Abstract

Understanding student characteristics and the process of designing learning according to students with special needs are the main weaknesses of lecturers in inclusive classes. Students often complain that lecturers' learning is still monotonous, lack of variation in learning strategies, and the absence of learning media so that students experience difficulties in the process of visualizing the content of teaching materials in class. The research objective was to develop Learning Progression during Modeling-Based Teaching (LP-MBT) to help students with learning difficulties in higher education. The research method used in research and development follows Thiagarajan's (1974) 4-D model but is only applied to 3-D, namely the define, design, and developing stages. This preliminary research study involved three student respondents with special needs and twelve regular students from Elementary School Teacher Education students at Djuanda University. The research was conducted during the odd semester of the 2020/2021 academic year. The process of collecting research data was carried out using questionnaires and semi-structured interviews through online or online applications. The research results are as follows; (1) the define stage, the researcher analyzes the problems of students with special needs in the learning process in the classroom; (2) in the design stage, researchers designed Learning Progression during Modeling-Based Teaching (LP-MBT) in inclusive classroom learning based on theoretical studies and the needs of students with learning difficulties; and (3) the developing stage, the researcher validates the experts and conducts limited trials for 15 students online through the zoom application. Suggestions from this study, the Learning Progression during Modeling-Based Teaching (LP-MBT) design can be used for students with special needs, especially learning difficulties because it can activate the learning content visualization process for students and provide opportunities to express more equitable opinions.

Abstract

AbstractThis literature research aims to find solutions related to efforts to increase the attention of students, especially at the initial level, grades 1, 2 and 3 of their learning tasks during the learning process takes place using visual learning media. This study uses the method of review of integrative literature. This method combines various empirical and research-based articles, books, and other published literature on the use of visual media in increasing the attention of students learning in the early grades. This literature research concludes: (1) Attention is the process of selecting information that is voluntarily controlled by the subject (conscious), or it can be due to the influence of some external events that are sensed (unconscious); (2) The process of attention occurs through selection, awareness, and control; (3) The visual media model used should vary both the learning media made by the teacher and the media from the internet. Visual media in the form of infographics is the most recommended visual media model; (4) The implications of the function of visual media on sensing memory include: (a) memory sensors can only process information in a limited amount, so that the visual media used to present learning material needs to be designed so that key information can be received properly by students; (b) sensing memory that has the highest absorption power is the sense of sight, so combining visual information offerings can increase the amount of information that the sensory memory can receive.

Abstract

There aren't many studies that address ABK's speech delay, but research reports on similar topics can be found easily. Therefore, the author concentrates on explaining the teacher's way of dealing with children's speech delays. This study aims to find out how teachers and parents deal with children with speech delay disorders. This research was conducted using qualitative case study method. The results showed that some of the children's characteristics were unable to understand and respond to peers, parents, or adults around them; they were less likely to talk (quiet), unable to form simple sentences when asked something; they often used vague, rigid, or stammered language because they lacked vocabulary; and they usually used confused language when speaking. To encourage delays in children's speech, strategy treatment is carried out: 1) training children to speak correctly, slowly, and repeatedly; and 2) always pay attention to grammar when speaking.
