Abstract

The stunting rate is increasing every year in Indonesia. The impact caused by stunting in the medium term is in the form of low intelligence and cognitive abilities, and risk. The long term is the quality of human resources and the problem of degenerative diseases in adulthood. Prevention of stunting can be done one of them by implementing specific nutrition programs with food security indicators through the development of local food based on nutrition gardens. This research method uses descriptive qualitative method. The activity begins by looking at the knowledge of Family Welfare Development (PKK) and Integrated Sevices Post (Posyandu) cadres related to the basic skills of Health Integrated Sevices Post cadres. Statistical test results showed a significant difference of 0.000 between the mean before and after the material exposure of 25 basic skills of Posyandu cadres in PKK and Posyandu cadres in Widodaren Village. This activity involved PKK women and Posyandu cadres with the implementation of a nutrition garden using aquaponic technology, a technology that combines fish and vegetable cultivation in one cultivation period. The next activity is processing the results of the nutrition garden in the form of vegetables and catfish into nutrient-dense foods such as processed nuggets and dim sum. Local food-based nutritional gardens can be an effort to prevent stunting.

Abstract

Abstract

A halal lifestyle using halal-certified products is a vital necessity for Muslims. It allows Indonesia to become the world's largest producer and servicer of halal products. However, many uncertified halal products are circulating in the community, and the number of certified halal items tends to be small. Several factors influence the low quality of halal certification products. This Research aimed to identify factors influencing halal certification: education, knowledge, attitudes, behavior, and awareness. The Type of research was crossectional research. The research was conducted in the Ngawi district by comparing entrepreneurs with halal certification and entrepreneurs who still need to have halal certification, with the number of each sample of 26 entrepreneurs. The technique of sampling was purposive sampling.  These research variables are factors associated with halal certification, including the level of education, knowledge, attitudes, behavior, and awareness of the entrepreneur acquired through interviews using validated questionnaires and the reliability of the questionnaire. The education, knowledge, and attitude data were analyzed using a chi-square test. The behavior and halal awareness were analyzed using the Fisher test. The statistical test results showed a p-value of < 0.001 on the variables of knowledge, education, attitude, and behavior, so it can be said that knowledge, education, behavior, and attitude positively affect halal certification. However, based on the statistical test on the halal awareness variable, the relationship test results of p-value > 0.05, so it can be said that halal awareness does not positively affect halal certification. This research concludes that education, knowledge, attitudes, and behavior influence legal certification. Awareness of halal behavior does not affect halal certification.   Keywords: Attitude, Behavior, Education, Halal awareness, Halal certification knowledge

Abstract

Anemia was prevalent among menstruating adolescent girls, affecting about 32% in Indonesia, and often reduced quality of life. Date palm juice contained carbohydrates, tryptophan, omega-3, vitamin C, vitamin B6, zinc, and magnesium, which could support hemoglobin improvement. This study aims to evaluate the potential of Ajwa date juice as an alternative therapy for women with menstrual anemia. An experimental design included five groups: Ajwa date palm juice (50% concentration) administered once daily (JKA1), twice daily (JKA2), or three times daily (JKA3); a positive control with a commercial anti-anemia product; and a negative control with mineral water. Treatments were given for five days to 25 respondents. Quality of life was assessed using a modified EQ-5D questionnaire, validated with the Pearson correlation test and tested for reliability with Cronbach’s alpha. Data were analyzed using one-way ANOVA at a 95% significance level. Results showed the greatest hemoglobin increase in the JKA3 group (mean 2.2 g/dL) and the smallest in JKA1 (1.4 g/dL), with no significant differences between groups (p > 0.05). Quality-of-life improvement was achieved fastest in JKA3 (2.4 days), followed by JKA2 and JKA1 (2.8 days each), also without significant differences (p > 0.05). In conclusion, Ajwa date palm juice improved hemoglobin levels and quality of life in anemic respondents. The three-times-daily regimen showed the most benefit, although statistical significance was not observed.

Abstract

Improving nutrition literacy among mothers of toddlers, particularly regarding sugar and MSG consumption, is essential to prevent nutritional issues such as stunting and obesity. This study aimed to assess the effectiveness of educational interventions on sugar and MSG consumption among mothers at Posyandu Kakaktua 7, Dusun Ngeledok, Ngawi, East Java, in July 2025. A pre-test and post-test design was used, with knowledge assessment conducted before and after the intervention. The educational session was delivered using a leaflet containing information on the health risks of excessive sugar and MSG consumption and guidance on healthier food choices. Results showed a significant improvement in mothers' knowledge, with an average pre-test score of 6.56 and a post-test score of 8.73. The intervention successfully enhanced mothers’ awareness of the negative effects of high sugar and MSG intake, promoting healthier dietary practices. The study demonstrates the effectiveness of community-based education in improving nutrition literacy and highlights the importance of empowering mothers in ensuring proper nutrition for their children.

Abstract

Background: Hemoglobin (Hb) played an important role in cognitive function and academic achievement. However, the direct association between Hb levels and student learning outcomes, particularly in Islamic boarding school–based campuses, has not been widely studied. Objective: This study aimed to analyze the relationship between hemoglobin levels and Cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) as well as Pesantren Achievement Index (IPKS) among female students in a pesantren-based university. Methods: This was an observational analytic study with a cross-sectional approach involving 84 sixth-semester female students. Hb levels were measured using the EasyTouch GCHb device, while GPA and IPKS data were obtained from academic records. The Fisher Exact Test was used for statistical analysis. Results: Most respondents had normal hemoglobin levels (95.2%), good GPA (98.8%), and good IPKS (89.3%). No statistically significant relationship was found between Hb levels and GPA (p = 0.952) or IPKS (p = 0.055), although a practically relevant trend was observed in the IPKS results. Conclusion: There was no significant association between hemoglobin levels and student learning achievement as measured by GPA and IPKS. Academic and pesantren achievements were likely influenced by other factors beyond hemoglobin status, suggesting that intervention approaches should be multidimensional.
