Abstract

Multigrade teaching in the context of Hindu non-formal education in pasraman poses its own pedagogical challenges for acaryas, especially in managing students with diverse age levels and abilities in a single class. Studies on multigrade learning practices in Hindu religious education institutions are still relatively limited, especially in the context of pasraman in the West Lombok region. Therefore, this study aims to examine and analyse the multigrade learning practices applied by acaryas in pasramans in West Lombok Regency. This study uses a qualitative, narrative-descriptive approach to examine multigrade learning in pasraman in depth. Research data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The collected data is analysed through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, data verification, and the coding and categorisation process to identify research themes. The results of the study show that learning planning in pasraman tends to be flexible and simple, even in some cases without formal learning administration. This condition requires students to rely on pedagogical intuition to adjust the material, methods, and learning difficulty to the diverse student population. In learning practice, acarya utilises various methods, such as lectures, dharmatula discussions, peer tutors, the Dharma Gita, hands-on practice, and educational games. These findings show that the success of multigrade learning in pasraman is greatly influenced by acarya professionals’ ability to improvise in managing learning dynamics.

Abstract

The development of religious and moral values in children is an important aspect in Early Childhood Education. Pratama Widyalaya Dharma Kumara, as the only Widyalaya in Mataram City, strives to organize education by emphasizing the cultivation of Hindu values. This study aims to comprehensively analyze how religious and moral values are internalized from an early age and how they contribute to the formation of children's character. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation studies, then analyzed using the Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña model. The results of the study show that the cultivation of religious and moral values in Pratama Widyalaya Dharma Kumara is carried out through various activities, namely Tri Sandhya together, prayer before meals, learning activities, and going home, Purnama-Tilem worship together, and prayer at the temple (outing class). The development of religious and moral values in children is evident in behavioral changes, such as the habit of saying "Om Swastyastu", responding to instructions, paying closer attention to the teacher's directions, praying before activities, speaking more politely, and showing concern for the surrounding environment. This research emphasizes the importance of internalizing religious and moral values in Early Childhood Education and the need to strengthen their implementation in other Early Childhood Education institutions. However, because the study was limited to a single location and a small number of subjects, follow-up research with a broader scope is urgently needed to yield more comprehensive results.

Abstract

The Teba Modern program represents a culturally based approach to organic waste management that integrates Balinese local wisdom with environmental education. This study aims to analyze the implementation of Teba Modern in strengthening students’ environmental care character at SD Negeri 2 Celuk Sukawati from the perspective of Tri Hita Karana. A descriptive qualitative method was employed to explore the implementation process, students’ behavioral changes, and the educational values embedded in the program. The findings indicate that Teba Modern contributes positively to the development of students’ environmental responsibility and daily clean-living habits. The values of Tri Hita Karana—Parahyangan, Pawongan, and Palemahan—are reflected through students’ spiritual awareness, social responsibility, and care for the environment. The program not only supports school cleanliness and sustainable waste management but also strengthens character education aligned with the 7 Habits of Great Indonesian Children and the Eight Graduate Profiles. This study highlights the contribution of local wisdom-based environmental programs in integrating ecological awareness with character education in elementary schools.

Abstract

Libraries are the heart of academic activities at every level of educational units, including in universities. The library of the Gde Pudja State Hindu Institute of Mataram is a facility used to increase reading interest, but minimal visits result in a decrease in students' interest in reading. This research uses a qualitative approach or classified as descriptive research. This research was carried out at the Library of the State Hindu Institute of Gde Pudja Mataram. Starting from participant observation, structured interviews, to data processing and preparation with a total of 5 informants. The purpose of this study is to conduct an analysis related to optimizing the role of libraries in an effort to increase students' reading interest at the Gde Pudja Mataram State Hindu Religious Institute so that students will have a high level of reading interest. This study uses a descriptive qualitative method with observational techniques and structured interviews. The results of the study indicate that factors such as the availability of varied reading materials, comfortable library environmental conditions, and interactive and interesting activities have a direct influence on students' interest in reading. Therefore, it is necessary to take strategic steps to update the collection, improve facilities, and hold activities that can attract the attention of students. This study concludes that library optimization can improve students' reading culture, thereby encouraging their academic and intellectual development. By overcoming these challenges, libraries can transform into dynamic and relevant learning centers in the digital era
