Abstract

The agricultural sector is a strategic sector and has an important role in national economic development and community survival. Each region certainly has different natural resource potential. Batu City is one of the apple-producing areas in East Java Province. Over time, there was a decline in apple productivity, which caused farmers to decide to transfer the commodity. This study aims to analyze the phenomenon of switching farms, identify influencing factors, and analyze the effect of commodity transfer on farmers' income. The determination of the location of the study was carried out by simple random sampling. The sampling method used the Slovin formula, and the sample used in this study was 60 farmers. Logistic regression analysis was used to analyze the relationship between one or more independent variables with categorical dependent variables, and the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test is a method of non-parametric statistic that aims to determine whether or not there is a difference between 2 pairs of data on an ordinal or interval scale. The results showed that the impetus that made farmers switch commodities to oranges were: (1) climate, changes in market prices, changes in consumer tastes, decreased crop yields, decreased apple quality, pests and diseases of apple plants. (2) Factors that directly influence farmers' decision-making in transferring commodities are age, education, number of family dependents, farming experience, citrus farm income, and care/maintenance. (3) There is a significant difference between the income of farmers who farm apples and farmers who farm oranges. The average income of apple farmers is IDR 13,158,332/Year, while orange farmers have an average income of IDR 14,703,333/Year.

Abstract

The agricultural sector has a large contribution to the Indonesian economy, but rice farmers are still less prosperous. This condition raises questions about the economic conditions of farmers who have limited land, especially in Ngengor Village, Pilangkenceng District, Madiun Regency. The purpose of this study was to identify the expenditure patterns of farming households and analyze the factors that influence farming household expenditure. This study was conducted on 54 farming households using the simple random sampling method. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and multiple linear regression analysis. The results showed that the average household expenditure per year reached IDR 20,345,474, with a distribution between food needs (53.58%) and non-food (46.42%). Income, education level (elementary, junior high, and high school), and number of family members have a significant effect on household expenditure. Meanwhile, land area does not have a significant effect. The results of this study highlight the importance of income and education in the financial management strategy of farming households, as well as the importance of diversifying sources of income for small-scale farming households

Abstract

The sugar industry in Indonesia plays an important role in supporting national food security. Sugar factories as one of the vital sectors not only produce sugar for domestic consumption but also contribute to the local economy and the agricultural sector, especially sugar cane. Gempolkrep Sugar Factory, which has been operating since 1849, is one of the sugar factories that faces challenges in terms of increasing production yields, as seen from the stagnation of yields around 8% in the last 6 years. This study aims to analyse the condition of the sugar production process, identify the contribution of technology to production, and determine the priority of improvements needed at Gempolkrep Sugar Factory. The research methods used are descriptive method to describe the production process, technometric method to assess technology contribution, and AHP (Analytical Hierarchy Process) method to determine improvement priorities. The results of this study show that the sugar production process at Gempolkrep Sugar Factory consists of 7 stages, with the technology applied classified as semi-modern with a TCC value of 0.675. The main improvement priority that must be done is machine modernisation with an AHP score of 0.473 which is focused on improving the IoT-based monitoring system with an AHP score of 0.460. The conclusion from these results is that implementing improvements based on existing priorities will help increase production yields and produce more consistent sugar products.

Abstract

Agropolitan is one of the efforts to develop an economy based on the food crop subsector in Tulungagung Regency. The aims of this research are to describe the implementation of the agropolitan program in Tulungagung Regency and to analyze the impact of agropolitan development on the regional economy in Tulungagung Regency. This research applies a qualitative analysis method to analyze the impact of the implementation of the agropilitan program using shift share analysis. The results show that the implementation of the agropolitan program is running quite well, but its performance is quite slow. This is because the role of the agro-industry has not been well implemented. Efforts that need attention are fertilizer and alsintan assistance so that farmers receive the benefits of this program. PPLguidance is also very important to direct the optimal apply of fertilizers. The impact of agropolitan shows several indications of progress, which can be seen from the aggregate coefficient having a positive value of 3.08 and the differential component having a positive value of 1.29, meaning that the agricultural sector has competitiveness for the economy of Tulungagung Regency. The proportional differential calculation has a positive value, which indicates that the agricultural development program, namely agropolitan, is running well, as indicated by a value of 0.72. Lastly, the structural shift component, which has a positive value of 2.01, indicates that the agricultural sector is still a mainstay in labor absorption.

Abstract

This study analyzes the technical efficiency of shallot farming in Nganjuk Regency. Stochastic Frontier analysis of 70 farmers showed that all input factors (land, seeds, labor, fertilizer, and pesticides) significantly influenced production. The average technical efficiency level of farmers was 0.78 (range 0.61-0.94), indicating an opportunity for a 22% increase in efficiency. Low efficiency is primarily due to limited managerial skills and suboptimal input use. Therefore, improvement strategies through managerial training, agricultural extension assistance, and technology adoption are key to achieving maximum productivity and creating a sustainable and highly competitive shallot farming business.
