Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan materi ajar Bahasa Inggris berbasis budaya lokal dalam mendukung implementasi kurikulum 2013 untuk semester pertama kelas 7 sekolah menengah pertama di Kecamatan Buleleng. Penelitian ini dikembangkan berdasarkan model penilitian dan pengembangan dari Peffers dan kawan-kawan dalam Ellis dn Levy (2010) yang terdiri dari 6 tahap umum, yaitu: 1)mengidentifikasi masalah, 2) mendeskripsikan tujuan, 3)mendesain dan mengembangkan produk, 4)mengetes produk, 5)evaluasi produk, dan 6)mengkomunikasikan produk. Agar mendapatkan hasil produk yang maksimal, evaluasi produk dinilai oleh dua ahli untuk mengevaluasi kualitas dari isi, integrasi budaya lokal, dan presentasi dari materi Bahasa Inggris yang berbasis budaya lokal. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam mengevaluasi hasil produk ahli yang berupa checklist. Semua data yang terkumpul di analasis secara kuantitatif dan secara kualitatif. Hasil dari penelitian ini berupa Buku Bahasa Inggris berbasis budaya lokal dalam mendukung implementasi kurikulum 2013 untuk semester pertama kelas 7 sekolah menengah pertama di Kecamatan Buleleng. Buku ini terdiri dari 4 tema umum.Materi di desain secara cermat berdasarkan konteks budaya Bali. Konteks budaya Bali dalam buku ini diselipkan melalui gambar, dialog, dan kegiatan pembelajaran. Buku Bahasa Inggris berbasis budaya ini juga didesain berdasarkan karakteristik dari kualitas buku. Aspek tersebut dapat dilihat dari topik, aspek dari budaya lokal, dan presentasi buku yang didesain khusus untuk memenuhi kriteria kualitas sebuah buku dari Tomlinson (1998). Secara umum, para ahli menyatakan bahwa buku bahasa Inggris berbasis budaya lokal sudah menarik dan sesuai dengan kriteria yang disertakan.Kata Kunci : Kurikulum 2013, Materi Bahasa Inggris, materi Bahasa inggris berbasis budaya lokal This research aimed at developing culture based English learning material to support the implementation of curriculum 2013 for the first semester of grade seven junior high schools in Buleleng. This research was designed by utilizing an RnD model development proposed by Peffers et al in Ellis and Levy (2010). This model consisted of six general phases, such as: 1) identify the problem, 2) describe the objectives, 3) design and develop product, 4) test the product, 5) evaluate the product, 6)communicate the product. In order to reach the high qualified product, there were two experts evaluated the content of product, integration of local culture, and presentation of culture based English learning material in the form of English judgment form. All data were analyzed quantitatively and qualitatively. The result of this research was designed in the form of culture based English textbook to support the implementation of curriculum 2013 for the first semester of grade seven junior high schools in Buleleng. This textbook consisted of 4 topics. The material was designed carefully depends on Balinese culture context. The context of Balinese culture were integrated into pictures, dialogues, and learning activities. Culture based English textbook were also designed to meet the characteristic of good textbook by Tomlinson (1998). Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk (1) mengetahui tingkat motivasi siswa dalam belajar bahasa Inggris, (2) mengidentifikasi jenis motivasi yang siswa miliki dalam belajar bahasa Inggris, (3) menyelidiki alasan di balik siswa yang termotivasi dan yang tidak termotivasi dalam belajar bahasa Inggris di SMK N 1 Sukasada. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif dengan menggunakan analisis kualitatif dan kuantitatif. Subyek penelitian ini adalah siswa di SMK N 1 Sukasada dari kelas X dan XI . Sementara itu, objek penelitian ini adalah motivasi dalam belajar bahasa yaitu motivasi instrumental dan motivasi integratif. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa tingkat motivasi siswa berada di tingkat tinggi dan sedang. Jenis motivasi yang siswa miliki dalam belajar bahasa Inggris adalah motivasi instrumental dan integratif. Ada dua alasan mengapa siswa termotivasi dalam belajar bahasa Inggris. Alasannya adalah (1) untuk mendukung karir mereka di masa depan, dan (2) untuk berkomunikasi dengan wisatawan. Ada satu alasan utama mengapa siswa tidak termotivasi dalam belajar bahasa Inggris. Alasannya adalah karena bahasa Inggris sulit terutama dalam memahami arti kata-kata bahasa Inggris / kosa katanya.Kata Kunci : Motivasi, Motivasi Instrumental dan Integrative This study aimed at (1) finding out the levels of student’s motivation in learning English, (2) identifying the kinds of motivation that students have for learning English, (3) investigating the reasons behind motivated and unmotivated student in learning English in SMK N 1 Sukasada. This study was a descriptive study using qualitative and quantitative analysis. The subjects of this study were the students in SMK N 1 Sukasada from tenth to eleventh grade students. Meanwhile, the object of this study was motivation in language learning namely instrumental motivation and integrative motivation. The results of this study show that the levels of students’ motivation were in high and moderate level. The kinds of motivation that students have in learning English were instrumental and integrative motivation. There were two reasons why the students were motivated in learning English. The reasons were (1) to support their career in the future, and (2) to communicate with tourists. There was one main reason why the students were not motivated in learning English. The reason was because English is difficult especially in understanding the meaning of English words/vocabularies. keyword : Motivation, Instrumental and Integrative Motivation

