Abstract

Material komposit adalah material yang tersusun dari dua atau lebih material yang memiliki sifat ringan, kaku, tahan korosi dan keuletan. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengamati dan menganalisis pengaruh temperatur curing terhadap kekuatan tarik dan bending hyvbrid komposit fiberglass dengan tipe woven dan mat. Material yang digunakan yaitu resin, serat woven dan serat mat dengan metode vaccum bagging bertekanan 14 Psi dan dilakukan proses curing pada temperatur 40oC, 50oC, 60oC, 70oC, 80oC dengan waktu curing selama 2 jam. Pengujian yang dilakukan pada penelitian ini adalah pengujian tarik dan pengujian bending yang merujuk pada standar ASTM D 638 dan ASTM D 790. Nilai kekuatan tarik maksimal komposit fiberglass tertinggi terdapat pada temperatur 60oC dengan nilai sebesar 152,67 MPa dan nilai kekuatan tarik terendah terdapat pada temperatur 40oC dengan nilai sebesar 76,40 MPa. Nilai kekuatan bending maksimal tertinggi juga terdapat pada temperatur 60oC dengan nilai sebesar 547,70 MPa dan nilai kekuatan bending terendah terdapat pada temperatur 40oC dengan nilai sebesar 310,30 MPa.

Abstract

Kompresor adalah alat atau mesin yang meningkatkan atau menempatkan fluida gas (tekanan udara) atau udara. Fungsi utama kompresor adalah mengambil gas atau udara dari lingkungan sekitar, memberikan tekanan ke dalam tabung, dan kemudian menyampaikannya kembali dalam bentuk udara yang memiliki tekanan. PT. WKB memiliki alat-alat produksi di setiap jalur yang memanfaatkan tenaga udara atau angin untuk menggerakkan mesin-mesin produksi. Jika mesin kompressor tidak segera dibenahi maka proses produksi beton pun akan terganggu. Tulisan ini menyajikan tinjauan literatur tentang pemeliharaan perawatan pada mesin Three Cylinder Air Compressor di PT. WKB. Proses pengecekan dan perawatan-perawatan serta pergantian yang dilakukan saat maintenance part komponen pada kompresor dilakukan jika terjadi kerusakan yang fatal pada study kasus ini kompressor terjadi overhead yang mengakibatkan piston dan stang piston rusak. Metode penelitian yang dilakukan adalah dengan menggunakan metode studi literatur, observasi lapangan, dan pengumpulan data. Penelitian ini menganalisis berbagai pendekatan, metode, dan alat yang digunakan dalam pemeliharaan yang terencana, serta keuntungan yang diperoleh dalam hal peningkatan produktivitas dan pengurangan biaya. Kerusakan yang terjadi tersebut mengakibatkan mesin kompresor harus di bongkar total (overhoul) di dalam workshop.

Abstract

The chain and scraper bucket system is a one of the main components of the reclaimer limestone. The chain and scraper bucket system functions to scrape limestone material using a motor-driven bucket scraper and then directs the material into the belt conveyor. This study aims to the determine the method of chain treatment and scraper bucket system on reclaimer limestone in cement companies. The methods used in data collection are introduction and observation, interviews and discussions, literature study and data collection into field. The results of this study indicate the need for maintenance of preventive species treatment on reclaimer limestone in cement companies so that the machine can work optimally.

Abstract

Pompa meningkatkan tekanan fluida. Ada tiga jenis: positive displacement, dynamic (kinetic), dan special effect. Kavitasi adalah penyebab performansi pompa menurun, terutama pada pompa sentrifugal.   Dalam proses pengolahan minyak mentah, kinerja pompa memiliki peranan penting guna menyalurkan minyak mentah maupun produk ke tangki-tangki penampungan di PT XYZ Refinery Unit VI Balongan. Maka perlunya dilakukan analisis peforma pada pompa 42-P-301 A tandhem seal setelah di aligment pada area Oil Movement. Metode yang digunakan dalam analisis performance pompa 42-P-301 A adalah menggunakan proses perhitungan peritungan actual untuk membuktikan efisiensi. Data untuk riset diperoleh dari data sheet dan log sheet pompa 42-P-301A, termasuk Kapasitas/Debit (Q), Suction Pressure (Ps), Discharge Pressure (Pd), Differential Head (H), Daya Poros Pompa saat kapasitas maksimal (P), NPSHr, Diameter Sunction (ds) dan Diameter Discharge (dd). Didapatkan data parameter unjuk kerja dari pompa 42-P-301 A pada bulan Juni didapatkan Head Suction 9,624 m, Head Discharge 49,98 m, Head pompa 42,18 m, Daya pompa 967,45 watt, Daya fluida 781,64 watt, Efisiensi pompa 80,79%, NPSHa 9,19 m, dan Juli Head Suction 10,154 m, Head Discharge 43,98 m, Head pompa 43,10 m, Daya pompa 967,45 watt, Daya fluida 789,68 watt, Efisiensi pompa 82,55% dan NPSHa 9,06 m.

