Abstract

The purpose of the research to determine the effect of shallot extract concentration and soaking duration on the growth of stem cuttings of water apple (Syzygium malaccense), observed through shoot number, leaf number, and shoot emergence time over four weeks. A 4 × 3 factorial randomized block design with five replications was applied. The results showed that the combination of shallot extract treatments had a highly significant effect on all variables. The best outcome was obtained from the 80% concentration with 4-hour soaking (K2L2), which produced the highest average number of shoots (11.8), leaves (16.6), and the fastest shoot emergence (0.4–0.6 weeks). In contrast, excessively high concentrations (100%) tended to inhibit growth, likely due to phytotoxic effects. Natural auxins and cytokinins in shallot extract played an important role in stimulating cell division and vegetative growth. These findings indicate that shallot extract can be used as an effective natural alternative to synthetic growth regulators for vegetative plant propagation. Abstract

This study aims to determine the relationship of soil chemical content to soil macrofauna in semi-organic and inorganic apple plantations in Tulungrejo Village, Bumiaji District, Batu City. Observation of soil chemical properties carried out in the BPTP East Java laboratory. The soil was taken systematically on both fields. Observation of soil macrofauna is carried out by direct observation. The study was conducted in March - May 2018. The parameters observed in this study were soil (H ') macrofauna, and soil (pH, C-Organic, and N). The chemical content of soil in the semiorganic apple plantation is (pH = 7.8 C-Organic = 1.54 and N = 0.16), while the chemical content of soil in the land of inorganic apple plantations is (pH = 7 C-Organic = 0 , 5 and N = 0.06). The results of research on soil macrofauna in Semi Organic apple plantations found 9 orders consisting of 10 families and amounting to 247 individuals. The role of soil macrofauna includes 3 families and 45 individuals, 4 family detrivor and 42 individuals, and 3 family predators and 160 individuals. The results of research on soil macrofauna in the field of Inorganic found 8 orders, consisting of 9 families and numbered 162 individuals. The role of the soil macrofauna includes 3 families and 25 individuals, 3 families and 18 individuals, and 3 families and 119 individuals. Diversity index value (H') of soil macrofauna in semi-organic land is higher at 1.81, while in Inorganic land is 1.53.

Abstract

The rice crop yields in Daterejo Village are erratic from year to year, and farmers often suffer losses. The outbreak of brown planthoppers is one of the threats feared by rice farmers in Daterejo Village. The community service carried out aims to provide knowledge on how to detect early and control brown planthoppers in rice cultivation areas. Service activities were carried out in Daterejo Village, Mojoagung District, Jombang Regency, East Java Province. Implementation of community service activities will be carried out in September 2023. The implementation method for this community service activity uses the Participatory Action Research method. Action and participatory methods are implemented in socialization activities among farmer groups and also training in operationalizing the brown planthopper early detection tool. The community service carried out is by implementing appropriate technology for early detection of brown planthopper insect pests. This early detection tool for insect pests actually has several benefits, including knowing the population of brown planthopper pests in rice clumps. In the socialization, tools for detecting insect pests in rice clumps were explained, and the life cycle of brown planthopper pest insects on rice plants. The hope is that farmers will be able to detect it early when rice planting is taking place, so that there will be no crop failure caused by attacks by brown planthopper pests.

Abstract

Training on making photosynthetic bacteria (Synechococcus sp.) as plant fertilizer aims to increase participants' knowledge and skills in utilizing photosynthetic microorganisms to support sustainable agriculture. Synechococcus sp., a type of cyanobacteria, has the ability to carry out photosynthesis and produce important nutrients such as nitrogen, which plays a role in increasing soil fertility. Through a service approach based on Participatory Action Research (PAR), this training involves active participation of participants in all stages of the process. This training covers various topics, starting from an introduction to the characteristics and benefits of Synechococcus sp. to isolation techniques, culture, and practical applications in agriculture. Participants are taught in depth how to process these bacteria and apply them to planting media with the aim of increasing productivity and plant health. In addition, participants were given an understanding of the importance of microorganisms in maintaining the balance of agricultural ecosystems. The training evaluation showed very positive results, with a significant increase in participants' understanding of the role of photosynthetic microorganisms in improving soil and plant quality. Participants' interest in applying this technique on their agricultural land was also very high, showing great potential for widespread application of this method. It is hoped that through this training, more environmentally friendly and sustainable agriculture can be created by utilizing biological resources, such as Synechococcus sp., to maintain soil health and support sustainable food production.

