Abstract

Ini merupakan sebuah penelitian eksperimental yang bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah ada atau tidak perbedaan yang signifikan pada pemahaman membaca siswa kelas 3 SD Baruna Gianyar. Penelitian ini berbentuk Quasi Experimental of Posttest Only Control Group Study. Populasi yang digunakan adalah siswa kelas 3 di SD Baruna Gianyar. Terdapat dua kelas yang dipilih sebagai sampel. IIIA ditetapkan sebagai kelompok eksperimental dan mendapat Big Book sebagai teaching media sedangkan kelas IIIB ditetapkan sebagai kelompok control yang diajar menggunakan media conventional dalam proses belajar mengajar. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis t-test melalui SPSS 16.0. data hasil dari analisis menunjukan bahwa siswa yang diajar menggunakan Big Books sebagai teaching media memperoleh nilai rata-rata yang lebih baik dibandingkan dengan kelompok control. yang mana kelompok eksperimental memperoleh nilai rata-rata 83.8571 sedangkan kelompok control memperoleh nilai rata-rata 78.8571. Hasil dari t-test juga menunjukkan bahwa nilai dari t-observed (tobs) adalah 2.068 dan nilai dari t-critical value (tcv) adalah 1.7334 . Hal itu menunjukkan bahwa nilai dari tobs lebih tinngi dari nilai tcv. Oleh karena itu, dapat disimpulkan bahwa ada perbedaan yang signifikan pada pemahaman mebaca siswa kelas 3 antara siswa yang diajarkan menggunakan Big Books sebagai media dan siswa yang diajarkan menggunakan media konvensional.Kata Kunci : Big Book, media, pemahaman membaca, pembelajaran anak-anak. This is an experimental study that aims to investigate whether or not there is a significant difference in reading comprehension between students who are taught using Big Books as teaching media and thus who were taught using conventional media in grade 3 SD Baruna Gianyar. This quasi experimental study employed Posttest Only Control Group design. The population was taken from the third graders in Baruna Gianyar Elementary School. Two classes were selected as samples in this study class IIIA was designated as experimental group and got Big Books as teaching media while class IIIB was designated as a control group using conventional media in teaching and learning process. The data obtained were analyzed using t-test via SPSS 16.0. The result of the data analysis showed that the students who were taught using Big Books as teaching media gained better average score in comparison to the control group. The experimental was 83.8571 while the control group obtained the average score of 78.8571. The result of t-test also shows that the value of t-observed (tobs) is 2.068 and the value of t-critical value (tcv) is 1.7334. in other words the value of the tobs is higher than the value of tcv. Therefore, it can be concluded that there is a significant effect of the use of Big Books as teaching media on students’ reading comprehension at third grade of elementary school students in SD Baruna Gianyar.keyword : Big Book, Media, Reading Comprhension, teaching young learner.

Abstract

The emancipated curriculum emphasizes different learning opportunities tailored to integrate learning styles to meet students' comfort and learning needs. This study aims to analyze the learning styles of 5th-grade in elementary school students in Buleleng so that teachers can implement learning by paying attention to learning styles. This study used a qualitative description approach, with the research subjects being 49 students of 5th-grade from two elementary schools. Data collection used a paper-based questionnaire with learning styles dimension that had been tested for validity. After the data was collected, the data reduction process was carried out by abstracting and categorizing based on learning styles, and the last conclusion-drawing process was carried out. The result of this study is the most dominant visual learning style with 253 responses, kinaesthetic learning style with 251 responses, auditory learning style with 222 responses, and read-write with 214 responses. This proposed research to explore the learning styles of grade 5 students in primary schools, particularly in Buleleng is timely and necessary. It addresses a significant gap in existing research and has the potential to make a substantial contribution to practice, and educational equity in the region.

Abstract

This study explored the online assessment literacy (OAL) of teachers in Denpasar, focusing on categorical variables affecting literacy levels. Utilizing a descriptive quantitative approach, the research used a cross-sectional design. The population was composed of EFL teachers within the Denpasar region, data were collected from elementary to high school teachers through scored survey questionnaires. Samples were 64 EFL teachers composed of diverse demographic backgrounds. Findings indicated a predominant "Fair" level of OAL among English teachers. These results align with prior research, emphasizing the need for professional development in validity and test design. Concerns were raised about pre-service education's effectiveness in preparing teachers for digital assessments. The study underscores the importance of Online assessment literacy and suggests targeted interventions to enhance educators' assessment literacy, highlighting the necessity to adapt to evolving technological landscapes.

