Abstract

The large number of workers in the scope of Domestic Workers should receive more attention. Domestic Workers should be included in formal sector workers who are protected by the provisions of the law. The living and working situations of domestic workers do not reflect workers at all. Domestic workers in carrying out their work are included in jobs that do not have legal norms like formal workers regulated in the UUK so that their rights as workers are neglected. There are no special regulations on domestic workers so that it is considered necessary to protect domestic workers and make regulations on the protection of domestic workers as the basis for Permenaker Number 2 of 2015 concerning the Protection of Domestic Workers. The research method uses normative legal research. The results of the study show that the government issued Permenaker No. 2 of 2015 concerning the Protection of Domestic Workers. But the regulation still has shortcomings. Minister of Manpower Regulation Number 2 of 2015 has included the rights of domestic workers in Article 7 and the obligations of domestic workers in Article 8. In addition, Article 5 of this regulation also stipulates that the parties must reach a written or verbal agreement, which reads "Employers and domestic workers are required to make a written or verbal work agreement that contains rights and obligations and can be understood by both parties and is known by the head of the Neighborhood Association or by another name". Basically, the existence of domestic workers in working is not much different from other workers. Domestic workers should be treated the same as other workers. Various civil rights of workers which are basic rights of workers (normative rights, such as wage protection, working hours, holiday allowances, social security for workers, compensation for termination of employment and rest/leave rights) apply to workers in general and should be applied to domestic workers.

Abstract

The government, local governments, and other state institutions have the obligation and responsibility to provide special protection to child victims of sexual violence. Therefore, it is very interesting and important to further study how the regulation of sexual violence against children in Indonesian criminal law? And how to handle sexual violence against children? To answer these problems, a normative legal research method is used with a statutory and conceptual approach method. Data obtained from primary, secondary, and tertiary legal sources are collected and then analyzed using qualitative data analysis techniques. The results of the study showed that the form of child protection against sexual violence in Indonesia has been regulated in positive legislation. The form of legal protection provided starts from preventing acts of sexual violence against children, protection for child victims of sexual violence and protection for children who are in conflict with the law (child perpetrators) of sexual violence. The form of legal protection for children in Law No. 17 of 2016 is by providing children's rights. The rights of children as victims to the fulfillment of the right to obtain health services and social security according to physical, mental, spiritual, and social needs. On that basis, this handling effort has been mandated by law, not only as a task for the state and government, but more broadly, where the state must provide protection responsibility for children and the entire community regarding the right to obtain health services and social security according to physical, mental, spiritual, and social needs as an effort to restore the condition of children as victims of sexual violence who have long-term trauma.

Abstract

Background The variable response to chemotherapy in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) necessitates accessible biomarkers for prognostic stratification. The platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (PLR), a marker of systemic inflammation, is a promising candidate. This study evaluates the predictive value of pre-treatment PLR for chemotherapy response in an Indonesian NSCLC cohort, a population underrepresented in biomarker research. Methods: A retrospective cohort study was conducted on 59 adult patients with advanced-stage NSCLC at Dr. Mohammad Hoesin General Hospital, Palembang, Indonesia. Patients receiving first-line platinum-based chemotherapy were included. The association between baseline hematological markers and chemotherapy response (Partial Response [PR], Stable Disease [SD], Progressive Disease [PD]) was analyzed using the Kruskal-Wallis test, with Dunn's test for post-hoc comparisons. Receiver Operating Characteristic (ROC) curve analysis was used to determine the predictive accuracy and an optimal cut-off value for PLR. Results: Statistically significant differences in median PLR were found across all response groups (p-value <0.0001). Post-hoc analysis confirmed a graded response, with the PLR of the PD group being significantly higher than that of both the SD and PR groups. ROC analysis demonstrated good predictive accuracy for PLR in discriminating responders (PR) from non-responders (SD+PD), yielding an Area Under the Curve (AUC) of 0.86. A PLR cut-off of 185 was identified, showing high sensitivity and specificity. Conclusion: In this cohort, pre-treatment PLR was a statistically robust predictor of chemotherapy response, with a clear dose-response relationship and good predictive accuracy. PLR reflects the crucial balance between tumor-driven inflammation and host immunity, and its elevation signals a biological state that is resistant to standard chemotherapy. This simple, inexpensive biomarker holds considerable potential as a component of a multi-faceted prognostic model for NSCLC.