Abstract

Local food development needs to be optimized to realize food self-sufficiency. Mancilan Village has local food sources that have not been utilized properly, namely spinach and rambutan. There needs to be an effort to optimize these food sources through community empowerment activities. This community service activity aims to improve and develop the skills of the PKK Melati Cadre in Mancilan Village in utilizing the local food potential of rambutan and spinach as processed food products. The approach model applied in this community empowerment activity is a participatory approach as well as asset or resource-based community empowerment. The methods used in this activity include workshops, demonstrations, simulations, and FGDs attended by 30 participants. Food processing training activities in the form of spinach noodles and hair nuggets have succeeded in increasing the knowledge and skills of Mancilan Village PKK cadres. The ease of raw materials and the process of making products are supporting factors in product application. On the other hand, based on the hedonic test of spinach noodle and rambutan nugget products, the average shows a positive value in terms of taste, color, aroma, and texture of the product.

Abstract

Technology in agriculture is something that cannot be separated from its application in the agricultural sector. The use of smartphones in soil pH measuring devices makes the measurement process faster, easier and more affordable. This research aims to develop a simple and affordable soil pH measuring tool for use by farmers in Tanggalrejo Village, Mojoagung, Jombang. The method approach taken for community service in Tanggalrejo Village is to use the Participatory Action Research (PAR) method. One of them is by implementing training methods and approaches from local farmers so that indirectly farmers in Tanggalrejo Village can capture the material well. This tool is named "Soil pH Meter" and is designed to help farmers manage the quality of their soil. This research involves the steps of designing, prototyping, field testing, and evaluation. This tool has the potential to increase efficiency in farming and help farmers take appropriate actions to increase crop yields. Based on the results of this community service activity, it can provide an overview of the use of a pH meter for accurate and efficient soil pH monitoring by: (1) Providing understanding and practice in checking soil pH using a telegram monitoring pH meter to farmers in Tanggalrejo Village, so that the Farmers know the condition of bass or acid soil and can determine good and correct handling. (2) Provide understanding and explanation about the use of smartphones, that the soil pH monitoring tool via telegram can be checked via smartphones used by farmers in Tanggalrejo Village.

Abstract

In many remote and rural areas, limited access to the main electricity grid often results in lighting issues that impact safety, education, and productivity. To address this problem, the implementation of solar panel technology as an alternative energy source offers a sustainable and effective solution. This community service program aims to introduce and apply solar-powered automatic street lighting technology in Mojodanu Village. The method used is Participatory Action Research (PAR), involving local youth from the Karang Taruna community in training and implementation of this technology. The training conducted in August 2024 included explanations on the operation and functioning of automatic street lights, as well as hands-on practice in assembling these lights. The training results showed an improvement in participants' understanding, with Post-Test scores higher than Pre-Test scores. The benefits of implementing this technology include energy and operational cost savings, as well as providing efficient lighting in areas without access to electricity. Additionally, the project imparts new knowledge and skills to local youth regarding environmentally friendly technology. The outputs of this activity include an understanding of the assembly of automatic street lights, materials and tools used, and practical skills in assembling simple solar panel-based devices.

