Abstract

This study aims to educate character in overcoming the moral crisis of grade X students at SMA Brigjend Katamso 1 Medan, considering that many students have a crisis of good character and morals. The method used in this study is to cultivate moral and religious values to students. So that the younger generation is able to understand their shortcomings and strengths as a source of grace from God that must be grateful. With this method can create an attitude of confidence, decrease violations of social rules that apply in society, the younger generation is able to show logical and creative thinking. In today's world of education, character education in overcoming students' moral crisis has begun to decrease. It can be proven by the number of students who lack respect, respect, and are not polite to people around them, especially in the school environment. This is due to the underestimation and non-compliance with applicable regulations in the school environment and also caused by the influence of the surrounding environment such as digital lifestyle, both from home, and also from friends. The digital era not only has a positive impact, but also a negative impact. For this reason, those who must play an active role in preventing a moral crisis of students like this are parents, especially and also teachers who teach in their schools. So that by preventing this student moral crisis, it can slowly realize character education in overcoming the moral crisis of students in class X at SMA Brigjend Katamso 1 Medan.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the role of PPKn teachers in the formation of student discipline at SMA Negeri 2 Binjai. This research uses qualitative research with a descriptive approach. The subjects in the study were all PPKn teachers and students who violated discipline at SMA Negeri 2 Binjai. Data collection techniques used include observation, interviews and documentation. The data analysis techniques are by reducing data, presenting data and verifying data. The results of this study show that the role of PPKn teachers in the formation of student discipline at SMA Negeri 2 Binjai, by improving discipline so that students do not commit violations, rules, and providing an understanding of discipline. As for the exemplary forms of PPKn teachers in fostering student discipline at SMA Negeri 2 Binjai, by setting good examples such as teachers must be disciplined, teachers must be responsible and teachers must be authoritative.

Abstract

This research aims to find out the thoughts of one of the intellectual figures and cultural activists from North Sumatra, namely: Tengku Lukman Sinar Basarshah II, Malay Historian and Culturalist. These are the two identities attached to Tengku Luckman Sinar, SH, Sultan of Traditional Affairs of the Malay Sultanate of Serdang State who holds the title Tuanku Luckman Sinar Basarshah II, SH These two identities are very clearly visible in his various writings, thoughts and activities. So it is appropriate that a series of achievements and various awards fill the pages of his life story. This research uses qualitative methods. Neuman (2000) wrote that the qualitative research process begins with topic selection. After the topic has been narrowed down, it is continued by examining the topic in scientific books or journals, known as literature or library research. Reading results from scientific books and journals will provide a clearer picture of how the topic was discussed and understood by previous writers or researchers. Contemplating Tuanku Luckman Sinar Basarshah II's thoughts is a reflection on the existence of Malay Culture itself. Going through various activities, including cultural themes, academics (teaching lectures), and writing, is an illustration of the greatness of his thinking. When Tuanku Luckman Sinar Basarshah II rose to become the Traditional Head of the Serdang Sultanate, attention and thought about Malay Arts was still maintained. In fact, his attention to the field of Malay Arts was also developed to a broader level, namely Malay Culture. The traditional institution finally became a forum for Tuanku Luckman to ensure that the existence of Malay culture was maintained. At its peak, Tuanku Luckman Sinar Basarshah II played the role of gatekeeper of Malay culture from foreign cultural invasions that came and went.

Abstract

This study aims to explain the implementation of multicultural education in history lessons focusing on Islamic material for students at SMA Negeri 11 Medan. The research method used is qualitative with a case study approach. Information was collected through classroom observations, interviews with history teachers, and document analysis. The participants of the study were history teachers and eleventh-grade students at SMA Negeri 11 Medan. The results showed that the implementation of multicultural education in history lessons on Islamic material for students at SMA Negeri 11 Medan was carried out well. History teachers employed various approaches and strategies that consider the diversity of students. They explored diverse sources of Islamic history and used discussion methods, group assignments, and field activities to enhance students' understanding of Islamic history.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to understand how the values of local wisdom are implemented in history education. Additionally, it aims to explore how character education based on local wisdom is applied. This is because the research problems are related to the implementation of local wisdom values in history education and character education based on local wisdom. The method used in this research is qualitative. Thus, it can be concluded that the learning model is a teaching technique used by teachers to teach a specific subject matter, and the selection of a model must be adjusted to the lesson material first. In relation to the sequence of material presentation, the values of local wisdom can also be applied in the models used by lecturers. Local wisdom is an integral part of a society's culture and cannot be separated from the language of that society. One of the issues that needs attention in the current era of globalization is the issue of nationalism. The purpose of writing this article is to help teachers apply or implement elements of local wisdom.

