Abstract

The increase in the volume and variety of waste in Siwal Village, Baki, Sukoharjo, has prompted the need for a management strategy that is not only technically oriented but also focuses on improving the knowledge capacity of the community. The growing population and settlements have led to waste that has not been managed optimally, with much of it still scattered on roads and public areas. This initiative aims to enhance community understanding and engagement in waste management through system digitalisation and continuous education. The partner in this initiative is BUMDes Citra Abadi Siwal, which currently lacks a structured waste management system and faces limitations in terms of human resources and infrastructure. Through outreach, training, and mentoring, the community is actively involved in developing community-based waste management systems. The education provided includes waste sorting, the use of a web-based waste bank system, and the importance of waste management as an economic opportunity. The results of the activity show an increase in community knowledge and participation, particularly in terms of waste disposal and sorting. The implementation of a digital system also facilitates record-keeping, monitoring, and enhances transparency in management. Despite challenges such as old habits and infrastructure limitations, this initiative has positively impacted environmental cleanliness and economic contributions through the BUMDes business unit. Thus, this initiative serves as a strategic step in enhancing community capacity toward sustainable waste management.

Abstract

Advances in digital technology have revolutionized the maritime sector through the use of Automatic Identification Systems (AIS), artificial intelligence (AI), remote sensing, and geospatial analytics, which are increasingly important in supporting Maritime Domain Awareness (MDA). Various studies show that AIS now functions as a strategic data source for predictive analytics, risk mapping, and even detecting anomalous vessel behavior, while big data and AI drive energy efficiency, logistics optimization, and intelligent navigation systems. Various methodological innovations can enable the integration of heterogeneous data to produce more accurate ship accident risk maps, while the combination of AIS with satellite imagery strengthens the detection of illegal activities such as IUU fishing in remote areas. Furthermore, the application of machine learning and deep learning algorithms has proven effective in detecting data manipulation and abnormal navigation patterns, thus strengthening early detection and rapid response systems. For Indonesia, which has strategic shipping lanes, the integration of these technologies is highly relevant to strengthen maritime surveillance, enhance maritime security, and maintain sovereignty amidst the region's geopolitical dynamics.

Abstract

The consumption of unhealthy snacks among young children is increasing, while parents’ knowledge of children’s nutritional needs remains limited. This study aimed to evaluate the impact of ethnoparenting-based training on improving parents’ knowledge of early childhood nutrition in Karangsari Village, West Java. The focus of the training was to develop an innovative nutritious snack, Manca, made from local ingredients, namely Manyung fish bone meal and Leunca vegetables, both rich in calcium and phosphorus. This research employed a pre-experimental design with pre-test and post-test procedures. The sample consisted of 30 parents of children aged 2 to 6 years, selected through purposive sampling. Data were analyzed using the Shapiro-Wilk test, Levene test, and paired t-test. The results indicated a significant improvement in parents’ knowledge, with the mean post-test score increasing by 37 points from 48 to 85. The findings align with Bandura’s Social Learning Theory and Bronfenbrenner’s Ecological Systems Theory, emphasizing the role of parental modeling and cultural context in shaping nutritional practices. The ethnoparenting-based training proved effective in enhancing parents’ awareness of balanced nutrition for young children. This study highlights the importance of culturally grounded approaches in health and education programs for parents. The findings imply the need to integrate ethnoparenting-based training into early childhood care and education (ECCE) policies globally, particularly in multicultural contexts where parental knowledge of nutrition varies widely. By promoting culturally sensitive nutrition behaviors among parents, this study contributes to the global discourse on improving child health outcomes amid rising cases of undernutrition and overnutrition. Furthermore, incorporating local practices into educational interventions may serve as a model for sustainable and culturally responsive public health initiatives worldwide.

Abstract

This research aims to describe the implementation of the Pangku Paliare tradition in Muara Dua Village, Bengkulu Province, as well as to identify the religious values contained within and their role in internalizing values for early childhood. Pangku Paliare is an annual tradition held every 1st of Muharram as a form of gratitude to God for safety and sustenance. This tradition involves the entire community, including children, who participate in various customary activities as a means of teaching life and spiritual values. The researcher employed a qualitative approach with a case study method. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, then analyzed using the interactive model by Miles and Huberman through the stages of data reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results indicate that this tradition has three main stages: preparation, the main event, and closing, all of which are rich in religious and social values. Values such as honesty are reflected in elders' advice; gratitude is expressed through communal prayers on the 10th of Muharram; and mutual cooperation and togetherness are evident in activities preparing for the Mlemang procession. The involvement of children in all series of activities makes this tradition an effective medium for character education based on local wisdom.