Abstract

Abstrak Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui jenis-jenis gerakan dan fungsi gerakan tertentu dalam mengajar dan aktivitas belajar, terutama dalam tiga kegiatan domain, mereka adalah: kegiatan menyapa, kegiatan mengajar dan kegiatan Tanya jawab. Penelitian ini dilakukan di SMPN 2 Sawan. Penelitian ini adalah desain dengan menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif dimana data yang terkumpul dianalisis secara kualitatif. Ada enam instrumen untuk mengumpulkan data, mereka adalah: catatan lapangan, kamera, checklist pengamatan, pedoman wawancara, handphone dan peralatan menulis. Peneliti melakukan penelitian ini sampai studi jenuh atau tidak ada perubahan dari gerakan yang digunakan oleh guru bahasa Inggris. Teori didukung oleh gerakan guru bahasa Inggris yang digunakan di dalam kelas maka peneliti juga ingin mengetahui jenis gerakan dalam tiga kegiatan dan fungsi gesture tertentu dalam tiga kegiatan. Kata Kunci : Kata kunci : gerakan dan aktivitas belajar mengajar Bahasa inggris Abstract This study was aimed at finding out the kinds of gestures and the functions of certain gestures in teaching and learning activity, especially in three domain activities, those were: greeting, delivering and asking & answering activities. This study was conducted at SMPN 2 Sawan. This study was design by using qualitative descriptive approach in which the data collected were analyzed qualitatively. There were six instrument to collect the data, those were: field notes, camera, observation checklist, guidance interview, hand phone and writing equipment. The researcher conducted this study until the study stuck or there was no change of the gesture used by English teacher. The data were transcribed and analyzed to find out the kinds of gestures and the function of certain gestures. Based on the theory from McNeil (2005) there were four types of gesture, and each types had kind gestures. The theory supported by English teacher gestures used in the classroom then the researcher also wanted to find out the kind of gesture in three activities and function of certain gesture in three activities. keyword : Keywords: Gesture, English teaching and learning activities

