Abstract

Coffee fruit skin contains antioxidant compounds that can repair damaged tissues, especially those of reproductive or-gans. This study was designed to assess to what extent the metha-nolic extract of coffee fruit skin affected sperm characteristics and testicular histology in mice receiving 15% ethanol for 15 days. It used 25 male mice aged four months and employed a completely randomized design with two controls (K) and three treatments (P), namely K1 (without ethanol), K2 (15% ethanol), P1 (15% ethanol and the methanolic extract of coffee fruit skin, or MECS, at 125 mg/ kg BW), P2 (15% ethanol and MECS 250 mg/kg BW), and P3 (15% ethanol and MECS 500 mg/kg BW). These treatments were administered orally with a 1 mL disposable syringe for 15 days. The parameters observed were sperm characteristics (viability, morphology, and sperm count) and the microscopic structure of the testicles (lu-men area, diameter, and area of seminiferous tubules). These data were then analyzed using the one-way ANOVA, continued with the LSD and Duncan’s tests (P <0.05). The results showed that P2 (250 mg/kg BW) substantially improved sperm count (86.5x105±1.73 cells/ mL), sperm viability (87.26±0.05%), and the proportion of normal sperm morphology (93.33±0.004%) of mice with 15% ethanol-in-duced sperm damages. Testicular histology also confirmed improve-ments in spermatogenic cells, as evident from the lumen, diameter, and area seminiferous tubules after receiving P1 and P2. In conclu-sion, the optimum dose of the coffee skin extract for improving sperm quality and microscopic structures of mice testicles is 250 mg/kg BW.

Abstract

The use of eco enzymes can enhance the quality of cleaning products, such as soap. These enzymes, including amylase, lipase, and protease, serve as catalysts and natural antibacterial agents, helping to break down carbohydrates, lipids, and proteins during the decomposition process. This study aims to evaluate the effect of adding eco enzymes on accelerating the saponification reaction and improving the quality of the produced bar soap. The method employed is the cold process, with variations of eco enzymes added at 0 g, 13 g, 26 g, and 39 g. All bar soap samples were analyzed according to the SNI 3532:2021 standard, and one sample that met this standard was selected for further enzymatic analysis. Of the five test parameters performed, soap products with the addition of 13 g, 26 g, and 39 g of eco enzymes complied with all SNI 3532:2021 standards. However, the soap with 0 g of eco enzymes did not meet one of the standards for total plate count microbe contamination, which produced a result of ≤ 4000 CFU/g. Additionally, lipase and protease enzymes were detected in the soap with the addition of 26 g of eco enzymes. The hardness levels of each soap variation were as follows: 1.3 N for 0 g, 1.7 N for 13 g, 2.03 N for 26 g, and 1.47 N for 39 g of eco enzymes.

Abstract

Cigarette smoke is a source of free radicals that can damage cells and tissues of the respiratory tract. Tridax procumbens L. has potential as an antioxidant because it contains flavonoids that play a role in counteracting free radicals. The study aims to determine the potential of Tridax procumbens L. as a source of antioxidants against SOD and MDA levels in Wistar rats exposed to cigarette smoke. The study used Wistar rats (25 heads) with 5 treatments consisting of K (aquadest), KN (exposed to cigarette smoke), P1 (exposed to cigarette smoke and given 100 mg/kg BW extract), P2 (exposed to cigarette smoke and given 200 mg/kg BW extract), and P3 (exposed to cigarette smoke and given 300 mg/kg BW extract). Extract administration was carried out on days 1-21 and cigarette smoke exposure was carried out on days 8-21. Parameters observed consisted of flavonoid content test (by KLT method, total flavonoid content, total phenolic content), body weight, SOD levels (whole blood method), and MDA levels (TBARs method). Data were analyzed by one-way ANOVA test (P<0.05) followed by Duncan post hoc test. The results showed that Tridax procumbens L. contains flavonoids with an Rf value of 0.23. Body weight showed no significant difference (P>0.05), but SOD and MDA levels were different between treatments (P<0.05) with the most optimum dose of 300 mg/kg BW. The conclusion shows that a dose of 300 mg/kg BW of ethanol extract of Tridax procumbens L. can act as a natural antioxidant from exposure to cigarette smoke in vitro.

Abstract

Adopting e-commerce in the business sector requires technological resources such as IT infrastructure, internet connectivity, software and hardware systems, as well as qualified IT personnel which often poses financial challenges for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). This study investigates whether technology adoption by SMEs translates into competitive advantage and improved performance. The research emphasizes the Technology–Organization–Environment (TOE) framework, which highlights the role of technological readiness, organizational capacity, and environmental factors in shaping competitiveness. Combined with the diffusion of innovation theory, this framework is expected to guide SMEs in developing effective strategies for technology adoption. A quantitative approach was applied using survey methods and data analysis through Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). Purposive sampling yielded 398 SME respondents across Indonesia. Findings show that entrepreneurial orientation and technological readiness significantly influence SME performance—measured by personal wealth and firm growth—through competitive advantage. Entrepreneurial orientation exhibits a full mediation effect, while technological readiness demonstrates partial mediation. These results suggest that within the TOE framework, technology, organization, and environment must first generate competitive advantage before exerting a significant impact on SME performance. This study confirms that integrating TOE with diffusion of innovation theory provides a strategic foundation for SMEs to adopt technology effectively, enhance competitiveness, and achieve sustainable growth.

