Abstract

This study investigated students' perceptions of English reading practice using the LINE Webtoon application. The study employed a quantitative survey research design, involving 65 students of the English Language Education Study Program of Universitas Kristen Indonesia Jakarta. Data were collected in June 2023 using an online questionnaire via Google Forms distributed to the participants via WhatsApp. The questionnaire comprised 30 items designed to gauge students’ perceptions across seven indicators: access to the Webtoon application, Webtoon application features, content engagement, interest in using the application and reading comics, duration of Webtoon reading, curiosity about Webtoon, and language use within the application. The data was analyzed using descriptive statistical analysis. The findings showed that most participants had a positive perception of English reading practice through LINE Webtoon application. The factors contributing to this positive perception included the attractive and up-to-date illustrations, the engaging and unique storylines, and the flexibility of access that allows students to read anytime and anywhere.

Abstract

The recent Covid-19 pandemic has forced universities to quickly adapt to conditions requiring the modernization of their learning systems through technology. Alongside these demands, universities must also maintain or enhance students' academic achievements. This presents significant challenges due to various internal and external problems faced by institutions. However, universities have taken numerous steps to maximize their potential and improve academic outcomes. To address these challenges effectively, universities must implement immediate solutions. A key approach is the development of adaptable learning models that can be applied both online and offline. This research focuses on developing an English language learning model. The study employs a Research and Development (RnD) design and will be conducted at the Indonesian Christian University. The objectives of this research are: a) to empirically identify the learning models students need; b) to empirically assess the feasibility of these models from the perspective of relevant experts; c) to empirically evaluate the effectiveness of the developed models; and d) to empirically analyze students' perceptions of the developed models. The expected outcome of this research is the production of fully developed learning models that are ready for implementation in universities.

Abstract

This study explores the application of Max Weber's seminal work, Protestant Ethics and the Spirit of Capitalism, as a basis for Christian religious education to effectively address the issue of poverty in modern society. By examining the historical context and underlying principles, the author suggests how Christian religious education can use Weber's ideas to promote critical understanding of economic issues and empower people to participate in overcoming poverty. The method used is a literature study approach, where the author collects data from books and relevant topics or issues in this research. The results of this study seek to bridge Weber's sociological insights with the teachings of Christian religious education, by looking at how the principles of hard work, discipline, and individual responsibility can be instilled through the lens of Christian religious education to empower communities in the fight against poverty. By instilling values that promote economic empowerment, community development, and social responsibility, Christian religious education emerges as a powerful tool to address the challenges of poverty in contemporary society.

Abstract

This article discusses the significant role of Christian Religious Education in responding to the negative impacts of technology use on adolescents in the digital era. The research focuses on how religious principles, including inner peace, self-control, and meaningful goal-setting, provide a strong foundation for adolescents to confront technological challenges. The research methods involve analyzing the content of Christian religious teachings and case studies to comprehend the concrete impacts on adolescents. The findings affirm that Christian Religious Education can shape adolescent character, guide wise technology use, and provide moral foundations to address digital pressures. The discussion highlights the integration of religious values into adolescent life, the development of critical thinking skills towards digital information, and the strengthening of interpersonal relationships. The conclusion emphasizes the urgency of Christian Religious Education as a holistic solution, enabling adolescent growth in spiritual, moral, and emotional aspects amid the complexities of the digital era. Shaping character, guiding prudent technology use, and instilling moral values make Christian Religious Education key to assisting adolescents in navigating digital challenges with overall balance.