Abstract

Desain dan pengembangan penelitian ini bertujuan untuk merancang dan mengembangkan elektronik media bahasa inggris berbasis budaya local Bali untuk mendukung pelaksanaan kurikulum 2013 untuk semester pertama kelas VII SMP di kecamatan Bulelelng. Penelitian ini difokuskan pada pengembangan e-media yang terintegrasi dengan budaya Bali. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah elektronik media bahasa inggris berbasis budaya Bali yang dikembangkan dengan menggunakan program Adobe Flash CS6. Sumber data diambil dari kebutuhan analisis yang dilakukan oleh Dewi dan Batan (2015), literatur terkait pada pengembangan e-media, dan hasil penilaian ahli. Data dianalisis secara deskriptif kualitatif dan kuantitatif. Penelitian ini dirancang berdasarkan Peffers, dkk (2007) yang terdiri dari enam fase yaitu:. (1) mengidentifikasi masalah, (2) menjelaskan tujuan, (3) merancang dan mengembangkan produk, ( 4) pengujian produk dengan menggunakan penilaian ahli, (5) mengevaluasi hasil pengujian, dan (6) mengkomunikasikan hasil pengujian. Hasil skor penilaian ahli 'menunjukkan bahwa total berarti skor 3,8 yang berarti e-media memiliki kualitas yang baik dan dapat digunakan dalam proses belajar mengajar bahasa Inggris untuk semester pertama kelas VII SMP di Buleleng.Kata Kunci : elektronik media, berbasis budaya, budaya Bali This design and development research aimed at designing and developing a culture-based English e-media to support the implementation of curriculum 2013 for the first semester of grade VII of junior high schools in Buleleng sub-district. This research focused on developing e-media that is integrated with Balinese culture. The object of this reseach was culture-based English e-media that was developed by using Adobe Flash CS6 program. The source of data was taken from the need analisys conducted by Dewi and Batan (2015), related literatures on developing the e-media, and the result of expert judgement. The data were analyzed descriptively both qualitatively and quantitatively. This research was designed based on the adaptation of peffers et al.’s model (2007) that consisted of six phases namely: (1) identifying the proble, (2) describing the objective, (3) designing and developing the product, (4) testing the product by using expert judgement, (5) evaluating the testing result, and (6) communicating the testing result. The result of experts’ judgement score showed that the total mean score 3.8 which means the e-media had a good quality and it can be used in teaching and learning English for the second semester of grade VII of junior high schools in Buleleng.keyword : E-media, Culture-based, Balinese culture

Abstract

The objectives of the research entitled “An Analysis of Students’ Grammatical Error In Writing Descriptive Text made by the Second Grade Students at SMP Negeri 2 Seririt” were: 1) to find out the grammatical error which are made by students in writing descriptive text, 2) to know the cause of grammatical errors which are made by students in writing descriptive text. The subjects of this study were all students in VIIIE at SMP Negeri 2 Seririt Academic Year 2015/2016. The data were obtained from collecting students’ writing task. The data were analyzed descriptively based on Dulay, Burt, Krashen’s theory. The result of this study shows that: 1) the total amount of error made by students in their writing were 420 errors. Abstract

