Abstract

This research aims to determine the effectiveness of physics learning media in the Merdeka Belajarcurriculum in improving students' critical thinking abilities. The article writing method is through literature study by integrating the PRISMA stages in it. The process of searching for relevant article sources was carried out using Publish or Perish software in the 2022-2023 interval. The metadata obtained was then analyzed using VOSviewer software to obtain a qualitative descriptive bibliometric meta-analysis. The results of the qualitative bibliometric analysis show that the physics learning media (PhET simulations, quiz platforms, MOOCs, videos, YouTube content, Adobe Animate) in the Merdeka Belajar curriculum is proven to be effective in improving students' critical thinking abilities. Apart from that, this research has been updated in the form of new ideas in bibliometric analysis on topics related to the Merdeka Belajar curriculum. The impact of this research is that it can provide updates in the world of research related to research on topics that revolve around the Independent Curriculum. This is certainly able to enrich references for future progress in the world of education, especially in the use of types of learning media that are appropriate to the curriculum used.

Abstract

This activity aims to foster physics teachers' creativity in designing contextual and meaningful learning by integrating local wisdom values into the teaching and learning process through a community service program. The activity was implemented in Trenggalek Regency, targeting physics teachers who are members of the Physics MGMP. The implementation involved three main stages: (1) dissemination of local wisdom-based learning concepts, (2) mentoring in designing creative learning tools that integrate cultural elements and regional potential, and (3) reflection and evaluation of the learning design results. The results of the activity demonstrated an increase in teachers' understanding and skills in identifying local potential as a resource for physics learning, as well as their ability to package this information into engaging, innovative, and relevant media and learning scenarios for students. Furthermore, this training successfully fostered a collaborative spirit among teachers in developing creative learning ideas rooted in Trenggalek's local values, such as utilizing natural phenomena, traditional arts, and community activities as contexts for physics. Thus, this activity provides a real contribution in improving the professional competence of physics teachers and encouraging the realization of character-based and sustainable learning based on local wisdom

Abstract

This Community Service activity aims to improve the skills of senior high school physics teachers in Sidoarjo in understanding the structure, writing techniques, and process of submitting scientific articles to accredited journals. The program was implemented using a Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach, which involved identifying partner needs, planning materials, conducting workshops, providing assistance with article drafting, and evaluating the program. The evaluation was conducted using a Likert-scale questionnaire, participant observation sheets, and brief interviews to measure participants' understanding and involvement. The training results showed an increase in teachers' understanding of the main components of scientific articles and an improvement in their ability to write the introduction and methods sections through guided practice sessions. The majority of participants gave “strongly agree” and “agree” ratings to the usefulness of the training, the quality of the material delivery, and the smooth implementation, with the highest percentage reaching 60%. The lowest score of 28% appeared on items related to the dynamic electricity material. Observations also showed that participants were more confident in drafting manuscripts after receiving direct assistance. Overall, this program was effective in improving teachers' basic scientific literacy and has the potential to be a strategic step in building a culture of sustainable scientific publication within the Physics teacher working group, thereby encouraging the creation of scientific works that meet the standards of national and international journals.

Abstract

The siwalan dawet ice is a form of local wisdom that contains rich physics concepts and has potential applications in physics learning. To date, there has been no study that explicitly explores the physics concepts embedded in this local wisdom. Therefore, this study aims to identify and analyze the physics concepts involved in the process of making the siwalan dawet ice. This study employed a qualitative descriptive method through an analytical approach. Data were collected using three techniques: literature review, observation, and interviews, and were subsequently triangulated to enhance the validity of the findings. Qualitative data analysis was conducted through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results reveal that the process of making the siwalan dawet ice involves several physics concepts, including hydrostatic pressure, Pascal’s Law, Archimedes’ Law, density, and temperature and heat. These findings indicate that the siwalan dawet ice has strong potential to be integrated into physics learning within the Merdeka Curriculum as a local wisdom–based learning resource that supports contextual and meaningful learning. This study implies that incorporating local cultural practices into physics instruction can provide concrete learning experiences, enhance student engagement, and serve as an alternative approach to facilitating students’ understanding of abstract physics concepts. Further research is recommended to examine the effectiveness of this learning resource in improving students’ motivation and learning outcomes.
