Abstract

Absolute poverty in East Java Province remains a structural problem influenced by development disparities, labor market conditions, and the quality of human development, with a slower rate of poverty reduction compared to the national average. This study aims to examine the influence of independent variables, namely capital expenditures, social aids expenditures, open unemployment rate (OUR), Human Development Index (HDI), and education level (proxied by average years of schooling) on absolute poverty in regencies and cities in East Java during the 2015–2024 period. The study employs a quantitative approach using panel data from 38 regencies and cities, analyzed via panel data regression. The results indicate that social aids expenditures, HDI, and education level contribute to reducing absolute poverty, while OUR increases absolute poverty. Meanwhile, lagged capital expenditures does not show a strong short-term contribution to poverty reduction.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of investor sentiment, dividend yield, and trading volume on the stock price volatility of banking sector companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) during the 2021–2024 period. This research employs a quantitative approach using panel data regression on 10 banking companies, resulting in a total of 40 observations. The model selection results indicate that the Random Effect Model (REM) estimated using the Generalized Least Squares (GLS) approach is the most appropriate estimation method. The findings reveal that investor sentiment has a positive and significant effect on stock price volatility, indicating that psychological factors play a more dominant role in shaping stock price dynamics within the banking sector. In contrast, dividend yield and trading volume do not have a significant effect on stock price volatility. These results suggest that stock price volatility in the banking sector during the observed period is more strongly driven by investors perceptions and expectations. This study is expected to provide valuable insights for investors in understanding the dynamics of the Indonesian stock market.

Abstract

The rapid use of social media among elementary school students has increased the risk of digital ethical issues, such as cyberbullying, misinformation, and inappropriate online communication. This community service article aims to develop and implement a social media ethics training model based on Pancasila values, integrated with digital citizenship and critical media literacy within the elementary school environment. The program was designed using a participatory approach through a series of activities, including interactive counseling, workshops, case-based discussions, simulations of ethical digital behavior, and teacher mentoring supported by systematic practical guide modules. The effectiveness of the program was evaluated using a mixed-method approach, combining pretest and posttest assessments to measure participants’ understanding, along with observations of behavioral changes and participant reflections throughout the activities. The qualitative findings indicate an improvement in students’ awareness of polite online communication, increased caution in filtering and sharing information, and the development of tolerance in responding to differing opinions. The integration of Pancasila values serves as a contextual ethical foundation that strengthens the internalization of responsible digital behavior, thereby contributing to the development of adaptive and integrity-driven student character in the digital era.

Abstract

Purpose This research aims to analyze the effect of education spending toward economic growth across 23 regencies and cities in Aceh Province.. Design/methodology/approach This research uses exploratory research and quantitative methods. The population and sample are 23 regencies and cities in Aceh province consisting of 18 regencies and 5 cities. The type of data used is secondary data and the data source is from the Ministry of National Development Planning, Ministry of Finance and the Central Statistics Agency. The analysis model used is panel data regression by StataMP for districts/cities in Aceh province from 2010-2023. Findings The findings in this research are that education spending, per capita income, and GRDP significantly effect to economic growth, meanwhile Fixed Capital Formation and Population Growth show no effect to economic growth in regencies and cities across Aceh Province 2010-2023, despite accounting for only 20% of government expenditureor 2% of total GRDP. These results indicate that regional education spending plays a critical role in fostering economic growth in Aceh. Research limitations/implications This study is limited to regencies and cities within Aceh Province, which may restrict the generalizability of the findings to regions with different administrative and fiscal frameworks. Future research could integrate qualitative educational quality indicators alongside budgetary data. Abstract

The advancement of digital technology in banking poses a new challenge in the form of increasing social engineering crimes, which theoretically should reduce customer deposit preferences as risk perception increases. However, at BRI Bank, the number of customers continues to increase despite facing social engineering, creating a gap between prospect theory and empirical conditions. This study aims to determine the influence of risk perception, bank reputation, accessibility, interest rates, and security perceptions on BRI Bank customers' deposit preferences amidst social engineering cases. The method used is a quantitative approach with explanatory research, and data were analyzed using binary logistic regression. Data were obtained through an online questionnaire distributed to BRI Bank customers in Malang City. The results of this study indicate that bank reputation and security perceptions have a significant positive effect on customer deposit preferences, while risk perceptions, accessibility, and interest rates have no effect. These findings indicate that customer deposit preferences are more influenced by trust in the bank and confidence in system security. This research is expected to serve as a reference for BRI Bank in maintaining its reputation and strengthening security to maintain customer deposit preferences.