Penelitian ini adalah penelitian pengembangan yang bertujuan untuk (1) mengembangkan permainan pembelajaran bahasa berbasis pendidikan karakter dalam mengajar bahasa Inggris untuk siswa kelas 2 SMP dan (2) menganalsis kualitas dari produk tersebut sebagai sebuah strategi mengajar. Subjek dari penelitian ini adalah siswa SMP Negeri 4 Singaraja di kelas VIII B6. Model penelitian Sugiyono digunakan dalam prosedur penelitian ini. Data yang diperoleh dikumpulkan dengan menggunakan beberapa instrumen penelitian seperti; lembar observasi, kueisioner, panduan wawancara mendalam, checklist, dan rubrik penilian sikap. Data tersebut kemudian dianalisis secara kualitatif menggunakan persentase frekuensi dan data dari kualitas produk dianalisis secara kuantitatif menggunakan rumus dari Nurkancana and Sunartana. Berdasarkan perolehannya, telah dikembangkan empat permainan yang disajikan kedalam buku pedoman permainan, dan hasil dari validasi ahli menunjukan bahwa permainan yang dikembangkan dan buku pedoman permainan yang dirancang dikategorikan sebagai produk unggulan. Terlebih lagi, hasil yang sama dari kuesioner guru menunjukan kualitas produk sebagai kategori unggulan. Hasil dari kuesioner siswa juga menunjukan bahwa mereka sangat antusias dan termotivasi dengan aktifitas pembelajaran menggunakan permainan. Disamping itu, karakter yang diturunkan dari permainan yang dikembangkan sudah mulai terlihat pada beberapa siswa selama permainan tersebut dimainkan.Kata Kunci : buku permainan, karakter, permainan pembelajaran bahasa This research is a research and development study which aimed at (1) developing character based language learning games for teaching English for second grade junior high school students and (2) analyzing the quality of that product as teaching strategy. The subjects of this study were the 2nd grade junior high school students of VIII B6 class in SMP Negeri 4 Singaraja. Sugiyono design model was employed as the present research procedures. The data were collected by using several research instruments, such as observation sheets, questionnaires, in-depth interview guide, checklists, and affective rubrics. The data obtained were analyzed qualitatively by using percentage of frequency and the data of the product’s quality were analyzed quantitatively by using Nurkancana and Sunartana formula. From the result, four games which presented into a manual games book were developed, and the result of experts’ validation showed that the games developed and the manual games book designed were categorized as excellent prototype. In addition, the result of teacher’s questionnaire showed the product’s quality as excellent category. Result of students’ questionnaire also showed that they were so enthusiastic and motivated with the learning activities using game. Besides, the inherited characters from the game were starting to emerge to some students during the game was played.keyword : games book, characters, language learning games

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan permainan pembelajaran bahasa Inggris berbasis karakter beserta buku manual penggunaannya. Subjek dari penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas VII di SMP Negeri 4 Singaraja. Penelitian ini merupakan sebuah penelitian pengembanan (Research and Development). Data dikumpulkan menggunakan in-depth interview dan kuisioner yang diberikan baik kepada guru maupun siswa. Data kemudian diolah secara kualitatif sebagai dasar untuk merumuskan permainan pembelajaran berbasis karakter. Hasil dari penelitian ini berhasil mengembangkan tiga jenis permainan pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris berbasis karakter. Permainan tersebut ialah Word Bricks, Race Words dan Snake and Signs. Hasil uji validasi dari permainan dari para ahli mendapat katergory permainan yang bagus. Sedangan buku manual permainan tersebut mendapat kategory excellent. Hasil uji validasi dari guru untuk buku manual permainan tersebut menunjukan bahwa produk yang dikembangkan cukup baik. Hasil uji lapangan terhadap siswa menunjukan siswa menjadi bersemangat dan termotivasi untuk belajar Bahasa Inggris melalui permainan tersebut. Hasil uji lapanganpun menunjukan adanya karakter – karakter yang berhasil tumbuh pada siswa ketika bermain permainan tersebut.Kata Kunci : buku manual, karakter, word bricks, race words snake and signs This study aimed to develop the language learning games for English language with character base with its manual book. The subjects of this study were the 1st grade junior high school students in SMP Negeri 4 Singaraja. This research employed research and development. The data of the study were collected based on in-depth interview, observation sheet and questionnaire that was given to teacher and students. The obtained data were analysed qualitatively as the basic for developing character based language learning games. The result of the study developed three different character based language learning games. Those are Word Bricks, Race Words and Snake and Signs games. The result of validation score of the games from experts shows excellent belongs and good games. Meanwhile the book got excellent. The validation score from teacher showed that the games belong to good games and good book. The result of field try-out for students show that students were excited and motivated to learn English through playing games. Abstract

