Abstract

Abstract

Abstract

The learning of Qur’an reading and writing at Babussalam Qur’anic Learning Center and Darus Surur Qur’anic Learning Center in Plemahan Village, Sumobito District, Jombang Regency faced challenges in the form of low student comprehension of tajwid rules and limited use of teaching media by teachers. These conditions affected the quality of Qur’anic recitation and reduced student motivation. This community service program aimed to improve students’ ability to read the Qur’an according to tajwid, provide innovative learning media, and empower teachers in managing the teaching process. The program was conducted through a participatory approach using the Participatory Action Research method, involving students, teachers, and institutional leaders. The stages of the program included problem identification, joint planning with partners, development of learning media in the form of a spiral poster of tajwid, implementation of learning activities using the media, and evaluation through pre-tests, post-tests, and satisfaction questionnaires. The results showed a significant improvement in students’ abilities, with the percentage of students able to read according to tajwid increasing from 35 percent before the program to 78 percent after the activities. Students also demonstrated higher enthusiasm in learning, while teachers gained new experiences in applying interactive teaching media. This program proved that a simple innovation can create substantial improvements in Qur’anic education in rural communities. It also fostered greater awareness of the importance of Qur’anic literacy from an early age and has the potential to be replicated in other Islamic educational institutions with similar conditions.

Abstract

This study aims to examine strategies for enhancing the sustainability of Learning Management System (LMS)-based Islamic Religious Education (PAI) learning through the integration of holistic measurement and the Plan–Do–Check–Act (PDCA) cycle. PAI emphasizes holistic student development across cognitive, affective, and psychomotor domains grounded in Islamic spiritual values; however, LMS-based evaluation and revision practices remain fragmented and insufficiently systematic. This study employs a systematic literature review (SLR) following the PRISMA protocol, analyzing scholarly articles published between 2015 and 2024 from reputable databases such as Scopus and Google Scholar. Of the 150 articles initially identified, 45 met the inclusion criteria and were analyzed using qualitative thematic meta-synthesis. The findings reveal that LMS enhances learning flexibility and student engagement but remains limited in facilitating the internalization of Islamic values and sustainable revision mechanisms. This study proposes an original contribution in the form of a Holistic Adaptive PAI–PDCA Framework, integrating multidimensional assessment with adaptive feedback and continuous revision within LMS environments. Theoretically, this framework contributes to the development of Total Quality Management perspectives in Islamic education. Practically, it offers conceptual guidance for PAI teachers to optimize LMS implementation in a value-based and sustainable learning context. This study is limited by the absence of empirical validation; therefore, future longitudinal and mixed-method studies are recommended

Abstract

ABSTRACT This study aims to analyze the construction of internal motivation in memorizing the Qur'an among students participating in the Tahfidz Program at Madrasah Aliyah Unggulan KH. Abd. Wahab Hasbullah, Tambakberas, Jombang. A qualitative approach with a phenomenological design was employed to explore the participants' lived experiences in developing their motivation for Qur'an memorization throughout the Tahfidz program. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation involving Tahfidz students, the program coordinator, and Qur'an teachers as research participants. Data were analyzed interactively using the Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña model, encompassing data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing and verification. The findings reveal that internal motivation is constructed through four interrelated dimensions: a conducive learning environment, perseverance in coping with academic demands, future orientation, and an intrinsic need to continuously engage with the Qur'an. These dimensions are fostered through a structured Tahfidz program characterized by continuous mentoring, reflective evaluation, and the habituation of Qur'anic practices. The study concludes that the effectiveness of Tahfidz education depends not only on memorization methods but also on the institution's capacity to establish a supportive learning ecosystem that sustains students' internal motivation and enhances the overall quality of Tahfidz education. Abstract

The development of Ulum al-Dīn in the contemporary era faces significant challenges due to advances in science and technology, globalization, and shifts in educational paradigms. These conditions necessitate the reconstruction of Ulum al-Dīn studies to ensure their continued relevance in addressing contemporary issues in Islamic Religious Education (IRE). This study aims to analyze the development of Ulum al-Dīn and its implications for contemporary Islamic Religious Education through a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach. The study employed the PRISMA guidelines by analyzing 20 selected articles from an initial pool of 44 articles retrieved from the Scopus database. The data were analyzed thematically using NVivo software. The findings indicate that: (1) the relationship between Ulum al-Dīn and secular sciences has evolved toward an integrative-interconnected paradigm, requiring Islamic Religious Education to integrate Islamic sciences with science, technology, and the social sciences in curriculum development and instructional practices; (2) the development of Ulum al-Dīn from the classical to the modern era demonstrates an expansion toward multidisciplinary, interdisciplinary, and transdisciplinary approaches, encouraging Islamic Religious Education to develop innovative, contextual, and responsive learning that aligns with scientific advancements; and (3) the persistence of partial and textual understandings of Ulum al-Dīn has contributed to intolerance and radicalism, thereby requiring Islamic Religious Education to strengthen religious moderation, critical thinking, digital literacy, and twentyfirst-century competencies. Therefore, Ulum al-Dīn should be developed as an integrative scientific paradigm that serves as the foundation for transforming Islamic Religious Education to produce graduates who are religious, moderate, adaptive, and globally competitive in the contemporary era.

Abstract

The transformation of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) has become increasingly important in responding to the demands of 21st-century education, which requires learners to develop critical thinking, creativity, communication, collaboration, and strong moral character. Although previous studies have examined pedagogical innovation, digital technology integration, and character education in PAI, the existing literature remains fragmented, with limited integrative synthesis of these dimensions within Islamic educational contexts. This study aims to synthesize current evidence on the transformation of PAI and develop an integrative conceptual framework that supports the development of 21st-century competencies. A Systematic Literature Review (SLR) based on the PRISMA 2020 guidelines was conducted. Following the identification, screening, eligibility, and inclusion process, 25 peer-reviewed articles published between 2020 and 2025 were selected for qualitative synthesis. The review demonstrates that effective PAI transformation is achieved through the integration of three interrelated dimensions: pedagogical innovation, digital technology, and character education grounded in Islamic values. Rather than functioning independently, these dimensions interact synergistically to create adaptive, student-centered, and contextually relevant learning environments that foster both academic competence and religious character while strengthening students' 21st-century skills. This study contributes by proposing an integrative conceptual framework for PAI transformation aligned with 21st-century competencies. The framework provides a comprehensive synthesis that bridges pedagogy, technology, and Islamic character education, offering theoretical insights and practical guidance for curriculum development and instructional practice in contemporary Islamic education.
