Abstract

This research focuses on British women who are represented in the film Pride and Prejudice directed by Joe Wright. This study uses a feminist literary approach. The qualitative-descriptive method is used as the basis of the research method. Based on the analysis conducted, it was found that the Representation of the British women in Pride and Prejudice movie is differences between British women and Elizabeth Bennet. Especially for characters, in British women intelligent cause education but in Elizabeth be brilliant because she loves to read very much and get knowledge from many sources.

Abstract

This research aims to find out about Korean traditional culture that is becoming popular culture in Korea today in BTS "Idol" video music. This research is qualitative - descriptive by using Stuart Hall's representation theory with cultural studies approach. The method of data collection used is literary research. The results of this study are; (1) Horangi (tiger), considered a holy creature that brings good luck and as a symbol of courage and strength, (2) Hanbook, modified traditional Korean clothes to become modern, (3) Paljak-jiboong, Korean traditional pavilion still in use for house roof design, (4) 'eolssu', Pansori and ggwaeng-gwari, traditional arts and musical instruments that are combined with the flow of modern music in the current Kpop song, (5) the habit of Yangban, a mild cough that indicates its existence still applied until now.

Abstract

This research analyze Representation of South Korean Pop Culture in Fashion K-Pop Idol. One of the trends in K-Pop idol is a fashion outfit and fashion brand. The purpose of this study is to describe the meaning and describe representation in fashion K-Pop idol. The scope of this study is cultural study by using semiotics in Charles Sanders Pierce theory. The limitation of this research in the picture, fashion, outfit, accessories and brand of K-Pop idol, which describe representation of south korean pop culture in fashion K-Pop idol. The theory on semiotics analysis is based on Charles Sander Pierce : sign –object-interpretant, or is called the triangle theory of meaning. The method of this research use of method analize a research design, data source, data collection method and data analysis method The result shows that Korean teenagers are considered to have their own uniqueness, which is different from the fashion styles that come from Western countries so that the uniqueness of Korean-style clothes is identical to the bright colors of clothes and can easily be combined with Asian body colors and skin., K-Pop idol fashion is indeed in great demand by many people, especially K-Popers, they even imitate all the styles that their idols wear from outfit to brands worn by their idol.

Abstract

Language phenomena often occur in schools, especially politeness. Politeness is about the principles that consider whether a speech can be said to be polite or impolite. This research analyzes the types of Bahasa Indonesia used by SMK Tamansiswa Vocational School teachers. This research implements the theory of politeness proposed by Leech which includes six maxims, namely the namely tact maxim, generosity maxim, approbation maxim, modesty maxim, agreement maxim, and sympathy maxim. The aim of this research is to reveal which maxims Bahasa Indonesian teachers use in the daily teaching process of the six maxims. The method used is descriptive qualitative, with data collection techniques through observation, and recording. After the classification process, four maxims were found, namely the generosity maxim, approbation maxim, agreement maxim, and sympathy maxim. The total data found is 49 data. The 49 data consist of generosity maxim 33 data, approbation maxim 4 data, agreement maxim 3 data, and sympathy maxim 3 data. The research results found four maxims which include the generosity maxim, approbation maxim, agreement maxim, and sympathy maxim. Apart from that, two maxims were found that were not used by teachers, namely tact maxim, and modesty maxim. The total data found was 49 data. It can be concluded that Indonesian language teachers, especially at Tamansiswa Vocational School, have succeeded in implementing Leech politeness.

Abstract

Language phenomena often occur in society, especially politeness. Politeness is about principle that considers whether an utterance can be said to be polite or impolite. Nowadays, politeness is a matter that must be implemented in both formal and non-formal environments, and one of them in the office environment. This study analyzes the types of polite language used by Staff Desa Sumbersuko. This research implements the politeness theory proposed by Leech which includes six maxims, namely tact maxim, generosity maxim, approbation maxim, modesty maxim, agreement maxim, and sympathy maxim. The purpose of this study is to reveal which maxim is used by the staff in serving the community every day from six maxim. The method used is descriptive qualitative to describe the phenomenon in the service room of Desa Sumbersuko. The instruments used to obtain the data were observation and recording. After the data is obtained, there are several steps to determine the data form, namely: (1) Selecting the data, (2) Classification the data based on categorize, (3) Describing the data, (3) Conclusion. The result of the study is 3 maxim were found including tact maxim, generosity maxim, and agreement maxim. In addition, 2 violations were found in the staff's speech, namely generosity maxim and sympathy maxim. The total data found is 33 data. The 33 data contain 9 data of tact maxim, 3 data of generosity maxim, 16 data of agreement maxim, 3 data of violation of generosity maxim and 2 data of violation of sympathy maxim. It can be concluded that the staff desa successfully implemented politeness by Leech in serving the community.