Mengintegrasikan ICT dalam pembelajaran telah menjadi tuntutan Kurikulum 2013. Namun, tidak semua guru memiliki media untuk mendukung integrasi ICT dalam pembelajaran. Padahal, integrasi ICT dapat membantu para guru untuk mengakomodasi keragaman siswa dengan menggunakan differentiated instruction. Sehingga, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk: (1) mengidentifikasi jenis latihan bacaan tambahan yang dibutuhkan oleh siswa kelas tujuh di SMP N 2 Singaraja; (2) mengidentifikasi desain latihan bacaan tambahan elektronik untuk siswa kelas tujuh yang berkemampuan dibawah rata-rata di SMP N 2 Singaraja; (3) mengukur kualitas latihan bacaan tambahan elektronik untuk siswa kelas tujuh yang berkemampuan dibawah rata-rata di SMP N 2 Singaraja. Penelitian ini dilakukan berdasarkan pada desain penelitian dan pengembangan oleh Sugiono (2011). Data penelitian dikumpulkan melalui kuesioner, wawancara, observasi, uji ahli dan studi lapangan. Hasil data dianalisa lebih lanjut dengan menggunakan analisis deskriptif dan Intrerrater Agreement Model dari Gregory (2000). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa (1) latihan membaca tambahan yang dibutuhkan oleh siswa kelas tujuh yang berkemampuan dibawah rata-rata di SMP N 2 Singaraja adalah latihan bacaan tambahan yang terintegrasi dengan ICT; (2) desain latihan bacaan tambahan elektronik untuk siswa kelas tujuh yang berkemampuan dibawah rata-rata di SMP N 2 Singaraja berdasarkan kebutuhan; (3) latihan bacaan tambahan elektronik untuk peserta didik yang lambat dikategorikan sebagai latihan berkualitas tinggi siswa kelas tujuh yang berkemampuan dibawah rata-rata di SMP N 2 Singaraja berdasarkan validitas isi, validitas empiris, kualitas tes media dan bidang. Integrating ICT in learning has become the demands of Curriculum 2013. Yet, not all of the teacher have media to support the integration of ICT in learning. Whereas, the integration of ICT may help the teachers to accomodate students’ diversity by using differentiated instruction. Thus, this study aimed at: (1) identifying kinds of supplementary reading exercises are needed by the Seventh Year Students at SMP N 2 Singaraja; (2) identifying the design of the electronic supplementary reading exercises for the slow learners of seventh year students at SMP N 2 Singaraja; (3) measuring the quality of the electronic supplementary reading exercises for the slow learners of seventh year students at SMP N 2 Singaraja. This study was conducted based on the research and development design proposed by Sugiono (2011). The data of the study were collected through questionnaire, interview, observation, expert judge and field study. The results of the data were further analyzed by using descriptive analysis and interrater agreement model from by Gregory (2000). The result of the study showed that (1) the supplementary reading exercise needed by the seventh year students at SMP N 2 Singaraja was supplementary reading exercise which was integrated with ICT; (2) the design of the electronic supplementary reading exercise for the slow learners was developed based on the needs; (3) the electronic supplementary reading exercise for the slow learners was categorized as high quality exercises based on content validity, empirical validity, quality of the media and field test. keyword : Key words: R&D, Differentiated Instruction, Slow Learners, Supplementary Exercise, Electronic Reading Exercise

