Abstract

Background: Myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS) is a hematopoietic disorder characterized by cytopenia, dysplasia, and genetic abnormalities that can transform into acute myeloid leukemia. MDS cases generally occur in children and adults. This case report involves a 75-year-old elderly individual with no history of MDS or family illness. Purpose of the Study: This study serves as a reference for screening the nursing perspective of MDS in the elderly. Methods: This research is a descriptive case report of 1 case. Results: A 75-year-old elderly patient with 1 month of weakness and pallor, blood pressure of 140/90 mmHg with controlled hypertension for 1 year. Laboratory results showed correlation with MDS symptoms: leukopenia (leukocytes 2.85 x 10^3/µl), thrombocytopenia (platelets 1,000/µl), and anemia (Hb 4.3g/dl). Conclusions: Hematological data support the patient experiencing MDS. Additionally, the patient's exposure to pesticides for 40 years also strongly supports the occurrence of MDS as it is a triggering factor for MDS.

Abstract

Mental disorders are a growing public health concern, with emotional regulation playing a crucial role in maintaining psychological well-being. Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) is a structured intervention that combines mindfulness practices with cognitive therapy to enhance emotional regulation. This scoping review aims to analyze the effectiveness of MBCT in improving emotional regulation in adults and to identify the specific aspects most influenced by the intervention. Using the Arksey and O’Malley framework, a systematic search was conducted in the Scopus and Web of Science databases for studies published between 2015 and 2025. Four quantitative studies met the inclusion criteria. The findings show that MBCT improves several emotional regulation components, including impulse control, emotional awareness and clarity, acceptance of emotional responses, and reduction in rumination. These improvements contribute to better emotional stability and resilience among adults facing psychological distress. The review supports the use of MBCT as a comprehensive therapeutic approach that promotes adaptive emotional responses and long term mental health. MBCT has the potential to be implemented in both clinical and community mental health settings as a preventive and promotive strategy.

Abstract

Mojok.co is one of Indonesia’s online media outlets that covered the 2024 General Election with a distinctive use of satire in its reporting. The application of satire as a linguistic and rhetorical strategy remains uncommon among Indonesian news organizations. This study explores how Mojok.co employs satire as a news reporting strategy, focusing on its implementation, challenges, and underlying rationale. Guided by Nunuk Parwati’s (2020) framework of news strategy. This research adopts a qualitative case study approach involving observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation of Mojok.co’s editorial practices. Three key informants and one supporting informant participated in the study. The analysis centers on three main dimensions: issue selection, news writing, and news presentation. The findings reveal that Mojok.co implements a threefold strategy: (1) selecting socially relevant and trending issues and framing them from distinctive perspectives; (2) employing a balanced, non-aggressive satirical tone in its writing and headlines; and (3) enhancing media branding through consistent satirical language and visually engaging presentation. To address ethical and editorial challenges, Mojok.co applies a strict article curation process, particularly in its Terminal and Political Desk sections. The study concludes that Mojok.co’s use of satire functions not only as a stylistic choice but also as a deliberate strategic communication tool that strengthens its brand identity and differentiates it from other Indonesian online media. This research contributes to the limited scholarship on satire in Indonesian journalism by situating it within the context of strategic news production and media branding.

Abstract

The rapid development of Generation Z in the digital era poses significant challenges to the internalisation of religious values, thereby necessitating a holistic and adaptive model of Islamic education. This study aims to examine the role and contribution of the religious ecosystem of Islamic boarding schools (pesantren) and Islamic Religious Education (PAI) in shaping the religious character of Generation Z. Employing a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach, this study analyses 40 peer-reviewed articles published between 2017 and 2025 and retrieved from Google Scholar, Scopus, Web of Science, ERIC, and DOAJ. Data were analysed through a structured process of article selection, thematic categorisation, and comparative synthesis. The findings reveal that the religious ecosystem of Islamic boarding schools, when integrated with PAI, plays a strategic role in internalising values of faith, piety, and moral conduct through role modelling, religious habituation, and the cultivation of a sustainable religious culture. These findings highlight the capacity of pesantren to foster holistic religious character formation that addresses both spiritual and psychological dimensions of Generation Z. The study implies that Islamic boarding schools remain a relevant and effective model of religious character education capable of responding to the moral and psychological challenges faced by contemporary youth in the digital era.

Abstract

Cookies that are circulated in the community are generally made from wheat flour that is high in gluten. In addition, the high sugar content increases the risk of consumers to various metabolic diseases. Therefore, it is necessary to develop substituted cookie products and use natural ingredient extracts as natural additives that can improve the biological function of food so that cookies can be designed as functional foods in the future. This study aimed to determine the effect of substituting wheat flour with millet flour on cookies' acceptability, water, protein, and carbohydrate content. In this study, wheat flour raw materials were substituted using millet flour (50:50, 70:30, and 100:0). Butterfly pea flower extract was added to the cookie dough, and then proximate analysis and acceptance tests were carried out. The water content of substituted cookies was higher than the standard. The protein content of cookies substituted with millet flour is still by SNI standards. Meanwhile, the carbohydrate content per serving of substituted cookies is lower (51.78%) than standard cookies (70%). Meanwhile, the hedonic test showed that the substitution of millet flour (50:50) was still within the normal acceptance range according to SNI standards. Based on chemical content tests and acceptance tests, it is known that the substitution of millet flour with a composition of 50:50 still meets the biscuit criteria based on SNI.

The rapid development of digital technology has created a new space for social interaction that raises significant ethical and moral challenges. Phenomena such as the spread of misinformation, hate speech, and irresponsible online behavior indicate a lack of ethical awareness in digital media use. This article aims to examine digital ethics from the perspective of Islamic Religious Education as an effort to build religious awareness in cyberspace. This study employs a qualitative approach through library research by analyzing primary and secondary sources, including the Qur’an, hadith, literature on Islamic Religious Education, Islamic ethics, and contemporary studies on digital ethics. Data were analyzed using descriptive-interpretative content analysis. The findings reveal that digital ethics in the perspective of Islamic Religious Education is grounded in religious values such as trustworthiness, honesty, proper conduct, responsibility, and awareness of divine supervision. These values play a crucial role in shaping ethical and moral digital behavior. Islamic Religious Education contributes strategically to fostering religious awareness in the digital sphere by internalizing faith-based values that encourage self-control and moral responsibility in digital activities.
