Abstract

PT Perkebunan Nusantara III is a state-owned company engaged in plantation activities. Sei Silau Plantation is one of the units that manages oil palm plantations. One of the factors that determines the company's performance is the productivity of the harvesters. The amount of premium received by harvesters is a factor that affects motivation and performance, but the determination of premiums still uses general slope data for each harvest area in determining the task base. The method used in this research is spatial data processing, overlaying slope data from Demnas with regional boundaries at each level and then analysing the increase in productivity and premiums. The results showed that the slope class from the spatial analysis was divided into three parts, namely flat and undulating (0-15%) covering 114.91 ha/45.85%, hilly (15-45%) covering 110.34 ha/44.03% and hilly without terraces (>45%) covering 25.35 ha/10.12% of the total oil palm area. The slope class of each plantation is divided into three classes. There was an increase in productivity and premium after the method change, namely an increase in productivity from April to May by 214.95 kg/17.04%, May to June by 123.43/8.43% and April to June by 339.38 kg/26.90%, and an increase in premium from April to May by Rp 3,190,252/22.20%, May to June by Rp 1,642,123/9.35% and April to June by Rp 4,832,375/33.63%. This shows a clear correlation between increased productivity and increased premiums.

This research was conducted at the Politeknik Unggul LP3M in Medan, Indonesia. The study’s population was comprised of active students from the 2019/2020 academic year, totaling 257 individuals. A stratified sampling technique was employed, using the Slovin formula with a 5% margin of error, resulting in a sample size of 157 respondents. The study utilized a quantitative approach, with data collected through structured questionnaires. The analysis included descriptive statistics, reliability tests, and path analysis to determine the direct and indirect effects of personal selling and brand image on college decision-making through brand trust. The findings indicate that personal selling significantly affects brand trust, suggesting that effective strategies can enhance students’ trust in the institution’s brand. Similarly, brand image significantly directly affects brand trust, underscoring the importance of a positive brand image in building trust among potential students. Furthermore, the results show that personal selling indirectly influences college decision-making through brand trust, indicating that the trust developed through personal selling efforts can lead to positive college choice decisions. Likewise, brand image indirectly affects college decision-making through brand trust, highlighting the role of a strong brand image in shaping students’ enrollment decisions. In conclusion, personal selling and brand image are crucial in influencing college decisions, with brand trust as a key mediating variable. These findings provide valuable insights for educational institutions aiming to enhance their marketing strategies and build stronger relationships with prospective students. Future research could explore additional factors influencing college decision-making and examine these relationships in different educational contexts.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of communication quality and problem handling on user complaints of the DANA application, especially for students of the Faculty of Economics, State University of Medan. The background of this study is the increasing user complaints about the DANA application, such as slow customer service response, failed transactions, and lack of clarity in problem solving. This study used a quantitative approach with a survey method, and data were obtained through questionnaires distributed to 100 respondents selected by purposive sampling. The research instrument measured three variables: communication quality (X₁), problem handling (X₂), and user complaints (Y), with a Likert scale of 1-5. The reliability test results show that all variables have Cronbach's Alpha values above 0.8, which means they are highly reliable. The results of multiple linear regression analysis show that communication quality has a positive and significant effect on user complaints (t count = 2.206; sig = 0.03), and problem handling has a significant negative effect (t count = -2.480; sig = 0.015). The simultaneous test (F count = 5.190; sig = 0.007) shows that both variables together have a significant effect on user complaints. This study concludes that improving communication and problem handling can reduce the level of complaints and increase user satisfaction with the DANA application.

Abstract

This international Community Service (CSP) program was conducted in Dong Phu District, Binh Phuoc Province, Vietnam. The main objective of the program was to strengthen the capacity of Indonesian coffee farmers through knowledge transfer regarding Vietnamese coffee agribusiness practices that have proven efficient, standardized, and supported by strong cooperative institutions. Implementation methods included technical education, workshops, field observations, post-harvest demonstrations, focus group discussions, and the development of follow-up plans. The program produced nine outputs (W1–W9), including training modules, practical videos, harvest quality standards leaflets, documentation, a draft cooperation agreement, an agribusiness flow map, program evaluation, and a six-month follow-up plan. Evaluation through pre-post tests showed a significant increase in participants' knowledge, particularly in cultivation techniques, selective harvesting, wet sorting, fermentation, gradual drying, and export quality standards. This program successfully established an initial Indonesia–Vietnam network and developed a coffee agribusiness learning model that can be replicated in Indonesia.

Abstract

This research endeavors to examine the determinants affecting the business sustainability of the Freshwater Fisheries Cultivation Center at the Sibolga Fisheries College, an institution crucial for enhancing community well-being and food security through the utilization of local resources. The variables under investigation encompass financial inclusion, risk management practices, mentoring initiatives, financial technology adoption, business partnerships, entrepreneurial competence, and entrepreneurial orientation, all in relation to business sustainability. Employing a quantitative methodology, this study utilizes an associative design. Data collection involved the distribution of questionnaires to both center managers and fisheries business stakeholders within Sibolga. Multiple regression analysis was employed to examine the data. The findings indicated that, when considered together, all seven independent variables exerted a positive and statistically significant influence on business sustainability. When assessed individually, financial inclusion, risk management, mentoring programs, and entrepreneurial competence demonstrated the most substantial contributions. Consequently, this study recommends enhancing access to formal financial resources, instituting structured risk management protocols, providing continuous mentoring support, improving digital literacy, and fostering cooperative-based partnerships to bolster the competitiveness of farmers.