Abstract

This research aimed to (1) develop character based big book as a media for teaching English at sixth grade students at SD Lab UNDIKSHA Singaraja, and (2) find out the quality of character based big book developed. The subject of this research was thirty-two students of sixth grade students of elementary school at SD Lab UNDIKSHA Singaraja. The data of this research were obtained by using observation sheet, interview guide, item of questionnaire, checklist, rubric, and notes. This research was R & D (research and development) which followed several procedures based on Sugiyono model namely identifying potency and problem, collecting data, designing product, validating design product, revising design product, trying-out product, and revising product. The result of this research showed that there were five kinds of character based big book developed with the theme seasons, tourism, direction, airport, and transportation. Each big book consisted of fourteen up to fifteen pages and inserted character education in its story. For the quality of the media, it was found that the character based big book developed was categorized as excellent media. Thus, it was proper to be used as a media for teaching English at sixth grade students.

Abstract

The problem with this research is that teachers do not understand the concept of differentiated learning and assessment tailored to student's learning styles and have not appropriately identified variations in students' learning styles. This hinders the implementation of diverse learning strategies that suit students' needs. This study aims to evaluate and determine the needs of teachers and students in developing learning style-based differentiation assessment instruments. This type of research is descriptive qualitative with a case study design. The research subjects were three teachers and 17 students as pilot test subjects. Data collection was conducted through in-depth interviews with teachers and distributing questionnaires to students. The instruments used were interview guides and learning-style questionnaires. Data analysis was performed using qualitative thematic analysis techniques. The results showed that teachers did not understand the concept of differentiated assessment and had not identified students' learning styles effectively. Based on the questionnaire, grade 6 students show significant variations in learning styles. In conclusion, differentiated assessment is urgent to meet the diversity of student learning styles. This research implies the need for teacher training in designing and implementing differentiated assessments based on student's learning styles to support more effective learning.

Abstract

Pelatihan dan pendampingan ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan guru mengadakan PTK (Penelitian Tindakan Kelas) sebagai tagihan wajib sebagai bukti keprofesionalan mereka dalam mengajar. Peserta yang terlibat merupakan guru-guru Bahasa Inggris SMP di Kecamatan Sukasada.  3 tahapan telah dilakukan, mulai pemaparan materi dalam seminar, pelatihan penyusunan proposal PTK, serta pendampingan penyusunan instrument hingga pelaporan PTK. Dari hasil pre–test dan post-test yang dilakukan, terlihat bahwa pemahaman peserta mengenai Peelitian Tindakan Kelas meningkat dari 42,6 menjadi 76. Disamping hasil test, dari hasil kuesioner II, 100% peserta mengatakan termotivasi untuk membuat PTK setelah diberikan pelatihan. Selain itu, berdasarkan hasil laporan PTK yang telah selesai dibuat, keseluruhannya sudah berkualitas baik. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa pelatihan PTK yang dilaksanakan oleh tim pengabdian pada masyarakat memberi dampak langsung pada pengetahuan peserta terkait dengan PTK.

Abstract

Pengembangan media ajar inovatif sangat penting dilakukan untuk meningkatkan kualitas belajar mengajar. Sesuai dengan diskusi dengan beberapa guru, dibutuhkan pelatihan untuk bisa mengembangkan media ajar. Sejalan dengan itu, penelitian kami sebelumnya yang mengembangkan sistem Garsupati sebagai portal berbagi sumber ajar membutuhkan media ajar sebagai Learning Object. Berdasarkan kondisi tersebut, maka dilaksanakan P2M “Peningkatan Kemampuan Guru Dalam Mengembangkan Media Ajar Berbasis Videografis Sebagai Learning Object Pada Sistem Garsupati Bagi Guru Sma Dan Smk Kabupaten Buleleng”. P2M ini dilaksanakan pada tanggal 21-22 Agustus 2017 di lab Timur UPT-TIK Undiksha. Kegiatan ini dihadiri oleh 24 guru SMA/SMK se-kabupaten Buleleng. Kegiatan ini terdiri dari pemaparan materi konsep media ajar, pemaparan Garsupati, pelatihan pembuatan media ajar videografis dan pelatihan video editing. Hasil evaluasi menunjukkan bahwa 91.7% peserta pelatihan setuju bahwa pelatihan ini sangat bermanfaat dan 8.3% menyatakan bermanfaat. Selain itu 100% peserta menyatakan akan menerapkan hasil pelatihan ini di sekolah masing-masing. Sebanyak 66% menyatakan bahwa perlu pendampingan secara online, sebanyak 29.2% menyatakan perlu pendampingan secara lagsung (offline) dan sisanya menyatakan tidak perlu pendampingan lagi.