Abstract

Abstract:This study aims to describe the implementation of the Christian religious education teacher working group (KKG) in improving the professional competence of PAK teachers in Muaro Jambi Regency in the Implementation of the Independent Curriculum. The research method used is a qualitative research method with a descriptive approach. From the results of the study, it was found that very few PAK SD teachers in Muaro Jambi Regency were touched in the process of increasing their professional competence in implementing the curriculum, especially the newly launched Independent Curriculum. The results of the study stated that the empowerment of the PAK KKG in Muaro Jambi Regency and the implementation in accordance with the provisions, namely planning, organizing, implementing and evaluating the KKG could improve the professional competence of PAK teachers in Muaro Jambi Regency in implementing the Merdeka Curriculum.Keywords: merdeka curriculum; KKG PAK, teacher's professional competence Abstrak:Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan pelaksanaan Kelompok Kerja Guru (KKG) Pendidikan Agama Kristen dalam peningkatan kompetensi profesioanl Guru PAK Kabupaten Muaro Jambi dalam Implementasi Kurikulum Merdeka. Metode penelitian yang digunakan yaitu metode penelitian kualitatif dengan pendekatan deskriptif. Dari hasil penelitian ditemukan bahwa guru PAK SD Kabupaten Muaro Jambi masih sangat sedikit yang tersentuh dalam proses peningkatan kompetensi profesionalnya dalam mengimpletasikan kurikulum apalagi Kurikulum Merdeka yang baru diluncurkan. Hasil penelitian menyebutkan bahwa pemberdayaan KKG PAK Kabupaten Muaro Jambi serta pelaksanaan yang sesuai ketentuan yaitu perencanaan, pengorganisasian, pelaksanaan dan evaluasi KKG dapat meningkatkan kompetensi profesional guru PAK Kabupaten Muaro Jambi dalam mengimplementasikan Kurikulum Merdeka.Katakunci: kurikulum merdeka, KKG PAK, kompetensi profesional guru

Abstract

 AbstrakTujuan penelitian yang ingin dicapai adalah untuk mengetahui Peranan Supervisi Pendidikan Dalam Meningkatkan Kualitas Pendidikan Agama Kristen di SMA Negeri (SMAN) 1 Air Batu- Kab. Asahan- Sumatera Utara, Indonesia. Untuk mengetahui Pelaksanaan Supervisi Untuk mengetahui Kualitas Pendidikan Agama Kristen di SMAN 1 Air Batu. Metode penelitian yang digunakan ialah analisis deskriptif kualitatif dan presentase, yaitu suatu penenlitian yang menggambarkan kenyataan atau fakta sesuai dengan data yang diperoleh untuk mengetahui peningkatan kualitas pendidikan agama Kristen pada sekolah tersebut. Hasil penelitian yang diperoleh bahwasanya Peranan Supervisi Pendidikan dalam meingkatkan Kualitas Pendidikan Agama Kristen di SMAN 1 Air Batu melalui wawancara yang dilakukan peneliti secara langsung dengan kepala sekolah yang mengemukakan bahwa “Dengan adanya supervisi pendidikan yang dilakukan kepala sekolah atau supervisor dapat membantu membimbing guru dalam membentuk karakteristik, menyusun metode atau strategi pembelajaran. Intinya supervisi pendidikan bertujuan membina guru dalam meningkatkan mutu proses pembelajaran.” Dari hasil wawancara dengan  kepala sekolah dapat dikategori bahwa dengan adanya supervisi dapat membantu supervisor dengan mudah dalam memperbaiki dan mengoreksi setiap kekurangan yang ada agar dapat melihat sudah sejauh mana peningkatan kualitas pendidikan yang ada pada sekolah tersebut.

