Abstract

This article explores the study of market revitalization that needs to be carried out to analyze the socio-cultural and socio-economic aspects of the Padang Lua Nagari market. This study uses qualitative research methods with a case study type. This study was analyzed using the concept of revitalization used by Gouillart and Kelly in Santoso, namely organizational change aimed at spurring corporate growth by aligning the organization with its environment. As a result of this research, it is necessary to revitalize the market. The physical market may not be difficult due to the advancement of development technology today, but what is difficult is to make the market better and not cause conflict between the relevant stakeholders. The conclusion of this research is to accommodate the revitalizing of the market, an in-depth study of aspects of spatial planning so that a quality and beneficial market for the community can realized.

Abstract

The problems of Simarasok UMKM were identified: (1). The products have not been maximized due to marketing weaknesses, capital, and the purchasing power of woven/songket products tends to decrease, (2). Embroidery UMKM are part-time livelihoods for unmarried women and housewives, (3). There is no group of innovative skilled workers, (4). Marketing strategies are more on personal relationships, close proximity and less online sales, (5). Product quality/quantity can be improved, but constrained by external internal factors. The research used qualitative techniques and descriptive analysis; informants were collected by purposive sampling. Data findings, there are specialties of UMKM: 1). The embroidery industry has developed and is carried out by almost half of the female population, 2). Sugarcane and tobacco processing industry, conducted by men. There is a difference between the type of industry and the gender of the actors, which is not interchangeable. 3). Based on scale, the industries are small. Interestingly, UMKM development is carried out through an integrated information system. Although located in rural areas, Nagari Simarasok has utilized spatial technology as an integrated information system in mapping the condition of its UMKM. In this Nagari, a complete map with specifications such as maps of industrial asset ownership, maps of agricultural land potential, maps of economic potential and maps of natural resource potential can be accessed. With the completeness of the map, access to buyers, consumers and or other parties can more easily access it.  This Nagari breakthrough has not even existed in urban villages in the city center.

Abstract

Kecamatan Pauh merupakan salah satu kecamatan yang petaninya melakukan pembudidayaan nilam sebagai tanaman yang menghasilkan komoditi yang diperjual belikan di pasar internasional, yaitu tanam nilam untuk bahan produk minyak atsiri dengan ini tentunya petani sangat antusias dan berminat bercocok tanam nilam untuk terus menghasilkan bahan produk minyak atsiri demi meningkat perekonomian keluarga. Penulisan penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pada kondisi kehidupan sosial ekonomi para petani nilam di daerah Limau Manis Selatan, Kecamatan Pauh, Kota Padang. Data yang diperlukan dalam penulisan skripsi ini diperoleh melalui penelitian kepustakaan dan lapangan. Penelitian kepustakaan dilakukan dengan cara membaca buku teks, penelitian sebelumnya, jurnal dan bahan-bahan bacaan lainnya yang berkaitan dengan penelitian ini, penelitian lapangan dilakukan dengan cara mewawancarai informan penelitian. Kehidupan sosial ekonomi petani nilam di daerah Limau Manis Selatan, Kecamatan Pauh, Kota Padang, sampai saat ini bertolak belakang atau tidak sebagaimana mestinya mereka lebih sejahtera dengan besarnya nilai jual daripada biaya produksi seharusnya mereka mendapatkan untung besar namun hal tersebut tidak terwujud dikarenakan ada beberapa faktor penghambat yaitu khusus untuk Sumatera Barat, di beberapa daerah, tanaman nilam juga telah lama dikembangkan oleh petani. Sebagian besar pengolahannya masih dengan cara tradisional dan individual. Dengan cara seperti ini, terkadang membuat mutu dari produk minyak atsiri kurang memenuhi standarisasi yang diharapkan, sehingga berpengaruh terhadap nilai harga dari minyak atsiri tersebut