Abstract

Pompa merupakan mesin yang berfungsi untuk menaikkan tekanan fluida. Dengan naiknya tekanan fluida maka fluida dapat dipindahkan dari satu tempat ke tempat lain atau untuk menaikkan fluida dari level yang rendah ke level yang lebih tinggi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis dan memperbaiki masalah pada pompa 42-P-301 A Tandem Seal di area Oil Movement yang mengalami ketidaksesuaian (missalignment). Metode analisis termasuk pengumpulan data, wawancara, dan pemantauan kondisi peralatan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Penurunan efisiensi pompa tersebut antara lain disebabkan karena adanya kerugian-kerugian pada faktor internal (bagian pompa itu sendiri) seperti terjadinya gesekan impeller dengan fluida.

Abstract

External magnetic fields can improve the quality of TIG welding results. This research aims to determine the effect of external magnetic fields in the TIG welding process. The material used in this research is SS400 steel. The welding process uses TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas) with varying currents of 70 A, 80 A, 90 A and 100 A and uses additional 2 Neodymium external magnets. Testing of welding results in the form of macro, micro structure, Vickers hardness test and tensile test. The macro structure test results show several welding defects such as porosity, incomplete penetration, underfill and distortion. Meanwhile, the results of microstructure testing show that the base metal contains ferrite and pearlite structures. The HAZ section contains ferrite, pearlite and martensite types of structures. The highest tensile test results were found in TIG welding connections without using a magnet with a current of 100 A, namely 368.234 MPa. The highest hardness test results were found in TIG welding joints using a magnet with a current of 100 A, namely 176,712 HVN. The use of external magnets can produce large penetration during the welding process and produce good welded joints. On the other hand, this can have a negative impact on the welding results if the distance between the electric arc and the material is not correct, and the torch does not move according to the welding path.

Abstract

This study explores the utilization of Renewable Energy Sources (RES) through the production of biomass briquettes using palm kernel shells as a sustainable energy source. The raw materials include palm kernel shells as the main component, along with tapioca flour, sago flour, and molasses as binders. The production process involves molding under a pressure of 50 kg/cm² and drying at 100°C for 3 hours. Experiments were conducted with variations in the proportions of the main material and binders, resulting in an optimal composition of 75% palm kernel shells and 25% binder. Test results indicate that briquettes with tapioca flour as a binder exhibit the best characteristics, with a moisture content of 3.74%, a calorific value of 5,405.67 cal/g, ash content of 5.77%, fixed carbon of 56.42%, volatile matter of 44.63%, and a burning rate of 0.1939 g/min. This study validates that the developed briquette formulation meets the SNI 01-6235-2000 standard, demonstrating its potential as a sustainable alternative energy source.

Abstract

The composite sandwich core is one of the parts that act as an additional material. Despite the thinner core, it should produce a stiff, strong, and lightweight composite, and the higher the bending strength value obtained. This study aims to observe and analyze the influence of core thickness on bending strength and obtain elastic modulus as well as analyze the results of sandwich composite fracture after bending testing. The materials used are polyester resin, 240 gsm twill carbon fiber and core PVC foam. Variations in core thickness of 2 mm, 3 mm, 5 mm, 8 mm, and 10 mm. The method used is vacuum bagging. The tests carried out are bending tests using the ASTM C393 standard. The bending strength value of sandwich composite was obtained at a core thickness variation of 2 mm, which was 81.34 MPa, while the lowest bending strength value was found in a core thickness variation of 10 mm, which was 13.08 MPa.

Abstract

The development of technology in enhancing the mechanical properties of materials, such as hardness in metals, has progressed rapidly, particularly in steel. Based on its carbon content, carbon steel is classified into three categories: high-carbon steel, medium-carbon steel, and low-carbon steel. Low-carbon steel contains carbon in the range of 0.04% to 0.30%, one of which is AISI 1020 steel. This study aims to determine the effect of varying intercritical annealing temperatures on the microstructure and hardness of AISI 1020 steel using a saltwater cooling medium. The heating process was conducted using a furnace for 3 hours at different temperatures of 673°C, 723°C, 773°C, 823°C and 873°C. The tests performed included microstructure analysis and hardness testing. The hardness test was conducted using a hardness tester with the Vickers method, while the microstructure analysis was carried out using a trinocular metallurgical microscope. The results showed that the formed phases remained the same as in the initial specimen, consisting of ferrite and pearlite. The highest hardness value was obtained from the specimen heated at 823°C, reaching 243.49 HVN, while the lowest hardness value of 184.33 HVN was recorded in the initial specimen without heat treatment.

Abstract

The percentage of NaOH is one of the parameters that greatly affects the sisal fiber composite (Agave Sisalana). The purpose of this study was to observe and analyze the effect of the percentage of NaOH on the tensile strength of sisal fiber composites (Agave Sisalana). The materials used are sisal fiber (Agave Sisalana) and polyurethane resin at various percentages of NaOH, namely without treatment (0%), 4%, 7%, and 10% with soaking time for 2 hours and drying in the sun for a maximum of three days or until the fiber is completely dry. Composite manufacturing was carried out using the compression molding method for 24 hours at a pressure of 50 bar. The tests carried out in this study were tensile tests referring to the ASTM D 638 standard. The percentage of NaOH without treatment (0%) has the lowest maximum tensile value of 6.688 MPa, while the percentage of 7% NaOH has the highest maximum tensile strength value of 11.821 MPa. Then, the percentage of NaOH without treatment (0%) has the lowest maximum elastic modulus value of 0.072 GPa, and the highest maximum elastic modulus value of 0.152 GPa is also found at 7% NaOH percentage.
