Abstract

The sugar industry in Indonesia plays an important role in supporting national food security. Sugar factories as one of the vital sectors not only produce sugar for domestic consumption but also contribute to the local economy and the agricultural sector, especially sugar cane. Gempolkrep Sugar Factory, which has been operating since 1849, is one of the sugar factories that faces challenges in terms of increasing production yields, as seen from the stagnation of yields around 8% in the last 6 years. This study aims to analyse the condition of the sugar production process, identify the contribution of technology to production, and determine the priority of improvements needed at Gempolkrep Sugar Factory. The research methods used are descriptive method to describe the production process, technometric method to assess technology contribution, and AHP (Analytical Hierarchy Process) method to determine improvement priorities. The results of this study show that the sugar production process at Gempolkrep Sugar Factory consists of 7 stages, with the technology applied classified as semi-modern with a TCC value of 0.675. The main improvement priority that must be done is machine modernisation with an AHP score of 0.473 which is focused on improving the IoT-based monitoring system with an AHP score of 0.460. The conclusion from these results is that implementing improvements based on existing priorities will help increase production yields and produce more consistent sugar products.

Abstract

Agropolitan is one of the efforts to develop an economy based on the food crop subsector in Tulungagung Regency. The aims of this research are to describe the implementation of the agropolitan program in Tulungagung Regency and to analyze the impact of agropolitan development on the regional economy in Tulungagung Regency. This research applies a qualitative analysis method to analyze the impact of the implementation of the agropilitan program using shift share analysis. The results show that the implementation of the agropolitan program is running quite well, but its performance is quite slow. This is because the role of the agro-industry has not been well implemented. Efforts that need attention are fertilizer and alsintan assistance so that farmers receive the benefits of this program. PPLguidance is also very important to direct the optimal apply of fertilizers. The impact of agropolitan shows several indications of progress, which can be seen from the aggregate coefficient having a positive value of 3.08 and the differential component having a positive value of 1.29, meaning that the agricultural sector has competitiveness for the economy of Tulungagung Regency. The proportional differential calculation has a positive value, which indicates that the agricultural development program, namely agropolitan, is running well, as indicated by a value of 0.72. Lastly, the structural shift component, which has a positive value of 2.01, indicates that the agricultural sector is still a mainstay in labor absorption.

The analytical method used in this research uses the Location Quotient (LQ), Dynamic Location Quotient (DLQ), and Shift Share methods. From the LQ calculation, the agricultural sector is the base sector with an LQ value of 2.48. From the DLQ analysis, the agricultural sector experienced a change in performance to become a non-base sector or cannot be expected to become a basis in the future with a DLQ value of 0.261. The factor that causes changes in the performance of the non-agricultural sector is the economic structure factor with an SSS value greater than the LSS value.

Abstract

This study analyzes the technical efficiency of shallot farming in Nganjuk Regency. Stochastic Frontier analysis of 70 farmers showed that all input factors (land, seeds, labor, fertilizer, and pesticides) significantly influenced production. The average technical efficiency level of farmers was 0.78 (range 0.61-0.94), indicating an opportunity for a 22% increase in efficiency. Low efficiency is primarily due to limited managerial skills and suboptimal input use. Therefore, improvement strategies through managerial training, agricultural extension assistance, and technology adoption are key to achieving maximum productivity and creating a sustainable and highly competitive shallot farming business.

Abstract

Onion crop production has steadily increased year after year, although productivity remains variable. Inefficiency arises from the technically inefficient selection of production input factors. The research was aimed to 1) analyze how it impacts during the application of shallot production input factors, 2) determine the value of the technical efficiency of the application of production factors, and also 3) identify the variables which contribute the occurrence of inefficiencies during the production of shallot commodities. This research method was used the stochastic frontier, program 4.1. The sample number was 70 shallot farmers. Primary data is collected by observations, distributing questionnaires, and literature reviews. The result showed that land area and seeds had a considerable impact on technical efficiency, whereas labor, insecticides, and fertilizers had no significant impact. The total average of farmers was found to be technically efficient, with a score of 0.7328. While the varying age of the farmers had a considerable impact on technical inefficiency. The dummy variable of the farmer's occupation, along with the farmer's most recent education, had a negative impact on technical inefficiency. Abstract

Indonesia has great potential in seaweed exports, but its utilization was still not optimal due to various barriers in the trade system. This study aimed to analyze the development of Indonesian seaweed exports to seven main destination countries during 2013–2023, assess the condition of the trade facilitation index, and examine the influence of these variables on exports. The method used was a quantitative approach with a gravity model and panel data. The research results showed that the GDP of destination countries and the quality of trade and transport infrastructure had a positive and significant effect on Indonesia's seaweed exports. Conversely, Indonesia's GDP, logistics competence, and customs efficiency did not have a significant effect. The corruption perception index showed a significant negative effect on exports. These findings confirmed that external factors such as the purchasing power of destination countries and the quality of infrastructure had a major influence, while internal factors such as corruption were a major obstacle. Therefore, export enhancement strategies should be focused on trade governance reforms, strengthening export infrastructure, and developing markets in countries with high trade facilitation indices.
