Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of training and preparatory activities for the Mathematics Olympiad as an effort to enhance students’ logical and systematic thinking through extracurricular activities at SMA Negeri 1 Deli Tua. The training was carried out using diagnostic teaching and intensive problem-solving drills, supported by inquiry-based learning strategies. Conducted over three days, the program involved 30 students selected based on prior performance and interest in mathematics. Results indicate a significant improvement in students’ average scores, rising from an initial 36.5 to approach the Minimum Mastery Criteria (KKM) of 75. Additionally, 80% of participants reported increased confidence and readiness to face mathematical competitions. The findings suggest that structured extracurricular mathematics programs play a vital role in fostering critical thinking skills and preparing students for high-level academic challenges such as the Mathematics Olympiad.

Abstract

This study aims to explore in depth the errors and obstacles experienced by students in learning the System of Linear Equations in Two Variables (SLSV), and to provide strategic solutions to improve their understanding and skills. SLSV is a fundamental topic that is very important for developing logical and analytical thinking skills. However, various studies show that students, especially at the vocational high school level, still face significant challenges, particularly when converting story problems into mathematical models, formulating strategies, and being thorough in completing the process. This study applies a qualitative descriptive method involving 25 students from grade X of SMK Swasta Citra Harapan located in Deli Serdang Regency. Primary data were collected through written tests (pre-test and post-test) and interviews with mathematics teachers. The findings of this study indicate that students' initial understanding of SLSV is still minimal, as reflected in the low percentage of correct answers in the pre-test (Problem 1: 32%; Problem 2: 48%). The most frequent errors made by students include the inability to convert story problems into mathematical models, errors in the elimination or substitution process, and errors in algebraic operations. The proposed approach is to implement integrated learning strategies, including Problem-Based Learning (PBL) to reinforce concepts, the use of interactive media to provide motivation, and the habit of systematically recording steps through the Think Talk Write (TTW) approach to improve procedural skills and the accuracy of answers. This study concludes that successful mastery of SPLDV requires a comprehensive strategy that combines conceptual, procedural, and motivational aspects.

Abstract

Indonesia's B50 biodiesel policy creates a legal dilemma between national energy policy sovereignty and international trade obligations under the WTO system. This research analyzes the legal implications of the B50 policy, which impacts the reduction of CPO export volumes and triggers allegations of protectionism from trading partners, particularly the European Union. Through a normative juridical approach employing statutory, conceptual, and comparative methods, this study examines the consistency of national regulations with WTO principles such as most favoured nation (MFN), national treatment, and transparency, while evaluating the legal justification space through development space principles and General Exceptions (Article XX GATT). A comparative study of Argentina's and Brazil's experiences in biodiesel disputes at the WTO reveals two different strategies: litigation based on technical documentation and diplomatic approaches with sustainable development narratives. This research finds that Indonesia has legal justification space for the B50 policy, but requires strengthened normative arguments, policy transparency, and technical document preparedness to anticipate potential disputes. These findings provide strategic contributions to formulating Indonesia's legal position in multilateral forums through the establishment of cross-sectoral task forces, strengthening policy narratives based on global justice, and optimizing international legal cooperation so that the B50 policy obtains both legal and international legitimacy.

Abstract

Purpose – This study aims to develop student worksheets (SW) by integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI) into the DEEPIR model, aligning with an outcome-oriented instructional framework to improve HOTS and learning products (innovative learning media and scientific publications).Methodology – This study employed a design research approach, implemented through three main stages: preparation and design, design experiment, and retrospective analysis. The research participants were 22 students of Mathematics Education enrolled in the Learning Media course. The research instruments included observation sheets, validation and practicality sheets, HOTS-based tests, and product assessment rubrics. Data were obtained through learning observations and analysis of the validity, practicality, effectiveness, and results of student products. All data were analyzed descriptively and inferentially to assess the quality of the student worksheets.Findings – The study's results demonstrate high levels of validity, practicality, and effectiveness. The n-gain value is 0.783 (high category). All students (100%) successfully produced innovative learning media products that met the criteria for content and pedagogical validity. In addition, 82% of students published scientific articles in nationally accredited journals with a minimum Sinta 4 rating. These findings indicate that AI-integrated DEEPIR-based student worksheets significantly improve HOTS and students' ability to produce media products and scientific articles.Contribution – This study produce a replicable model that educators can adapt to design learning instruments that foster cognitive engagement and academic products. Strategically, this study emphasizes the importance of adopting AI-based learning tools to strengthen the quality, relevance, and global competitiveness of higher education.
