Abstract

The high risk of accidents in elementary school environments requires physical education teachers to have emergency response competencies, including the ability to perform first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). However, most teachers have not received adequate training in this area. This community service activity aims to enhance the capacity of PE teachers through theoretical and practical training covering CPR, AED use, and the integration of safety protocols into physical education activities. The implementation method includes initial coordination with the school, a pretest, classroom and field training, demonstrations, a posttest, and evaluation using a Google Form-based questionnaire. The results of the activity showed a significant improvement in participants' competencies: 90% of teachers were more skilled in handling emergencies, 95% were able to integrate safety protocols into learning, and 100% obtained formal competencies in CPR skills. Additionally, 95% of teachers demonstrated improved support for the school's medical team system, and 90% were able to incorporate physical safety into the curriculum. These findings confirm the effectiveness of systematic and practical training in enhancing teachers' preparedness. In conclusion, strengthening teachers' competencies in school safety should be an integral part of education policy, and such training should be conducted regularly to ensure comprehensive student safety.

Abstract

The high risk of injury in Physical Education activities in primary schools is an important issue that requires special attention, especially since most teachers do not have adequate training in dealing with emergencies such as physical injuries, heart attacks or other risky situations. This problem is reinforced by the lack of integration of safety protocols in learning and the absence of standardized safety policies in many schools. This community service activity aims to increase the capacity of Physical Education teachers through first aid and school safety training. The methods used include coordination with stakeholders, preparation of materials, pretest, theoretical and practical training, posttest, and evaluation of results. The training is delivered through lectures, demonstrations, case studies, and field simulations designed to match the real situation in the school environment. The results showed significant improvements in teachers' understanding of basic life support (100%), integration of classroom safety protocols (95%), and ability to handle student injuries (95%). The training also improved teachers' preparedness in using AEDs and implementing emergency evacuation procedures. In conclusion, systematic and contextualized training proved effective in improving the competence of PJOK teachers in safety and emergency response aspects. In the future, sustainable training programs and integrated school safety policies are needed to ensure a safe, inclusive and responsive learning environment to the risks that may occur during physical activities at school.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze pacing strategies, the influence of the start reaction, and performance consistency of male athletes in sprint freestyle swimming events (50m and 100m) at the 2025 SEA Games. The research used a descriptive quantitative approach with a case study design. Secondary data were analyzed from the finals of both events, including final times, reaction times (RT), and split times. Descriptive and comparative statistical analyses were conducted to evaluate pacing patterns, the relationship between RT and final results, and the performance of athletes competing in both events. All athletes in the 100m event applied a positive split pattern, with an average speed decrease of 2.26 seconds in the second half. The start reaction did not significantly correlate with the final time in the 50m (r=0.15; p=0.71) or the 100m (r=0.45; p=0.26). Athletes competing in both events showed high ranking consistency. The age group <20 years tended to have a smaller pacing difference (2.16 seconds) compared to older athletes. Pacing strategies at the regional level are still dominated by the conventional approach (positive split). The main determinant of performance is not the start reaction, but pure swimming speed and technical efficiency.

Abstract

Background: Enhancing basketball player performance requires a clear understanding of effective movement techniques. This study aims to synthesize and analyze key biomechanical techniques that influence performance, based on a systematic review of recent research. Methods: Following PRISMA guidelines for systematic reviews and meta-analyses, a comprehensive literature search was conducted using the Scopus database. The search targeted studies published between January 2020 and December 2024 using the keywords “basketball” and “biomechanics.” After three stages of screening based on predefined inclusion and eligibility criteria, 13 articles were selected from an initial pool of 231 for in-depth analysis. Results: The selected studies provided comprehensive insights into the biomechanical variables affecting basketball performance. Participants included both male and female athletes, with some studies emphasizing external conditions such as fatigue as injury risk factors. Key biomechanical factors identified include knee inversion and rotational moments, ground reaction forces, ankle stability, lower-limb characteristics, midsole hardness, joint loading during landing, core activation and stability, joint angles, knee flexion velocity, dynamic balance, directional changes, and shoulder positioning. Conclusion: Player performance in basketball is influenced by multiple biomechanical elements, including movement efficiency, joint stability, muscular strength, and technical execution. External factors such as fatigue and footwear characteristics also play a significant role in injury prevention and performance optimization. These findings support the need for targeted, biomechanically informed training interventions in basketball.

Abstract

Background: Kabaddi is a physically demanding contact sport that exposes youth athletes to high biomechanical stress, often resulting in injury. While positional roles in Kabaddi differ in movement patterns and physical demands, their association with injury prevalence among adolescent players remains underexplored. Objectives: This study aimed to investigate the prevalence and distribution of musculoskeletal injuries among youth Kabaddi players in Indonesia and to examine whether playing position, age, and experience contribute to injury risk. Methods: A cross-sectional survey was conducted involving 161 youth Kabaddi players aged 11–18 years across five regions. Injury data from the past 12 months and past 7 days were collected using a modified Oslo Sports Trauma Research Centre (OSTRC) questionnaire. Descriptive statistics and one-way ANOVA were performed to analyse differences in injury patterns based on player demographics and positions (All-rounder, Defender, Raider). Results: The most commonly injured regions were the shoulders, neck, and back, with no statistically significant differences in injury prevalence across playing positions (p > 0.05). However, older athletes (15–18 years) showed a significantly higher number of injuries compared to younger players (p < 0.05). Raiders reported the highest mean playing experience, while all-rounders were the oldest group. Despite biomechanical differences between roles, injury patterns appeared to be uniformly distributed. Conclusions: Injury prevalence among youth Kabaddi players is high and not confined to specific playing positions. This indicates that sport-wide preventive strategies, emphasizing core stability, neuromuscular control, and fatigue management, may be more effective than role-specific interventions. Findings reinforce the importance of biomechanical screening and integrated injury surveillance in youth Kabaddi development programs.

Abstract

Abstract:This study aims to analyze the physical efficiency and performance of student athletes in the U-17 Asia Football Federation (AFF) matches based on position in the football game. A training approach that still prioritizes physicality in playing is a reason to look at the efficient use of physical capacity in improving the performance of student athletes in competitions. The method used in this research is quantitative analysis with research subjects consisting of 20 football student athletes who are members of the U-17 Indonesian National Football Team. The data collection process uses a GPS tracker and heart rate monitor, then efficiency ratios are calculated including Athlete Load (Player Load/meters), Heart rate/Meters) and student athlete performance efficiency values. Analysis was carried out using the Kruskal-Wallis test and Pearson correlation. The results of this study show firstly, there is no significant difference in the use of physical capacity and the performance of athletes in competitions, secondly, there is a very strong correlation between running distance and athlete load/PlayerLoad (r = 0.8115). Thirdly, athlete running distance has a weak correlation with the Player's Heart Rate (Heart rate/Meter) in improving game performance. The conclusion in this research is that the efficiency of using physical abilities in playing football, especially for the U-17 student national team this year, is influenced by individual playing character, not based on playing position in the match. It can be seen from the research results that the highest physiological and mechanical efficiency in playing comes from 3 different positions. The use of physical abilities must be in harmony with technical execution, tactical understanding and the ability to deal with pressure accompanied by making the right decisions in the match.
