Abstract

At this time, the school is conducting online learning from home due to the Covid-19 pandemic, but teachers and students still do online-based or Virtual Class learning through various applications, one of which is Google Classroom. The implementation of Google Classroom is still very public for learners, because usually teachers teach face-to-face. The purpose of this article is to determine the effectiveness of the Virtual Class implementation with Google Classroom in the Covid-19 pandemic Physics study. The method used in the form of charging poll through the Google Form in junior high school class VII-IX randomly represents one province namely West Java. From the results of a descriptive survey the results of the Google Classroom are less effective in physical learning, but are effective in virtual class learning and can be used as a Covid-19 pandemic learning app. So it can be concluded that students still need teachers directly in the process of learning physics.

Abstract

The misconception of physics is a difference in understanding concepts known to students with actual concepts. The student's physics misconception profile must be identified for the student to have a correct understanding of the concept—diagnostic tests as a solution to uncover the causes or factors of misunderstanding the physics concept in students. One type of diagnostic test is 4 tier tests. The purpose of this study was to see if the 4th Tier-Magnetic Diagnostic Test (4T-MDT) can help students identify misconceptions. The study was R&D with a 4D model. The 4T-MDT instrument consists of 20 multiple choice questions. Once the 4T-MDT instrument is validated, an average assessment of 84% is obtained, which means it is worth using and implemented to students. The test results showed that as many as 15 items on the 4T-MDT instrument were valid, had high reliability, different good power, and a good difficulty level. As a result, the 4T-MDT instrument may be used to identify the profile of student physics mistakes about magnetic fields.

Abstract

This study aims to identify strategies for developing HOTS assessment instruments in high school physics subjects. The research employs bibliometric methods and qualitative approach to analyze various journals published between 2019 and 2023. The analysis results indicate that the development of HOTS instruments is driven by the need for 21st-century skills and is supported by findings from international surveys such as PISA and TIMSS. The most commonly developed assessment forms include test questions in the form of multiple choice, multiple choice with reasoning, and essays. These questions are designed with HOTS characteristics in mind, including HOTS indicators, operational verbs, physics problem contexts, stimuli, and Bloom's taxonomy. Physics topics that are frequently developed include subjects such as temperature and heat, harmonic vibrations, sound and light waves, thermodynamics, as well as static and dynamic fluids. Commonly used research methods for this development include Borg and Gall's R&D method, the 4D method, qualitative descriptive methods, and the ADDIE method. HOTS instrument undergoes a series of feasibility tests and analyses, including validity testing by validators, statistical validity tests, reliability tests, difficulty level tests, discrimination index tests, Rasch model analysis, analysis using the Alpha Cronbach formula, and distractor analysis. The findings of this study provide valuable insights for developing valid, reliable, and relevant HOTS assessment instruments that meet the needs of high school physics education.

Abstract

The ability to solve physics problems is still relatively low. Students more often directly use mathematical equations without performing concept understanding analysis. Therefore, learning strategies and media are suitable for physics learning. The purpose of this research is to develop interactive animated videos combined with flipped classroom learning models. This research uses Research and Development (R and D) methods, with 4D development models. The average validation test results are 90,91%, with a good category. So, the animation physics video can use in a flipped classroom. This physics animation video makes it easier for students to learn temperature materials and their changes without being limited by space and time. These physics learning animation videos are highly interactive and can explain abstract physics concepts and integrate with flipped classrooms.

Abstract

Physics is a subject that contains several abstract concepts, one of which is the topic of light waves. This topic can be better understood through learning media to help students grasp the material more effectively. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of Android-based mobile learning in physics, integrated with the 5E Learning Cycle model, as a support tool for teaching light wave material in senior high school. The research employed a Research and Development (R&D) method using the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation). Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics by calculating the percentage scores from expert validation, student responses, and evaluation tests. The results showed an average score of 73.95% from media experts, 89.65% from content experts, and 69.44% from language experts. The overall expert validation average was 77.68%, indicating that the media is suitable and usable in schools. Additionally, the average score from student response tests was 92.71%, reflecting a very positive reaction from students. Thus, this mobile learning media is adequate for teaching light waves to 11th-grade high school students. The findings imply that integrating pedagogically grounded digital tools into science education may enhance conceptual understanding, promote independent learning, and offer scalable alternatives for remote and blended learning scenarios.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of Self-Regulated Learning (SRL) on the physics learning outcomes of high school students through a meta-analysis of national scientific publications. The approach used is a descriptive method with meta-analysis techniques applied to data from various studies implementing the SRL model. The analysis results show that the application of SRL has an effect with an average effect size of 0.252 (small category). Based on the education level, the effect size is 0.241 (small category). Based on regions, the highest effect sizes were found in Bali (0.485) and South Sumatra (0.665), both categorized as large effects. Regarding related variables, the general effect size of SRL is 0.221 (SD = 0.221; small to moderate category), while the effect size of SRL on learning outcomes is 0.261 (SD = 0.261; small to moderate category). These findings indicate that the implementation of SRL has a meaningful impact on improving physics learning outcomes among high school students.