Abstract

Bawean language is identified as a hybrid language. Many languages influence the vocabulary of the Bawean language. At least, there are Madurese, Javanese, Malay, Buginese, etc. However, most of Bawean vocabulary are from Madurese. In its distribution to surroundings areas, Madurese is a language that is not easy to change its grammar. Even, it tends to influence the native local language of the people, as the Pandalungan Javanese that is used by the people in the north coast areas of East Java. There, the Grammar of Madurese influences much the Javanese, that is the native language of Javanese people. In other case, it occurs differently in Bawean language. Here, the language that most of the vocabulary comes from Madurese is influenced by the Javanese grammar. It makes the Bawean language different from the Madurese. By doing qualitative descriptive study that compares the significant grammar features of Madurese and Javanese that influence Bawean language, this study is conducted. The data are collected by using observation and interview method. Then, they are analyzed by the identity methods. The study finds that the Madurese Bawean is different from the native Madurese in terms of reduplication and affixation. Although most of the Bawean vocabulary come from Madurese, not all of the Madurese reduplication and affixation Javanese involve the Bawean ones. The Javanese also takes important part in the grammar of Bawean Madurese.

Abstract

This research analyzes the phenomenon of code mixing in digital interaction in Indonesia, focusing on comments on the "probolinggokita" Instagram account. Code mixing is a common occurrence in social media communication, where users combine various languages in a single message. Social media platforms like Instagram facilitate communication with diverse groups of people, where language use can significantly impact social interactions. This research analyzes the code mixing phenomenon by netizen in the comments column prewedding photo flares that caused fire in Bromo "@probolinggokita" on a post about the Bromo Mountain fire incident. The study focuses on identifying types of code-mixing based on Hoffmann's (1991) theory, which includes intra sentential, intra lexical, and involving change of pronunciation code mixing, and combines from each types. This research aims to provide new insights into sociolinguistic phenomena in Instagram comments and understand the factors influencing code mixing usage in social media contexts. This research aims to describe the forms of code mixing that appear in comments on the "probolinggokita" Instagram account. The method used is descriptive-qualitative, with data collection techniques through observation and recording. The data source consists of all comments containing code mixing on the account. Data were analyzed from 64 comments containing code mixing. The analysis results show that there are six significant code mixing patterns: Intra sentential Code Mixing 49 data, Intra lexical Code Mixing 4 data, Involving Change of Pronunciation 5 data, combination of Intra sentential and Intra lexical 2 data, combination of Intra sentential and Involving Change of Pronunciation 2 data, and combination of Intra lexical and Involving Change of Pronunciation 2 data.

Abstract

This research focuses on the symbolic meaning of the Oncaran tradition contained in the marriage ceremony of the Pendalungan Probolinggo community. This research is important to do, because research on the local culture of the Pendalungan Probolinggo people is still minimal. The theory used as a theoretical basis in the analysis is the theory of George Herbert Mead's Symbolic Interactionism model. The method used in this study is descriptive qualitative method. The choice of this method is due to the purpose of this study which seeks to describe the symbolic meaning contained in the Oncaran tradition at wedding ceremonies in the Pendalungan Probolinggo community. Based on the research conducted, it was found that for the people of Pendalungan Probolinggo, the Oncaran tradition has meaning as 1) a symbol of hybrid identity, and 2) a symbol of brotherly values ​​in the Pendalungan Probolinggo community.

Abstract

Pendalungan is a unique community. This uniqueness is caused by the hybrid cultural construction of the Pendalungan people. Therefore, it is relevant to carry out cultural research in the Pendalungan community. The object of this research is the Ajheru' Cabbih salvation tradition found in the Pendalungan Probolinggo community. The method used in this research is a descriptive qualitative method. Based on research conducted, it was found that Ajheru' Cabbih is the name of a ritual carried out by the Kedungrejo people before the first chili harvest. This ritual is meant to bring a successful harvest and blessings. The Ajheru' Cabbih tradition has been passed down from generation to generation and is characterized by various elements such as time, place, tools used, and the person who performs the ritual. Ajheru' Cabbih is not well known outside Kedungrejo, but this tradition still survives or has its existence to this day.

Abstract

This study undertakes a thorough bibliometric analysis to investigate how the body of research on the benefits of physical activity for improving wellbeing and quality of life is changing. The study examines authorship patterns, citation networks, theme clusters, and keyword co-occurrences using data from well-known databases in order to offer a comprehensive picture of the area. Important writers including DER Warburton, CE Garber, and WL Haskell have produced seminal works that serve as a basis for international principles and recommendations. The impact of physical activity on overall health to the impact of adolescent and mental health are just a few of the varied dimensions covered by thematic clusters in the research. Recurring themes are found by keyword co-occurrence analysis, one of which being the general impact of physical activity on life and quality. Unexplored topics, such how exercise affects diseases like multiple sclerosis and the COVID-19 pandemic's effects, indicate areas that warrant more study. The amalgamation of results provides significant perspectives for scholars, professionals, and decision-makers seeking to propel understanding and guide evidence-based solutions concerning physical activity and wellness.
