Abstract

The increase on rice plant growth can be done through the application of organic and inorganic fertilizers, as well as the use of appropriate varieties. This research aimed to examine the effect of a combination of organic and inorganic fertilizer doses and the use of varieties on improving rice plant growth and nutrient level. The research was conducted from June to August 2025 located in Sudimoro Village, Megaluh Subdistrict, Jombang Regency. This research used a factorial randomized block design (RBD) with two factors and three replications. Factor 1 is a combination of biological and inorganic fertilizer doses consisting of 9 levels of treatment, namely: 100% inorganic fertilizer + no biological fertilizer (P1), 75% inorganic fertilizer + no biological fertilizer (P2), 50% inorganic fertilizer + no biological fertilizer (P3), 100% inorganic fertilizer + 5 ml biological fertilizer (P4), 75% inorganic fertilizer + 5 ml biological fertilizer (P5), 50% inorganic fertilizer + 5 ml biological fertilizer (P6), 100% inorganic fertilizer + 10 ml biological fertilizer (P7), 75% inorganic fertilizer + 10 ml biological fertilizer (P8), and 50% inorganic fertilizer + 10 ml biological fertilizer (P9). Factor 2 is the rice plant varieties, namely: Inpari 32 (V1) and Ciherang (V2). The observations conducted included growth observations, namely plant height, number of leaves, number of tillers and dry weight of plants observed at 15, 30, 45, and 60 days after planting and NPK level of plants observed at 60 days after planting. The results showed that the combination of 100% inorganic fertilization + 10 ml of organic fertilizer generally increased plant height, number of leaves and dry weight of rice plants. The use of the Ciherang variety resulted in better plant height, number of leaves and dry weight of rice plants compared to the Inpari 32 variety. The use of a combination of inorganic and organic fertilizer had a significant effect on increasing the number of tillers of rice plants of the Inpari 32 variety compared to the Ciherang variety. The nitrogen content of rice plants (1.17 to 1.99%) is included in the deficiency category, while the phosphorus content (0.14 to 0.31%) and potassium (1.45 to 2.22%) are included in the excess category, where the addition of biofertilizer has an effect on increasing the nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium content of rice plants compared to without biofertilizer.

Abstract

This community service activity aims to empower farmers through the application of biomass-based land potential sensor technology transformation in Sudimoro Village, Megaluh District, Jombang Regency. The main challenges faced by the farmers include limited knowledge regarding land potential, persistent doubts about adopting technological innovations, and low practical skills in technology-based management. The urgency of this program lies in the need to enhance the capacity of farmers to optimally manage agricultural land sustainably with the support of modern technology. The implementation method included outreach, training, field demonstrations, and intensive mentoring for ten farmer participants. Evaluation results demonstrated significant improvements: knowledge increased from 42.5% to 82%, attitudes from 55% to 86.5%, and skills from 20% to 77%. Paired sample t-test analysis confirmed that these differences were statistically significant (p < 0.001) across all three aspects. These findings prove that the sensor technology-based intervention is capable of holistically increasing farmer capacity. Thus, the program has delivered a tangible impact on the empowerment of the farming community while serving as a model for sustainable agricultural innovation that can be replicated in other rural areas.

Abstract

This community service program was implemented at Public Elementary School Gedangan 3 in the rural district of Sumobito, Jombang, where school gardens support greening and environmental learning but plant care is constrained by manual, inconsistent watering. The project focused on introducing an automatic plant-watering system based on the Internet of Things using a soil-moisture sensor, a microcontroller, a relay, tubing, and a small water pump. The objectives were to motivate students’ interest in technology that benefits daily life, increase their knowledge of automatic watering principles and components, and provide direct practice operating a simple device. The approach combined participatory planning with teachers, structured instruction through presentation slides, a live demonstration of the device, guided student practice, and interactive discussion. Activities were conducted on 21 August 2025 with eighteen students from grades five and six, with classroom teachers acting as facilitators. Results showed improved student understanding of component functions and system operation, greater confidence and curiosity toward technology, and more consistent watering practices that support plant growth while using water efficiently. Students reported finding the learning enjoyable and accessible, and teachers indicated readiness to sustain the device for routine garden care. The program offers a practical, replicable model for integrating elementary-level technology literacy with environmental stewardship in school settings

Abstract

The objective of this study is to develop and evaluate strategies for the utilisation of nano technology-based ablution water waste in integrated farming systems comprising catfish, tilapia, gourami, iridescent shark, and water spinach. Utilising an interdisciplinary approach, this study not only examines the effectiveness of water treatment technology, but also seeks to empower pesantren human resources to achieve technical and economic independence. The novelty of this research lies in the integration of nanotechnology-based water treatment technology, the utilisation of the results for productive cultivation, and the empowerment of human resources in the Islamic boarding school community. This research was conducted at the As-Salafiyyah Asy-Syafi'iyyah Tambakberas Barat Islamic Boarding School, Jombang, East Java, from August to October 2025. The findings of the study demonstrate that the integration of electrocoagulation, zeolite-based nanofiltration, and ozonation technologies is efficacious in enhancing the quality of ablution wastewater. This assertion is substantiated by a substantial decline in pollutant parameters, specifically: The BOD decreased from 78 mg/L to 24 mg/L, with an efficiency of 69.2%, the COD decreased from 39 mg/L to 17 mg/L, with an efficiency of 56.4%, and the TSS decreased from 76 mg/L to 25 mg/L, with an efficiency of 67.1%. The utilisation of treated water as a cultivation medium yielded favourable outcomes, manifesting in the accelerated growth of water spinach plants. A notable augmentation in plant length was observed, escalating from 10.2 centimetres at seven days post-planting to 39.8 centimetres at 28 days after planting. Concurrently, the number of leaves increased from 9 at 7 days after planting to 38 leaves at 28 days after planting. Furthermore, the fresh weight of the plants exhibited a substantial increase, rising from 3 grams at seven days after planting to 37 grams at 28 days after planting. Furthermore, treated water has been demonstrated to support the growth of various fish species, including patin, tilapia, gurami, and catfish. The fastest growth was exhibited by tilapia and catfish, reaching 27 g and 18 g at 28 days after planting, respectively, with a final length of 14.83 cm and 13.25 cm, respectively. The present study will examine the level of technology acceptance among Islamic boarding schools. Keywords: Nanotechnology, Ablution Wastewater, Aquaculture, Hydroponics, Islamic Boarding School
