Abstract

This study aims to evaluatively examine the challenges of accessibility and amenities in the development of Curug Kedung Kudhu ecotourism attraction. Through a qualitative interpretive approach based on constructivist epistemological principles, the study seeks to uncover the complexities of obstacles encountered in transforming Curug Kedung Kudhu into an accessible and comfortable nature tourism destination for visitors. Primary data were collected through semi-structured interviews with purposively selected participants, analysis of institutional records, and triangulation of various data sources to ensure the research's credibility. The findings reveal three main themes representing challenges in accessibility and amenities: (1) inadequate infrastructure accessibility; (2) limited tourist amenities; and (3) suboptimal destination governance. This research highlights the complexity of infrastructure, governance, and amenity barriers that need to be addressed holistically and collaboratively. The resulting policy recommendations emphasize the importance of multi-stakeholder collaboration, local community empowerment, and sustainable destination planning and management. By adopting a comprehensive community-based ecotourism approach, Curug Kedung Kudhu has the potential to become a model for the development of an inclusive and sustainable nature tourism destination that provides optimal benefits for local communities and environmental conservation.

Abstract

The rapid growth of Indonesia's tourism industry demands the availability of professional human resources with competencies that are in accordance with the needs of the world of work. In response to these challenges, the Indonesian College of Tourism Economics (STIEPARI) Semarang has established a strategic collaboration with Mahsa University Malaysia in implementing a community service program that focuses on improving student readiness through competency tests and curriculum alignment based on industry needs. This program is carried out through a series of activities, including career development seminars, professional certification training, curriculum evaluation workshops, and direct visits to various tourism industry institutions. This approach aims to strengthen students' practical skills, increase confidence, and encourage active involvement in the practice-based learning process. The results of the activity showed a significant increase in students' readiness to face the world of work, both from technical aspects and soft skills. The curriculum is evaluated and harmonized to become more relevant, flexible, and responsive to the dynamics of the global tourism industry. In addition, this program strengthens the implementation of the Independent Learning-Independent Campus (MBKM) policy by providing space for students to learn directly from the world of work and build professional networks. The implications of this activity are not only improving the quality of graduates, but also strengthening the position of higher education institutions in building sustainable international partnerships. This cross-country collaboration is a model for the development of tourism education that is adaptive, innovative, and oriented to industry needs, while supporting national competitiveness in the tourism sector.

Abstract

Kata Kunci: Agrowisata; Anggur Brazil; Wisata Edukasi; Ekonomi LokalAbstractThis research explores the development of Agrowisata Anggur Brazil Gentar in Teja Village, Majalengka, as an educational tourism innovation based on a rare commodity with strong potential for local economic empowerment. Using a qualitative approach, data were gathered through interviews, field observations, and document analysis involving managers, farmers, village officials, and community leaders. The findings highlight three main aspects. First, Brazilian grape, with its unique cauliflory characteristic where fruits grow directly on the tree trunk, serves as a distinctive attraction rarely found in Indonesia. Second, several challenges remain, including climatic factors, pest disturbances, limited human resources, land tenure issues, and inadequate infrastructure. Third, optimization strategies call for collaboration among communities, managers, government, and private sectors through training, digital promotion, local product diversification, and integration with nearby destinations. These results indicate that the success of agritourism development relies not only on the uniqueness of the commodity but also on community participation and institutional support. With appropriate strategies, the Brazilian Grape Agritourism has the potential to become a sustainable model of educational tourism that contributes to inclusive local economic growth. Future studies are recommended to examine its longterm impact on community economic resilience and environmental conservation. Keywords: Agrotourism; Brazilian Grape; Educational Tourism; Local Economy

Abstract

This phenomenological study explores tourists' narratives and perceptions regarding the authenticity of experiences at Sukomakmur Agrotourism, Magelang, through an eco-spiritual lens. Agrotourism has evolved beyond agricultural education to encompass cultural, spiritual, and ecological dimensions, yet empirical studies on how tourists narrate authenticity in Indonesian agrotourism contexts remain limited. Using in-depth interviews with 15 tourists and participatory observation over three months (July-October 2025), the research employed interpretative phenomenological analysis to identify emerging patterns in tourists' authentic experiences. The research reveals that authenticity is interpreted through three interconnected dimensions: physical authenticity manifested through natural landscape and farming activities, cultural authenticity expressed through local wisdom and community interactions, and spiritual authenticity experienced through contemplative moments and transcendental connection with nature. Tourists describe experiencing profound connectedness, personal reflection, and transformative insights influenced by local wisdom and the religious-cultural milieu. The integration of eco-spiritual values significantly enhances tourist experience quality, creating memorable and meaningful encounters. The findings suggest that integrating eco-spiritual values can be a distinguishing element for sustainable agrotourism development, offering theoretical contributions to authenticity literature and practical guidance for destination management in creating transformative tourism experiences.