Abstract

The objectives of this research include the importance of developing effective and interesting history learning methods as well as the need to understand the impact of history learning outside the classroom, especially in museums. In this approach, this research discusses the concept of historical literacy and its benefits in the context of history learning. This research uses data collection techniques involving surveys, observations, and interviews with class x students, teachers, and museum staff. The research results reveal a number of challenges faced in implementing outing class-based history learning, such as a lack of resources and limited time. However, this research also identified its benefits in increasing students' understanding of history and motivating them to study more deeply. The results of this research can provide guidance for educators and policy makers in developing more varied and interesting history learning methods. In addition, this research highlights the role of museums in history education and the importance of utilizing cultural and historical resources in the surrounding environment to increase students' historical understanding. The "outing class" based learning method at the North Sumatra State Museum has great potential in enriching history learning in high schools.

Abstract

An introduction to history in Indonesia may be familiar. Historical relics and other phenomenal stories can provide important lessons in history. Researchers conducted research at State High School (SMAN 1) 11 Medan. This research explores the use of the historical heritage of the city of Medan in history learning at SMA Negeri 11 Medan. The city of Medan, as a rich historical and cultural center, has a historical heritage that can enrich students' learning experiences. This research aims to identify the potential for using these historical relics in the school history curriculum, as well as analyzing their impact on students' historical understanding and interests. Through this approach, it is hoped that history learning at SMA Negeri 11 Medan can become more interesting and relevant, as well as provide a deeper understanding of local history. The results of this research can provide insight and guidance for educators to improve history teaching in the school environment. Researchers also see that there is an important role in knowing integrity and success through learning history so that students will feel more capable of understanding the genealogy of a region based on its historical sequence. It is hoped that through this research, both researchers and readers will love and appreciate the history of Medan City more through learning history at SMAN 11 Medan.

Abstract

Historical awareness is one of the historical thinking skills that students must have. Historical awareness is related to the identity of a nation related to the past. This research aims to determine the effectiveness of interactive E-Poster media in increasing students' historical awareness. This research uses the Pretest-Posttest Control Group experimental method, consisting of an experimental and control group. The sample consisted of 50 class XII high school students selected using a random sampling technique. The data instruments used are the results of pretests and posttests carried out by students. This research indicates a significant difference in students' historical awareness before and after using the E-Poster learning media. The T-test results show a significance value of 0.000, less than 0.005, with the conclusion that the use of interactive e-posters has an influence on students' historical awareness. This increase can be seen in the N-Gain test results, which show a score of 0.75 or 75 percent, assuming an increase in students' historical awareness using e-poster media by 75 percent. This research concludes that using e-poster learning media is effective in history learning, especially in increasing students' historical awareness

Abstract

Multicultural education is becoming increasingly important in heterogeneous societies like Indonesia. One subject that has the potential to implement multicultural education is history, particularly when studying Islamic history. Indonesia is a region with diverse cultural backgrounds, often referred to as multicultural. This diversity is also present in the field of education. This research aims to explain or analyze history lessons with Islamic content to enhance awareness of multicultural education in SMA Negeri 11 Medan, specifically considering the cultural backgrounds of students who adhere to different religions, which can potentially trigger conflicts within a multicultural community. Therefore, multicultural education is expected to serve as a foundation for prioritizing tolerance in society, especially among students in schools. This research utilizes qualitative research methods with a case study approach to analyze how multicultural education is integrated into history lessons at school. This is related to the study of history, which explores the nature and habits of humanity over time. The connection between multicultural education and history education is valuable in fostering multicultural awareness and uniting various differences, enabling peaceful and harmonious coexistence, especially among students in schools. The research findings indicate that the analysis of multicultural education in history lessons with Islamic content at SMA Negeri 11 Medan has been conducted effectively. History researchers employ various approaches and strategies that consider the diversity of students. They explore diverse Islamic historical sources and utilize methods such as discussions, group assignments, and field activities to enhance students' understanding of Islamic history. Additionally, collaborative efforts between teachers, schools, and relevant stakeholders are necessary to create an inclusive learning environment that supports the diversity of students.

Abstract

The moral crisis faced by students today is a serious issue in the field of education. One strategy that can be used to address this problem is by integrating history education with character education in Madrasahs. This research aims to evaluate the role of history teachers in addressing students' ethical crisis through history education with character education in Madrasah Aliyah Tahfizhil Quran. The research method used is qualitative research with a case study approach. Data is collected through classroom observations, interviews with history teachers, and analysis of documents related to the history education and character education programs in Madrasah Aliyah Tahfizhil Quran. The data is then analyzed descriptively and interpretatively to obtain a comprehensive understanding of the role of history teachers in addressing students' ethical crisis. The research findings show that history teachers play an important role in addressing students' ethical crisis through history education with character education. History teachers not only convey historical facts but also build ethical awareness and promote positive values in students. They use interactive and contextual teaching methods and utilize historical sources that are relevant to the desired character values. In addition, Madrasah Aliyah Tahfizhil Quran has implemented an integrated character education program with history education. This program includes values such as honesty, cooperation, tolerance, and mutual respect. History teachers act as facilitators in guiding students to understand and internalize these character values through history education. Therefore, it can be concluded that the role of history teachers in addressing students' ethical crisis is crucial. Teachers are the main pillar of education in the world.
