Abstract

This study aims to describe the relationship of striving for superiority as a soft skill to learning motivation. The approach used is a quantitative approach with descriptive methods in deaf students with a sample of Cerebral Palsy students in Bandung Regency. Correlative testing is performed using spearman correlation tests between striving for superiority variables and learning motivation variables. The results showed that striving for superiority has a very strong correlation to learning motivation so that it becomes an aspect that must be developed in vocational education as part of soft skills. Striving for superiority can help learners deal with various circumstances or problems through self-concept and coping strategies that are factors that influence striving for superiority. Self-concept and coping strategy will strengthen interpersonal and intrapersonal learners with special needs in undergoing the vocational development process as a form of post-school career preparation.

Abstract

This study aims to apply the snakes and ladders game media that can overcome the lack of PHBS (Clean and Healthy Living Behavior) skills, especially washing hands with soap and sorting waste in mild mentally retarded students at SLB Idayu 1 Malang. This research method uses experimental research with a one group pretest-posttest design, namely (1) pretest (2) treatment (3) posttest. Data were collected through the results of the pretest and posttest. The data analysis technique used a hypothesis test, namely the Wilcoxon test. The results concluded that there was an average value of all mentally retarded students in the pretest and posttest of 49.00 and 89.00. Thus, it can be said that the snakes and ladders game media has an effect on increasing PHBS skills in mild mentally retarded students at SLB Idayu 1 Malang.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the stigma experienced by persons with disabilities, focusing on physical and sexual stigma and its relationship with self-actualization. Using a qualitative approach, the study involved 11 individuals with disabilities aged 20–31 years from various regions in Indonesia. Data were collected through questionnaires addressing sources and forms of stigma, as well as participants’ perceptions of their ability to achieve self-actualization, particularly in romantic and sexual relationships. Findings indicate that more than half of the respondents experienced stigma related to their physical condition, especially from family and neighborhood environments. Sexual stigma was less prevalent, with only a quarter of participants reporting such experiences, likely due to the cultural taboo surrounding sexuality in Indonesia. Notably, male participants were more likely to face stigma from family members, while females encountered it more in social settings. Despite facing stigma, the majority of respondents maintained a positive belief in their ability to form fulfilling relationships and achieve self-actualization. Only one respondent expressed doubt about finding a suitable partner. These findings suggest that while stigma remains a persistent issue, it does not uniformly hinder self-actualization, as individual resilience, religious beliefs, and social support play moderating roles. Further research with a larger and more diverse population is needed to better understand how stigma impacts individuals with disabilities across different cultural and social contexts.

Abstract

This study aims to examine in depth the role of special guidance teachers at Madrasah Ar Roihan in implementing inclusive learning, as well as to analyze the pedagogical strategies applied in educating students with special needs. The implementation of inclusive education requires attention to a number of fundamental aspects, including the provision of a safe, comfortable, and friendly classroom environment for all students, including those with special needs. In addition, it is important to foster a school culture that upholds the values given to differences and acceptance of diversity. The results of the study indicate that special guidance teachers have been able to create a learning atmosphere that supports the active participation of students with special needs. To gain a comprehensive understanding of the dynamics of inclusive learning, the researcher conducted direct observations of classroom learning activities. These findings indicate the need for further training for special guidance teachers, in order to strengthen their professional competence in managing inclusive classes, designing adaptive curricula, and implementing learning strategies that are responsive to the individual needs of students. Therefore, this study emphasizes the importance of providing ongoing support for the development of the capacity of special guidance teachers, as a strategic effort to improve the quality of the implementation of inclusive education in educational units.

Abstract

Autistic children often face challenges in various aspects of social skills, particularly in demonstrating responsibility including difficulties in understanding emotional expressions, building relationships, and adapting to social norms. Inclusive education plays a crucial role in fostering their social skills, with teachers serving as primary facilitators. This study aims to explore the strategies teachers employ in guiding autistic children and identify the challenges encountered in inclusive kindergarten settings. A descriptive qualitative research method was utilized, incorporating observation, interviews, and document analysis. The data analysis process consists of three main stages, namely data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that teachers implement various strategies, such as role-playing, social storytelling, and positive reinforcement, to enhance the social skills of autistic children. However, several challenges persist, including limited specialized training, difficulties in balancing attention between regular and special needs students, and classroom management complexities. Therefore, greater support from schools and parents is essential to establishing a more inclusive and conducive learning environment that promotes the social development of autistic children.

Abstract

One of the developmental tasks of elementary school students is to be able to care for their sexual and mental health. The empirical problem faced by students at SD Negeri Mergosono 03 is that elementary school students do not yet have an understanding of sexual health, plus the challenge of adapting to body changes due to puberty and other sexuality problems. Mergosono 03 Public Elementary School students also have the problem of low self-love, characterized by feelings of inferiority, and difficulty accepting their strengths and limitations. Sexuality and mental health education related to self-love is still not found in this school. Partners also need this education. Therefore, the proposer developed the LANSCAPE SELF LOVE program: Sexuality education and self-love education for elementary school students through e-comics to address partners' problems and needs. This program is carried out through 4 stages: e-comic development, sexuality education, self-love education, and the dynamics of self-analysis related to self-strengths and limitations. This community service can increase students' understanding of sexuality and mental health.

Abstract

Reading difficulties, especially among students with dyslexia, pose a serious obstacle to the development of academic and social competencies. This study examines the effectiveness of the Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition (CIRC) method in improving the reading comprehension of students with reading difficulties in a differentiated learning context. This study uses a quantitative approach with a one-group pretest-posttest pre-experimental design. The sample consisted of 11 fourth and fifth-grade students identified as having dyslexia through teacher assessments and initial observations. Data were collected using reading comprehension tests at pretest and posttest, as well as observations of the intervention process. Data analysis was conducted using the Wilcoxon test to determine statistical differences in scores. The results showed an increase in the average score from 15.2 to 25 after the implementation of the CIRC method. The Asymp. Sig. (2-tailed) of 0.003 (<0.05) indicates a statistically significant improvement. The conclusion of this study confirms that CIRC can create a collaborative and inclusive learning environment that contributes to increased student engagement and confidence in reading. Implications suggest that CIRC is recommended as an effective differentiated learning strategy for students with reading difficulties in elementary school.

Abstract

One of the most common problems experienced by students with intellectual disabilities is attention problems. Attention problems in children with intellectual disabilities can worsen the impact of academic disabilities on children. To improve attention skills, effective learning strategies and attractive media are needed. The learning program using android-based augmented reality using tablet devices serves as a stimulator tool that not only creates interest but also student and teacher engagement in the learning process. The participants in this study are 10-year-old children with mild intellectual disabilities who attend SLB Idayu 1 Malang City. This research aims to analyze and evaluate the use of augmented reality-based media on attention in learning for children with intellectual disabilities. Data collection is done by observation with indicators of student on-task time. This research uses Single Subject Research experimental method with A-B-A design and descriptive statistical technique to analyze the data. The results showed a temporary increase in student attention to the learning program with augmented reality. This is due to several factors involved in learning activities. Factors that contribute to the results of this study include unfavorable environment, distraction, teaching style and the influence of the child's condition, while internal factors include boredom or illness and decreased motivation and interest.