Abstract

Being a songket weaving craftsman is not only done by women, but men can also do it. This research aims to determine the existence of men as songket Pandai Sikek weaving craftsmen. This research uses a qualitative approach with phenomenological methods. Data collected using observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation studies. The results of this study found that men began to become songket weaving craftsmen in Pandai Sikek village during the monetary crisis in Indonesia in 1998. The craftsmans wages are not too great. They made the loom work an additional work a side job. At this time, economic factors are the main driver of men deciding to become songket weaving craftsmen. Men become weaving craftsmen are people who have the skills to weave. Men also have the potential to become songket weaving craftsmen pandai sikek. Effort made to maintain this existence among other things, learning to weave from a young age, doing work according to what the boss orders, completing woven cloth on time, arraning strategies for working on woven cloth, developing innovative looms from traditional to ATBM (Alat Tenun Bukan Mesin), maintaining the quality of woven cloth, maintain good relationships with boss and co-workers.

Abstract

This research aims to identify strategies to improve the community’s economy through environmentally based tourism and social media in Nagari Sungai Pinang, Pesisir Selatan Regency, West Sumatra. This study used qualitative methods with observation, in-depth interviews, utilization of documentation, and FGD. As an analytical tool, this research used Anthony Giddens’ structural theory of observation practice which is not only determined by the agent but also by structure. According to the research findings, the strategy for improving the community’s economy through environmentally based tourism and social media can be seen in the utilization of the community’s diverse tourism business potential, which includes tourism beaches, tourism mangrove forests, tourism nautical (sea), and tour island. Homestay, Manjuto Beach, and attractive islands such as Pamuntusan Island, Pagang, Marrak, Karanggo, and Erong Bay have all contributed to the growth of business tourism. Its development is aided by local institutions and local expertise from an environmental standpoint. There are other opportunities for enterprises that may be established without damaging natural beauty, including tourist firms that involve underprivileged people. The strategy for enhancing the economy of the public is to include all components from the outset, given that the location is common land in line with the customs that apply in the community of Minangkabau West Sumatera. Apart from that, social media is also used as a promotional tool by involving the younger generation.

Abstract

The NGO certainly has its own way of carrying out community empowerment activities. When asked what model of empowerment was used by the three NGOs in West Sumatra, they basically built all the empowerment models, including the Rothman Empowerment model. After further investigation, the application of the Rothman empowerment model to the empowerment program carried out by NGOs was not fully implemented by the NGOs Jemari Sakato, YCM-M and LP2M. The three NGOs only used several indicators of the Rothman empowerment model in the empowerment program carried out by the NGO. For this reason, it is necessary to explain how the application of the Rothman empowerment model was carried out by the three NGOs considered that not all indicators of the empowerment model could be realized by NGOs. The purposes of this research were to describe the implementation of Rothman’s Model on every empowerment program which held by the NGOs. To describe the data collected, the researcher uses the perspective “Rothman's Three Models of Community Organizing”. This Researched used qualitative approach. The selection of informants was done by using purposive sampling technique and data collected techniques with in-depth interviews, observations, and document studies. The results from this research are the NGO of Jemari Sakato used Locality Development as its model of Rothman, YCM-M used Social Planning model of Rothman, and LP2M used Social Action Model of Rothman with nine indicators. This research has never been done before by other authors