Abstract

Efektivitas Pelaksanaan Sekolah Minggu Online di Gereja Betlehem Oesapa Barat. Latar belakang dari penulisan artikel ini adalah untuk mencari tahu bagaimana keefektifan pelaksanaan sekolah minggu online. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui keefektifan pelaksanaan sekolah minggu online di gereja Betlehem Oesapa Barat. Metode penelitian yang dipakai dalam penulisan ini adalah penelitian kualitatif. Adapun yang dimaksud dengan penelitian kualitatif adalah prosedur penelitian yang menghasilkan data deskriptif. Penelitian ini dilakukan di GMIT Betlehem Oesapa Barat, yang menjadi subjek dari penelitian ini adalah 3 orang guru sekolah minggu. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah pengamatan, wawancara dan dokumentasi. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah pengumpulan data, reduksi data, display data dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pelaksanaan sekolah  minggu online yang dilakukan oleh anak-anak saat pandemi covid-19 di gereja Betlehem Oesapa Barat tidak efektif karena banyak anak-anak yang tidak mempunyai hp dan radio untuk mengikuti ibadah sekolah minggu, sekolah minggu yang diterapkan kurang menarik minat anak-anak  untuk mengikuti ibadah sekolah minggu,  kurangnya motivasi dari orang tua kepada anak-anak . Jadi, dalam pelaksanaan sekolah minggu yang diterapkan oleh badan pengurus sekolah minggu (PAR) tidak dapat dikatakan efektif. Sebab sekolah minggunya hanya melalui radio dan anak-anak tidak berinteraksi langsung dengan guru sekolah minggu dan teman-teman sehingga anak-anak acuh tak acuh dengan  ibadah sekolah minggu yang sudah disiapkan. Kesimpulannya guru sekolah minggu mengajak anak-anak yang tidak mempunyi hp dan radio untuk bergabung bersama dengan teman-teman lain yang mempunyai hp supaya anak-anak tidak bertumbuh sendiri tetapi merasakan sekolah minggu juga. Jangan hanya karena merasakan kehadiran sekolah minggu saja tetapi yang lebih penting adalah imannya.

Abstract

Pandemi mendorong dunia pendidikan untuk lebih memanfaatkan media teknologi, meskipun sebelumnya kontroversial, terutama untuk anak usia dini. Penelitian ini menggunakan teori hirarki kebutuhan A. Maslow untuk menganalisis pemanfaatan media teknologi dalam pendidikan anak usia dini. Hasilnya menunjukkan bahwa teori ini dapat mengidentifikasi sejauh mana media teknologi memenuhi kebutuhan anak pada setiap tingkatan hirarki. Melalui studi literatur, ditemukan bahwa media teknologi dapat efektif digunakan untuk memfasilitasi pembelajaran, interaksi sosial, dan pengembangan diri anak usia dini. Kesimpulannya, teori hirarki kebutuhan A. Maslow memberikan panduan berharga untuk memahami dan mengoptimalkan peran media teknologi dalam pendidikan anak usia dini, dengan memperhatikan kebutuhan anak pada setiap tingkatan hirarki kebutuhan.

Abstract

Abstract: This study aims to determine the factors affecting students' failures due to anxiety in learning English. It was conducted at Universitas Kristen Indonesia, Jakarta, within three months. This study was a descriptive qualitative study with a survey design. The study's respondents consisted of 98 from three parallel classes at UKI. The sampling method in this study uses the cluster sampling method. In this study, a set of questionnaires was used to collect the data. It is used to measure English language anxiety. It has three constructs: communication anxiety, fear of negative assessment, and anxiety in exams, and the English learning anxiety has four constructs: personal reason, teacher attitude, test situation, and teaching procedure. The finding of this study is that English language learners have moderately high speaking skills anxiety and that the level of English language anxiety of English language learners at UKI as a whole in the two English language skills, namely listening and speaking skills, reached a medium-high level. Then it is concluded that teachers emphasize compelling and diverse strategies and techniques of teaching English for English language skills, namely listening and speaking skills, to help reduce anxiety among students applying English.

Abstract

Abstract: This research is aimed at analyzing the integration of the cooperative learning model into English language learning, which was done at fostered elementary school of Simalungun University. The method of the study used was a quasi-experimental research method with a post-test-only control group design. The population of this study was all elementary school learners assisted by Simalungun University in Siantar City, with as many as 232 people. The research sample chosen was 70 learners, determined by using random sampling. The researcher used a lottery system to appoint the experimental and control classes. Based on the lottery system that was carried out, it was found that class IV of school X served as the experimental group and class IV Class Y as the control group. The instrument of the research was two sets of previously validated questionnaires. The data technique analysis used was statistical analysis. The result of the study is that the motivation and learning outcomes of learners following the NHT cooperative learning model were higher than learners following the conventional learning model. It is concluded that NHT cooperative learning model has a positive effect on increasing achievement motivation and English learning outcomes for learners of class IV at Y and X Schools both separately and simultaneously.Keywords: Cooperative learning; learning english; number head together
