Abstract

The river is an important element in the life of the people who live around it. However, the high rate of river pollution makes the existence of the river cannot be used optimally. One of the causes of river pollution is the behavior of littering. The waste problem in Indonesia is still a thorny problem that has not been resolved until now. The increasingly polluted Musi River makes people vulnerable to the impacts of existing river pollution. Children are agents of change who need to be educated to produce quality young generations. Sanitary Camp is a program to educate about environmental health for young children so they will love their environment more. The method used is the Photovoice method which used photos as a means of expressing the views of participants. Participants in this community service were early childhood and elementary school children, totaling 35 people. There are 3 main stages of the photovoice process: making photographs, collective interpretation, and the process of dissemination of the resulting photos. The results of this community service activity reveal that the waste problem around the Musi River is caused by the habit of disposing of garbage that has been going on for generations in the community and the lack of waste management infrastructure as a practical solution for the community. There needs to be a role for the government to socialize and procure adequate waste management facilities and facilities for the sake of the sustainability of a healthy environment.

Abstract

Anemia has adverse health effects on pregnant women and their fetuses. Anemia during pregnancy will be at risk of giving birth to children with anemia leading to an increased risk of stunted children. EMO DEMO is a form of nutrition education with a simple delivery method developed by GAINing. (Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition). This community service aims to determine anemia in pregnant women and introduce EMO DEMO nutrition education to 30 pregnant women and 5 Posyandu cadres. The EMO DEMO material used food source high in iron named ATIKA (heart, fish, chicken). The activity was carried out in July 2022 in the village of Burai (Ogan Ilir) as stunting locus. The results of measuring hemoglobin levels found that as many as 8 pregnant women (26,7%) had anemia. Pregnant women and cadres found it easy to remember food ingredients that were good sources of iron during pregnancy. After participating in this EMO DEMO, it was expected participants could consume foods high in iron to prevent anemia during pregnancy. Furthermore, cadres could use the EMO DEMO method to conduct nutrition education for other pregnant women.

Abstract

Problems surrounding menstruation, especially menstrual pain, are often discussed by women, especially young women. Menstrual pain or known as dysmenorrhea can occur in some women caused by hormonal, uterine contractions and inflammation. In adolescents, dysmenorrhea that occurs is more due to unstable hormones and causes discomfort. One of the non-pharmacological efforts to overcome this condition is by doing abdominal stretching. The socialization carried out in this service activity aims to increase the understanding and mastery of adolescents in overcoming dysmenorrhea by doing abdominal stretching. Based on the initial anamnesis on 20 adolescent girls, it was found that 1 adolescent experienced severe dysmenorrhea, 4 adolescents experienced moderate dysmenorrhea, and the others only complained of mild discomfort during menstruation. From the results of evaluating teenagers' understanding of efforts to reduce dysmenorrhea, there was an increase of 33.55 points based on the average value. Through this socialization, it is expected to empower adolescents to make preventive efforts to overcome dysmenorrhea as a characteristic of community independence.

Abstract

Infectious diseases are a threatening health problem in developing countries, including Indonesia. Diseases caused by bacterial infections can be overcome relatively easily after the discovery of various antibiotics. Uncontrolled use of antibiotics will trigger antibiotic resistance. With the incidence of antibiotic resistance, the potential of antibiotics will be reduced in treating infections and diseases in humans, animals and plants. Community service activities aim to provide knowledge to the community about antibiotics, how to use antibiotics wisely, and introduction to the concept of antibiotic resistance. The activities carried out were in the form of empowerment in the form of counseling for the community and assistance in the form of training for groups of prospective antibiotic wise cadres in the Siring Agung Village area. The results of this activity were obtained to increase the insight and knowledge of the community and health cadres about Antibiotic Wisdom, especially the use of antibiotics correctly, how to get them, how to follow up on antibiotic drug waste if it remains. In addition, the community and cadres also have the skills to wash hands properly and correctly using running water and soap independently to prevent transmission of infectious diseases. Furthermore, it is hoped that continuous service activities with similar themes at different layers or levels of society can be carried out in order for the community to know the importance of the principle of using antibiotics wisely so that the incidence of antibiotic drug resistance can be suppressed to increase.

Abstract

Ecoenzymes are the result of fermentation of organic materials originating from kitchen waste in the form of fruit or vegetable peels which have many benefits for nature and humans, including as natural plant fertilizer, natural herbicides and pesticides, even in the field of human health. Utilizing fruit and vegetable waste is one of the 'zero waste' movements that can reduce the greenhouse effect. Community Service Program (PPM) activities by utilizing household waste into ecoenzymes were carried out in Tebedak 2 village, Payaraman, Ogan Ilir Regency. This activity is very simple and includes collecting and processing fruit or vegetable waste, mixing it with molasses and water in a ratio of 3: 1: 10, then fermenting or leaving it in a plastic container for 30 to 90 days until ecoenzymes are produced. The training participants were mostly attended by women, with the age range of participants being 20–50 years. The training material delivered, responses to the material delivered, how to implement the material, clarity of the counseling and training material, counseling on whether the information and knowledge provided will be applied, and satisfaction in delivering the counseling and training information were assessed by the majority as very good by the participants. The results of this questionnaire show that this activity is very beneficial for society.