Abstract

Terbatasnya media pembelajaran khusus untuk pelajaran bahasa Inggris serta kurangnya kemampuan guru dalam memaksimalkan penggunaan media menyisakan masalah di sekolah-sekolah dasar di Kecamatan Seririt. Selama ini proses pembelajaran di sekolah dasar di Seririt hanya menggunakan flash cards yang terbatas dan penggunaan media lain dalam proses pembelajaran belum dimaksimalkan oleh guru. Berdasarkan uraian tersebut, dipandang perlu untuk mengadakan pelatihan dan pendampingan terkait penggunaan media, seperti misalnya penggunaan buku cerita dalam pengajaran. Pengajaran bahasa Inggris dengan media buku cerita, baik bagi kemampuan bahasa Inggris maupun pendidikan karakter siswa bersangkutan. Metode yang digunakan dalam pelaksanaan kegiatan yakni, metode pelatihan, diskusi dan pendampingan. Dalam pelaksanaan kegiatan, dilakukan pula observasi guna mengamati ketekunan, keseriusan, kejujuran, serta tanggung jawab peserta pelatihan. Penilaian dilakukan dengan melihat aspek-aspek sikap peserta yang mencirikan perilaku dan kemampuan peserta. Pada akhir pelatihan, diperoleh hasil bahwa kemampuan membacakan cerita bahasa inggris guru-guru pada saat pelatihan oleh kelompok peserta masuk dalam kriteria Baik. Untuk itu, pendampingan lebih lanjut guna meningkatkan kemampuan guru masih diperlukan.

Abstract

Despite the growing recognition of positive effects on children's physical, cognitive, social and emotional development through outdoor learning within early childhood education (ECE), these practices are inconsistently integrated into ECE curricula. Current study analyses bibliometric research to explore the trend in fitness training and highlights pertinent authors who conducted valuable research on this issue. Through DimensionAI system, 43 publications were found using “outdoor learning” AND "early childhood" in Titles and Abstracts fields; Among them: After the application of inclusion criteria for OA (open access) articles by English language indexed also ownership as an open repository through Dimensions we selected a total number n =18 articles which had been published between years from 2015 to date. Based on Microsoft Excel, VOSviewer was employed to construct the co-authorship networks of authors and characterize patterns in terms of citation or between subfields. Analysis indicates a marked increase in research activity over the last few years, which is reflective of an increased interest in outdoor learning. At the same time, it identifies limitations such a focus on as minority of scholars influencing outdoor learning research and limited incorporation into larger educational frameworks. More research is needed on practical challenges and for this generation, in resource-constrained settings. These results also underscore the need to broaden both representation within research and practical approaches of outdoor early education. Findings from the study of research provide a snapshot on what we know and do not know, as well promising directions for researchers to continue with their work in order to help reduce inequity.

Abstract

In the globalization era, writing skills in English become an important ability for vocational students, especially in the hospitality field which demands professional communication in writing. This study highlights the challenges that hospitality students at SMKN 1 Singaraja face in English writing skills, an area that needs to be explored from the perspective of vocational students. This study aims to find out the challenges in writing skills in English from the perspective of hospitality students at SMKN 1 Singaraja. This research uses descriptive qualitative method, where the author distributes questionnaires and describes it in written form. To support the data, the researcher also conducted interviews with students to find out more about the difficulties experienced. The subjects of this study were 15 students of 10th grade hospitality students at SMKN 1 Singaraja. The results showed that: (1) students have difficulty in writing skills especially in the vocabulary aspect, (2) students lose motivation in writing English, and (3) students have difficulty in using tenses. The implications of the findings suggest the need for more adaptive and contextualized learning approaches, including vocabulary enrichment and simple but applicable grammar learning. This research provides a practical contribution for educators to develop teaching materials that are more suited to the needs of hospitality students, to improve writing competencies that are essential in the hospitality industry.
