role modeling being the most effective strategy. Supporting factors include leadership commitment, teacher competence, and parental support, while inhibiting factors encompass time constraints, diverse family backgrounds, and social media influence. Positive impacts are evident in spiritual-moral achievement (85% of students regularly perform worship, 60% reduction in violations), academic achievement (12-15 point increase in grades, 100% graduation rate), and non-academic achievement. This study concludes that Islamic character-based student management effectively shapes students' personalities holistically while enhancing multidimensional achievement

Abstract

Abstract. This study aims to analyze the management strategies of Madrasah Ibtidaiyah principals in improving the quality of Islamic values-based learning. The research focuses on planning and organizing learning strategies, leadership implementation in execution and supervision, and identification of supporting and inhibiting factors. This research employs a qualitative approach with a case study method conducted at 2-3 high-performing Madrasah Ibtidaiyah. Data collection was carried out through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, documentation, and focus group discussions with research subjects including madrasah principals, teachers, madrasah committees, and supervisors. Data analysis uses the Miles, Huberman, and Saldana model with stages of data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that madrasah principals implement integrative planning strategies based on the principle of consultation (shura) and organization based on trustworthiness (amanah). Instructional leadership is demonstrated through exemplary modeling (uswatun hasanah) and clinical supervision based on tarbiyah that focuses on continuous professional development. The main supporting factors are principal commitment, teacher dedication, and stakeholder participation, while inhibiting factors include budget constraints, gaps in teacher qualifications, and resistance to change. This study concludes that the integration of modern management functions with Islamic leadership values effectively improves holistic learning quality, encompassing both academic aspects and Islamic character formation. The practical implications of this research provide strategic guidance for madrasah principals and policy recommendations for the Ministry of Religious Affairs in madrasah leadership development.