Abstract

Community empowerment is important for local institutions in realizing Nagari Tageh. Tageh means it must be flexible in the fields of health, education, food, economy, socio-culture, information, disasters, bundo kanduang, security and controlling community diseases in Nagari Sungai Kunyit. This research aims to identify a model for empowering local institutions in the Nagari Tageh program in Nagari Sungai Kunyit. This research analysis tool uses community empowerment theory according to Jim Ife. The research methodology uses a qualitative approach and case studies, the techniques used are observation, in-depth interviews, documentation studies and focus group discussions (FGD). This research shows that the empowerment model does not involve the community in a participatory manner. The empowerment model is based on local institutional analysis, namely the empowerment of formal Nagari government institutions and the informal institution Kerapatan Adat Nagari (KAN) as an intermediate goal of empowering community groups . The empowerment model in realizing Nagari Tageh is the empowerment model in realizing Nagari Tageh is the local community involvement model and the media utilization model. A model of community involvement by identifying local institutions, related to the values and institutions available in the nagari, for example youth institutions, the density of nagari customs. Meanwhile, the media utilization model is to identify media activists in the nagari, both individually and institutionally, who actively use social media, and then collaborate with the nagari or tourism business actors. the local community involvement model and the mass media model. This model functions to empower formal Nagari government institutions and informal Nagari traditional institutions (KAN) as an intermediary goal for empowering community groups. Novelty in this research is a model of community empowerment based on local institutions.

Abstract

Penelitian ini mengkaji upaya pemberdayaan masyarakat melalui Community Based Tourism (CBT) oleh Pokdarwis di Kelurahan Kampung Bandar, Pekanbaru. Menggunakan perspektif teori Strukturasi Anthony Giddens, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis upaya Pokdarwis dalam pemberdayaan masyarakat serta mengidentifikasi struktur yang memungkinkan dan menghambat dalam implementasi CBT. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kualitatif dengan pendekatan studi kasus, menggunakan teknik pengumpulan data melalui wawancara mendalam, observasi, dan studi dokumen, dengan pemilihan informan secara purposive dan analisis data menggunakan model Miles dan Huberman. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan upaya pemberdayaan yang dilakukan meliputi peningkatan posisi dan peran masyarakat, pembukaan peluang usaha, dan pelibatan masyarakat dalam setiap kegiatan. Terdapat enam struktur yang mendukung program ini, yaitu: tradisi gotong royong, dukungan berbagai pihak, ketersediaan modal awal, pemberian sanksi informal, lokasi strategis, dan keterbukaan masyarakat. Sementara itu, teridentifikasi tiga struktur penghambat yang menghambat, meliputi: keterbatasan modal operasional Pokdarwis, mundurnya banyak anggota dan ketidakaktifan dalam organisasi, serta sejarah kawasan sebagai lingkungan kumuh yang masih mempengaruhi pengembangan pariwisata

Abstract

This research was conducted to find out the communication strategy carried out by the Padang City BPS in communicating the population census policy to the community. This research was based on the implementation of the 2010 population census policy which was a major event held simultaneously in all regions of Indonesia including the City of Padang. To achieve effective communication where all the people of Padang City are willing to participate in the success of the 2010 population census policy without being missed or not recorded, a carefully planned communication strategy is needed. The communication strategy that has been implemented by Padang City BPS managerially has gone through the stages of communication strategies starting from the planning stage to the evaluation. The form of communication conducted by BPS in Padang City in communicating census policies to the public is media communication, namely by socializing the population census policy through existing communication media. While the form of communication in communicating the population census policy to the community is face-to-face communication with the people of Padang City through structured interviews using questionnaire instruments.

Abstract

Changes in the development paradigm in the era of democratization and regional autonomy, from centralistic to participatory, provide more opportunities for community involvement at the local level starting from planning, implementation and evaluation. One form of community involvement in tourism is through the development of tourist villages. One of these tourist villages is located in the city of Padang Panjang, West Sumatra, named Kubu Gadang. In the development of tourism, the role of stakeholders consisting of government, society and the private sector will not be separated from it. The key player in the development of Kubu Gadang as a tourist village is the Padang Panjang City Tourism Office, the subject is the Pokdarwis Kubu Gadang community and the Kubu Gadang community because they are actors and hosts in the Kubu Gadang tourist village. The context setter is the District Head of East Padang Panjang and, the Village Head of Kelurahan Ekor Lubuk, and the crowd is the Padang Panjang Archive and Library Office, the media and the Bank. Forms of involvement occur during planning and use of meetings as a medium for engagement.
