Abstract

This study aims to describe the role of social media in forming language politeness in elementary school students. The type of research used is a qualitative approach with data sources from students, teachers, and parents. The location of the research was carried out at SDN Semampirejo, Lamongan Regency. Data collection techniques use observation, interviews, and documentation. This model emphasizes that data analysis in qualitative research takes place in a cycle and consists of three main stages: data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions/verification. The results of the study show that social media has a complex influence on students' language politeness. Students tend to maintain language politeness when communicating with teachers and parents, but in interaction with peers, the use of language is more relaxed and follows digital trends. Schools have tried to teach language norms and ethics, but the main challenge is how to shape those habits in student interactions on social media. Environmental factors, including the roles of teachers, parents, and peers, have a major influence on students' communication patterns. In addition, indications of negative behavior, such as profanity and sarcasm in online communication, were found, indicating the importance of further supervision. This study concludes that social media has a dual role in the formation of language politeness. Therefore, collaboration is needed between schools, families, and the surrounding environment to instill the values of politeness in students' digital communication.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the strategies for strengthening religious Moderation and national defences in the Islamic Religious Education (PAI) course, as implemented by Islamic Religious Education lecturers at the University of Indonesia. These strategies serve as a supplement to enhance students' understanding of moderate religious perspectives and deepen their national insight. This research employs a qualitative approach using a case study method conducted at the University of Indonesia. The data was obtained through in-depth interviews with PAI lecturers at UI, document analysis, and participatory observation. The data analysis process in this study consisted of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. Data was reduced by selecting and categorizing relevant information obtained from interviews, document analysis, and participatory observations. The reduced data were then systematically presented in a narrative form to facilitate the interpretation process. The final stage involved drawing conclusions by identifying patterns, relationships, and meanings that emerged from the overall analyzed data. The findings indicate that the implementation of Islamic Religious Education at the University of Indonesia follows the regulations governing General Compulsory Courses (MKWU) as mandated by the government. The Islamic Religious Education course at UI is part of the Higher Education Personality Development Program (PPKPT) under the University Course Management, Directorate of Education, University of Indonesia. In practice, PAI at UI is not only taught through classroom lectures but also supplemented with treatments and enrichment activities such as religious studies, personality, and organizational capacity development (Religious Moderation and National Defense Student Movement). These efforts aim to enhance students' religious knowledge and understanding while simultaneously strengthening their national insight.

Abstract

STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) learning based on Islamic values is an innovative approach in education that aims to form students who are intellectually capable and spiritually whole. This research is a qualitative study with a descriptive approach that aims to identify the needs of STEAM learning in Islamic schools and analyze the integration of Islamic values in the process. The research was conducted at SMA Adh-Dhuhaa Sukoharjo as one of the Islamic educational institutions that shows commitment to implementing the STEAM approach based on Islamic values Data obtained through interviews with school principals, subject teachers (Science, Mathematics, Technology, and Arts), curriculum coordinators, education staff, and students who are directly involved in the learning process, observation of learning activities, as well as documentation of curriculum and teaching tools. The data collection method used triangulation techniques, while the data analysis was carried out thematically with the Miles and Huberman interactive model. The results of the study show that there are six main needs in the implementation of Islamic STEAM, namely flexible curriculum, teacher collaboration, supporting facilities, innovative learning resources, value-based approaches, and teacher training. It is evident that STEAM learning with the integration of Islamic values is able to encourage a holistic education that combines mastery of science and the formation of spiritual character, and is worthy of being developed more widely in Islamic schools.

Abstract

This study investigates the potential of Pesantren Darussalam Parmeraan, North Sumatra, to foster disaster resilience by integrating Sendai Framework’s disaster risk reduction (DRR) principles into its Islamic education curriculum. Situated in a forested area near a river, the pesantren faces flood and landslide risks. Employing a qualitative approach with case study, data were sourced from curriculum documents (akhlak, fiqh, tafsir), santri guidelines, activity records (gotong royong, tree planting, water management), and semi-structured interviews with the kiai, ustaz, and santri. Data were collected through document reviews and interviews, analyzed following Miles and Huberman (1994) via data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing to identify DRR elements. Findings reveal traces of DRR in local practices and Islamic values (amanah, tawakkal, solidarity), aligning with Sendai’s risk understanding, governance, resilience investment, and preparedness. However, gaps such as the absence of evacuation training, fragmented risk knowledge, and limited external collaboration hinder effectiveness. Proposed modules—“Environmental Akhlak,” “Disaster Fiqh,” and ikhtiar-based simulations—integrate disaster science with spirituality, strengthening isolated community resilience. This study offers a faith-based DRR model, contributing to Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 4, 13) and global literature.