Abstract

This study examines the mechanisms of traditional music transmission at Sanggar Jiwa Etnik Blambangan in Banyuwangi, a rapidly growing sanggar (studio) where most members are young learners. The research focuses on the learning process, supporting factors, and documentation strategies that can be replicated as a teaching model for curriculum development in arts institutions. Specifically, this study supports plans to establish an arts campus in Banyuwangi. The research employs a participatory ethnographic approach, structured interviews, and creative organizational analysis to explore pedagogical interactions, sanggar structure, and innovations in musical practice. The theoretical framework integrates Lave & Wenger’s community of practice, Florida’s creative organization concepts, and an ethnomusicological approach to analyze musical structures and their social contexts. Findings reveal that Sanggar Jiwa Etnik Blambangan employs effective methods to simplify complex musical patterns, incorporates cultural context in each learning session, and makes traditional music more engaging and accessible to younger generations. This process not only enhances the accessibility of traditional music education but also fosters greater interest and active participation among sanggar members. These findings reinforce the potential of the sanggar’s learning model as a reference for arts curriculum development, particularly in the context of establishing an arts campus in Banyuwangi.

Abstract

Hypoxia, a condition characterized by insufficient oxygen supply, can cause tissue damage in vital organs, including the liver. The liver is particularly vulnerable to hypoxic injury, which may result in impaired function and hepatocyte death. Purslane (Portulaca oleracea L.) is known for its antioxidant properties, largely attributed to its flavonoid content, which can inhibit the production of reactive oxygen species (ROS). This experimental study aimed to evaluate the effects of acetone extracts of purslane herb on hepatic histopathological changes in hypoxia-induced rats. Five experimental groups were established, each consisting of six rats (n = 6): normal control (N), hypoxia (H), hypoxia treated with dexamethasone (H+DEXA), hypoxia treated with purslane extract at 150 mg/kg body weight (HP1), and hypoxia treated with purslane extract at 300 mg/kg body weight (HP2). Purslane extract was prepared using the acetone maceration method. Hypoxia was induced by exposing rats to a gas mixture of 10% O₂ and 90% N₂ for 10 consecutive days. Liver tissues were processed using paraffin embedding and stained with hematoxylin–eosin for histopathological evaluation, focusing on hepatocyte necrosis, inflammatory cell infiltration, and hemorrhage. Statistical analysis was performed using one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) followed by Duncan’s post hoc test. The results showed that the 300 mg/kg dose of purslane extract significantly reduced hepatocyte necrosis (35.33 ± 2.52 cells), inflammatory cell infiltration area (2488.51 ± 112.82 µm²), and hemorrhage area (1031.10 ± 17.38 µm²) compared with the hypoxia group (p < 0.05). In conclusion, acetone extracts of purslane demonstrated significant hepatoprotective effects in hypoxia-induced rats, suggesting their potential as a natural therapeutic agent for the management of hypoxia-related liver injury.

Abstract

This study aims to reveal the aesthetics of the concept of Tritangtu (the trinity) in the Tarawangsa music performance in Kampung Pasir Biru, Rancakalong, Sumedang. Tarawangsa is a ritual ceremony related to religious magic to honor Keursa Nyai (goddess of fertility). The music in this ritual is not just an accompaniment or ritual compliment but even deeper shows a strong connection with the concept of Tritangtu, namely the world of heaven, the human world, and the underworld. This study uses the ethnographic method, by performing an in-depth recording of the event. The recording is to find out in more detail why Tarawangsa music is played, in what context, and how do people believe in it. In addition, the concept of Tritangtu, belief in three main elements (metacosm, microcosm, and macrocosm) shows a thought of the Rancakalong people about the balance of human life with God and nature. The study results show that the cultural customs of the Pasirbiru community, in general, indicate how this balance is maintained. They believe there will be a significant impact if one of the Tritangtu elements is not fulfilled, and Tarawangsa's music is an essential element in this effort.

Abstract

Limited physical contact which was initially caused by the COVID-19 pandemic at the beginning of 2020 resulted in The library having temporarily closed its services. The library as an institution which has the task of managing collections professionally using a standard system to meet the educational, research, preservation and recreation needs of its users must make changes. This research aims to determine the benefits of online media and digital libraries to improve library services. The method used is literature study and observation of the YouTube and Biodigilib applications. Online media is a technology product that can be used as a means of information and also a communication tool to improve library services. The ease of use of social media (Youtube) can be implemented and used in libraries, both to promote collections and information held by libraries or as a medium of communication between libraries and users. The Biodigilib digital library application is the result of technology, this application cannot replace 100% of conventional libraries. Digital libraries can be used as a hybrid library service as a companion. These two technological results, namely online media (Youtube) and the biodigilib application, can be used as a solution in libraries if there is limited physical contact.

Abstract

This research investigates the influence of Sharia-based compensation management and reward systems on employee performance and job satisfaction at Bank Perkreditan Syariah At Taqwa Tangerang. A quantitative approach was employed using the census method, gathering data from all 85 employees across various organizational levels and functional departments through structured questionnaires measured on a five-point Likert scale. Data analysis utilized Structural Equation Modeling with the Partial Least Squares approach to examine direct relationships and mediation effects. The findings reveal that Sharia-based compensation management significantly influences both employee performance and job satisfaction. In contrast, Sharia-based reward systems similarly demonstrate a significant positive impact on both outcome variables. Job satisfaction is an important predictor of employee performance and serves as a partial mediator in the relationships among compensation, reward systems, and performance. The integrated model explains substantial variance in job satisfaction and employee performance, confirming that human resource practices grounded in Islamic principles of justice, transparency, and Sharia compliance constitute fundamental drivers of employee outcomes in Islamic microfinance institutions. The research validates that compensation systems that address both material adequacy and spiritual authenticity, combined with reward mechanisms that integrate material recognition and spiritual development opportunities, generate superior motivational effects compared to conventional approaches that emphasize purely economic considerations.