Abstract

Penduduk di Indonesia setiap tahunnya semakin bertambah dapat berpengaruh pada kebutuhan bahan pangan dan sayur. Salah satu jenis sayuran yang banyak digemari masyarakat Indonesia adalah caisim dimana dalam tanaman tersebut banyak mengandung gizi sehingga dapat memenuhi kebutuhan akan protein, vitamin dan mineral. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui dampak berbagai dosis pupuk bekas cacing (kascing) terhadap pertumbuhan dan hasil tanaman caisim (Brassica juncea L.). Penelitian ini dilakukan di lahan pekarangan rumah tepatnya di Desa Plosogenuk Kec. Perak Kab. Jombang, Jawa Timur. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah penelitian eksperimen dengan pendekatan data kuantitatif, menggunakan Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK) Non faktorial yang terdiri dari 6 perlakuan dosis kascing yaitu 0 g, 50 g, 100 g, 150 g, 200 g, 250 g dan diulang sebanyak 4 kali. Analisis data menggunakan Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) dengan taraf 5% dan dilanjutkan dengan uji Beda Nyata Jujur (BNJ) jika terdapat beda nyata dengan taraf 5%. Hasil percobaan pengaruh pupuk bekas cacing (kascing) dengan dosis 0 g, 50 g, 100 g, 150 g, 200 g, 250 g terhadap tanaman caisim memberikan hasil berbeda nyata atau berpengaruh nyata pada parameter tinggi tanaman dan panjang akar. Hasil analisis data menunjukkan dosis terbaik pupuk kascing terhadap tanaman caisim adalah 250 g.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui biodiversitas atau keanekaragaman serangga pada tanaman jagung fase generatif. Jenis penelitian ini adalah kuantitatif deskriptif. Penelitian dilakukan di lahan sitematis dan non sitematis. Pengambilan sampel serangga pertanaman jagung pada pagi hari (yellow trap dan blue trap), dan pada pagi, siang, dan sore (observasi). Adapun jumlah serangga yang diperoleh dihitung keanekaragaman (H’), dominasi (C), dan indeks nilai penting (INP). Pada lahan sistematis, nilai H’ serangga adalah 2,89 sedangkan untuk lahan non sitematis sebesar 2,81. Data menunjukan indeks keanekaragaman serangga dalam keadaan sedang. Indeks dominasi (C) pada lahan jagung fase generatif lahan sistematis sebesar 0,089 sedangkan pada lahan non sitematis sebesar 0,081 artinya kedua lahan tersebut menujukan indeks dominasi yang rendah. Pada lahan sistematis, famili Muscidae menunjukan INP sebesar 20,69, untuk lahan non sitematis INP tertinggi ditunjukan famili Coccinelidae dengan nilai 21,53. Lahan jagung fase generatif yang menggunakan perlakukan secara sitematis menunjukan keanekaragaman serangga yang lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan lahan jagung fase generatif yang menggunakan perlakuan secara non sitematis.

Abstract

Tomat adalah komoditas multiguna yang banyak dikonsumsi oleh masyarakat Indonesia karena berguna sebagai sayuran, bumbu masak, buah meja, bahan pewarna makanan dan sebagainya. Dalam upaya peningkatan produksi tanaman tomat, petani masih menggunakan pupuk anorganik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memanfaatkan limbah urine kelinci untuk pembuatan pupuk organic cair (POC). Pupuk organik dapat meningkatkan ketersediaan hara dalam tanah juga dapat meningkatkan efiensi pemupukan. Dengan demikian penggunaan pupuk organik pada produksi tanaman tomat dapat mengurangi penggunaan pupuk anorganik yang dosisnya cenderung meningkat. Penggunaan kombinasi pupuk organik dan anorganik akan memberikan beberapa keuntungan salah satunya dapat mengurangi biaya produksi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pemberian POC urine kelinci terhadap pertumbuhan tanaman tomat pada vase vegetatif yang diantaranya tinggi tanaman, diameter batang dan jumlah daun. Hasil pupuk organik cair yang dibuat nantinya akan diaplikasikan pada tanaman tomat menggunakan konsentrasi 1000 ppm, 2000 ppm, dan 3000 ppm. Pengamatan dilakukan selama 35 hari. Penelitian ini menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) non faktorial dengan empat perlakuan yaitu P0 = Air 100% tanpa POC urine (kontrol), P1 = POC urine 1000 ppm, P2 = POC urine 2000 ppm, P3 = POC urine 3000 ppm. Paramater yang diamati diantaranya tinggi tanaman, diameter batang, dan banyak jumlah daun. Data dianalisis dengan sidik ragam ANOVA taraf kepercayaan 5%. Apabila perlakuan menunjukkan pengaruh yang nyata maka dilanjutkan dengan uji Beda Nyata Terkecil (BNT). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan pemberian POC urine kelinci pada perlakuan P3 (3000 ppm) memberikan pengaruh signifikan pada tinggi tanaman, diameter batang, dan jumlah daun tanaman tomat pada umur 28 hari setelah tanam (HST) dan 35 HST dibandingkan perlakuan lainya.