Abstract

Abstract

This study was conducted on the basis that a company's media relations ideally maintain good communication with the media. The SDGs that the company does are important things that the company needs to convey to the media. The purpose of this study is to identify what SDGs messages are covered by media in Indonesia. Indonesia became one of the countries that contributed and committed to the implementation of the SDGs program, which included private parties that became the focus of research through the SDGs coverage conducted by PT Astra International Tbk which always involved the role of the media. The concepts used in this study were those proposed by Cangara, namely communication strategies with 3 main dimensions, planning, implementation and evaluation and completeness of news content with 5W1H main dimensions. This study used a qualitative approach with content analysis methods. The results of this study suggest that the media tends to be incompletely reporting activities about SDGs. Only 28% of news corresponds to the concept of communication strategy and only 27% of news corresponds to the concept of completeness of news content. For the media involved in the coverage of SDGs activities carried out by PT Astra International Tbk, it must be complete in news writing consisting of planning, implementation, evaluation, and complete with 5W1H. If incomplete, it is feared that it can have an impact on the appearance of public perceptions that are not intact in understanding SDGs' activities. Media relations companies should be careful in choosing media with high credibility. Comprehensive media is one of the most credible media for the company. This study has the limitation of using only a qualitative approach, it is hoped that subsequent studies will use a quantitative approach with regard to the elements present in this study.

Abstract

Background: Atherosclerosis remains a leading cause of mortality in aging populations, driven by a complex interplay of metabolic and inflammatory factors. While dyslipidemia is a cornerstone of risk, the contributions of systemic inflammation, marked by high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hsCRP), and declining renal function are increasingly recognized. This study aimed to elucidate the independent associations of hsCRP, dyslipidemia, and renal function with the presence of carotid atherosclerosis in an understudied elderly Indonesian population. Methods: We conducted a single-center, case-control study at a tertiary hospital in Palembang, Indonesia, from January to June 2024. One hundred participants aged ≥60 years were enrolled from the geriatric outpatient clinic. Cases were defined by the presence of carotid plaque, identified via B-mode Doppler ultrasound, and defined according to international consensus criteria. Controls had no evidence of plaque. We performed multivariate logistic regression to identify independent predictors of atherosclerosis, including hsCRP, lipid parameters, and estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR). Results: After multivariable adjustment, three factors emerged as significant, independent predictors of carotid atherosclerosis. High total cholesterol (≥200 mg/dL) was the most powerful predictor, associated with a more than seven-fold increased odds of plaque (Adjusted Odds Ratio [aOR]: 7.38; 95% Confidence Interval [CI]: 2.87–18.94; p<0.001). Elevated hsCRP (≥2 mg/L) (aOR: 3.38; 95% CI: 1.33–8.59; p=0.005) and abnormal eGFR (≤90 mL/min/1.73m²) (aOR: 3.36; 95% CI: 1.10–10.22; p<0.001) were also robustly associated with atherosclerosis, each conferring over a three-fold increase in odds. Conclusion: In this elderly Indonesian study, dyslipidemia remains a dominant risk factor for carotid atherosclerosis. However, systemic inflammation (high hsCRP) and mild renal dysfunction (abnormal eGFR) are also powerful, independent contributors. These findings highlight the multifactorial nature of atherosclerosis and underscore the importance of a comprehensive risk assessment that extends beyond traditional lipid profiling to include markers of inflammation and renal health.
