Abstract

Abstract This research explores the strategic evaluation of geodefense-based defense policies in addressing contemporary military threats within the evolving geopolitical landscape. Against the backdrop of increasing geopolitical tensions and diverse security challenges, this study aims to assess the effectiveness and efficiency of geodefense strategies in enhancing national security resilience. Utilizing qualitative research methods, secondary data from academic sources, government reports, and defense policy documents are analyzed to examine three main components: the geopolitical landscape and military threats, geodefense-based defense policies, and the development of a strategic evaluation framework. Findings reveal dynamic shifts in power dynamics, regional conflicts, and emerging security threats shaping the contemporary security environment. Geodefense-based defense policies are observed to prioritize strategic depth, geographic intelligence, and interagency coordination to mitigate security risks. Moreover, the development of a structured strategic evaluation framework facilitates comprehensive assessment and adaptation of defense strategies to evolving threats and challenges. This research underscores the importance of integrating geographic considerations, intelligence capabilities, and stakeholder collaboration in effective defense planning and strategy formulation.

Abstract

AbstractIslamophobia is a phenomenon that refers to negative attitudes, silence, and anxiety toward Muslims and their way of life. This research investigates how Islamophobia impacts national security and the manifestations of this phenomenon in local and international communities. Islamophobia, fuelled by fear, ignorance, and media propaganda, leads to the ostracism and alienation of Muslims; Hence being isolated from an integral part of society which cannot contribute to the welfare of the nation. The implications of Islamophobia for national security go beyond a direct threat to public safety. This has far-reaching consequences for various aspects of society, including economic, educational, and immigration policies. Islamophobia threatens to undermine fundamental freedoms, such as freedom of religion and speech, and the right to a fair trial. It also threatens to damage international relations, particularly with Muslim-majority countries, and damage America's reputation on the world stage.Islamophobia has significant implications for national security, and the consequences are most effectively tackled by promoting education, dialogue, and mutual understanding. Government officials, law enforcement agencies, and the media must acknowledge the impact of Islamophobic rhetoric and policies and take steps to build bridges and promote tolerance and diversity. Embracing inclusion and multiculturalism can help promote a shared sense of national identity and promote greater harmony and cohesion in society. Keywords: islam, islamophobia, muslims, national security, radicalization

Abstract

Abstract The Muslim Travel Ban, enacted through Executive Order 13769 in 2017, marked a controversial shift in U.S. foreign policy by restricting entry from several predominantly Muslim countries. This study aims to explore the broader foreign policy implications of the ban, focusing on its effects on diplomatic relations, key legal and human rights challenges, and its impact on U.S. national security and international reputation. Utilizing qualitative research methods and secondary data, including court cases, human rights reports, and expert analyses, the research uncovers significant findings. The ban strained diplomatic relations with the affected countries, fostering distrust and disrupting bilateral cooperation. It raised critical legal and human rights issues, highlighting constitutional challenges and violations of non-discrimination principles. Additionally, the ban's impact on national security is debated, with arguments that it may have exacerbated security threats by fostering anti-American sentiment. The rescission of the ban under the Biden administration has been positively received, signaling a recommitment to inclusivity and human rights. The study concludes that the Muslim Travel Ban had complex and far-reaching consequences for U.S. foreign policy, necessitating ongoing efforts to repair diplomatic ties and uphold human rights standards. Abstract

Abstract

In the digital age, data security and privacy are paramount for modern governments, which are facing increasing cyber threats that impact operations and public trust. This research aims to explore the challenges and strategies in managing data security and privacy, focusing on three key areas: the impact of cyberattacks on governmental operations and public trust, the effectiveness of current data protection regulations and cybersecurity measures, and balancing transparency with data security in open data initiatives. Using qualitative research methods and secondary data analysis, the study examines recent high-profile incidents, such as the SolarWinds hack, and evaluates regulatory frameworks such as the GDPR. The findings highlight that cyberattacks disrupt government functions and undermine public trust, while compliance and enforcement challenges undermine the efficacy of data protection measures. Furthermore, successful strategies for balancing transparency and data security include robust anonymization techniques and stringent access controls. The study concludes that continuous evaluation and adaptation of data security policies are essential for mitigating risks and restoring public confidence. Abstract

Since Indonesia gained independence in 1945, security dynamics have been intricately linked with conflict. The emergence of separatist movements, such as the Free Papua Movement or Free Papua Organization (Organisasi Papua Merdeka or OPM), has significantly disrupted Indonesia’s stability. This study aims to analyze the actions undertaken by OPM in their quest for independence, utilizing the perspective of the Montevideo Convention of 1933. Employing a qualitative descriptive research methodology, this research relies on secondary data from a literature review focused on the Papua region. The study reveals several key findings: The size and stability of a population are critical factors for the existence of a state. West Papua, with a population of 1.15 million, plays a pivotal role. The establishment of well-defined territories is crucial for distinguishing and representing nations. The proposed establishment of the Republic of West Papua has garnered support and recognition from nations like Vanuatu. Moreover, the Republic of West Papua actively engages in international organizations such as UNPO. Establishing and exercising effective government control over a nation’s territory is essential for asserting sovereignty and maintaining independence. This is exemplified by the Papua National Manifesto and the declaration of Papua’s independence in 1961. Building and maintaining relationships with other countries necessitate active participation in the global community. International recognition and support play pivotal roles in achieving long-term political goals. Challenges related to democracy, human rights, and environmental issues pose significant hurdles to Indonesia’s diplomatic relations. The Responsibility to Protect (R2P) principle offers a framework for preventing mass atrocities and holding state actors accountable for crimes against humanity. International cooperation and dialogue are imperative in addressing these complex issues and safeguarding the well-being of affected populations.