Abstract

Mengingat permintaan dari kurikulum 2013 untuk mengintegrasikan ICT dalam pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris, masalah yang dihadapi oleh SMP N 2 Singaraja dalam mengintegrasikan ICT, pentingnya keterampilan membaca dan masalah peserta didik yang berkemampuan diatas rata-rata, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui (1) jenis latihan bacaan tambahan yang dibutuhkan oleh siswa kelas 7 di SMP N 2 Singaraja; (2) desain latihan bacaan tambahan elektronik untuk peserta didik diatas rata-rata; dan (3) kualitas latihan bacaan tambahan elektronik untuk peserta didik diatas rata-rata. Penelitian ini dilakukan berdasarkan pada penelitian dan pengembangan desain dari Sugiyono (2011). Penelitian ini dilakukan di SMP N 2 Singaraja. Data untuk penelitian ini dikumpulkan melalui analisis dokumen, kuesioner, wawancara, observasi, uji ahli, dan studi lapangan. Data penelitian ini dianalisis dengan menggunakan analisis deskriptif dan Itterater Agreement Model oleh Gregory (2000). Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa (1) latihan membaca tambahan yang dibutuhkan adalah dalam bentuk latihan tambahan elektronik yang dapat digunakan sebagai media untuk mengintegrasikan ICT dalam pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris. Mereka juga membutuhkan latihan baca elektronik yang didasarkan pada karakteristik peserta didik kelas tujuh yang berkemampuan diatas rata-rata. (2) desain latihan bacaan tambahan elektronik untuk peserta didik berkemampuan diatas rata-rata yang dikembangkan berdasarkan kebutuhan. (3) latihan bacaan tambahan elektronik untuk peserta didik berkemampuan diatas rata-rata dikategorikan mempunyai kualitas yang sangat tinggi seperti yang terlihat dari validitas isi, kualitas empiris, kualitas media and uji lapangan.Kata Kunci : R&D, Latihan Tambahan, Latihan Membaca Elektronik, Differentiated Instruction, Siswa diatas rata-rata Considering the demand of the current curriculum on integrating ICT in teaching English, the problem that is faced by SMP N 2 Singaraja in integrating ICT in English class, the importance of reading skill and the problems of fast learners, this study aimed at finding out (1) kinds of supplementary reading exercises that are needed by the seventh year students at SMP N 2 Singaraja; (2) the design of the electronic supplementary reading exercises; and (3) the quality of the electronic supplementary reading exercises. Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan (1) untuk mengetahui topik yang bisa dikembangkan menjadi buku cerita dwibahasa anak anak (2) mengetahui pendidikan karakter yang dapat dimasukkan ke dalam buku cerita dwibahasa anak anak (3) mengetahui kualitas dari buku cerita dwibahasa. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian dan pengembangan. Alat yang digunakan untuk mengetahui topik adalah dari silabus yang digunakan di SD No.3 Banjar Jawa, sementara alat mengumpulkan data dan mengetahui kualitas buku cerita dwibahasa adalah kuesioner, kuesioner dan penguji ahli. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ada 6 topik yang dapat dikembangkan yakni identitas diri (jati diri), kehidupan sekolah, kegiatan dirumah, keluarga, pakaian dan binatang. Sedangkan ada banyak pendidikan karakter yang dapat dimasukkan ke dalam buku cerita dwi bahasa seperti kreatif, peduli lingkungan, peduli social dan lain lain. Untuk kulialitas buku cerita, berdasarkan penilaian guru buku mendapat 194 dan dari penguji ahli 195, dengan ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa buku cerita dwibahasa ini dikategorikan sebagai buku yang sangat baik untuk kelas 6 SD. This research aimed at (1) knowing the topics that are needed to develop a bilingual children storybook, (2) knowing the values are needed to develop the students’ character in the bilingual children storybook, (3) knowing the qualities of the developed bilingual children storybook. This research was RnD. The instrument used to know the topic was by analyzing syllabus which used in SDN 3 Banjar Jawa, while instruments in collecting the data and the quality of the book were questionnaire for students, teacher and expert judges. The result shows that there are six topics that should be developed namely identity, school life, house activity, family, cloth and animal. While there was many character education that could be inserted in the bilingual storybook such as storybook were tolerance , self confidence, friendly, humble, social care, honest, positive thinking, responsibility, hard working, discipline, friendly, religion, creative, positive thinking, and environmental care. For the quality of the book, based on assessment by the teacher, the book got score 194 and by the expert judge got 195, it can be concluded that bilingual children storybook could be categorized as an excellent book for sixth grade students. keyword : Key words: Bilingual Children Storybook, topic, character education, quality.
