Abstract

Kusumodilagan is an area renowned for its iron market, where the livelihoods of the community predominantly rely on iron processing. The various types of iron produced reflect the character of individuals within the society, along with the accompanying phenomena and challenges. Community activities, characterized by the sounds of iron work, have served as a source of inspiration for musical creation. This study aims to explore how to develop a musical presentation that encapsulates the lives of iron workers in Kusumodilagan. The methodology employed in this research is participatory observation, which seeks to understand and recognize the diverse sound characteristics and their social phenomena as the primary approach in the preparation of musical compositions. The findings indicate that the sounds of iron can serve as a compositional idea for musical harmony, while also engaging iron workers in the creative process. The objective of this study extends beyond artistic experience; it emphasizes the recognition of community members' existence and fosters a sense of togetherness among them.

Abstract

Vocal Style Variety in Keroncong Asli: Interpreting the Aesthetic of Ngeroncongi through the Performances of Mus Mulyadi, Toto Salmon, and IsmantoAbstractThis study examines the differences in vocal styles in interpreting Keroncong Asli through a comparative analysis of three Indonesian keroncong maestros: Mus Mulyadi, Toto Salmon, and Ismanto. All three sing "Kr. Hanya Untukmu" by Sapari and WS Nardi, but with significantly different vocal approaches. This research employs a qualitative method with a textual music analysis approach, combined with listener reception data as a form of triangulation to strengthen the validity of the findings. The analysis results indicate that Mus Mulyadi displays an expressive vocal style with aggressive inflections and abundant ornamentation, Toto Salmon sings the song with precise articulation and follows standard notation. At the same time, Ismanto exhibits a smooth vocal character with measured and understated improvisation. These three approaches are further examined through the perceptions of Keroncong music enthusiasts to uncover the aesthetic values that shape the vocal identity of Keroncong Asli. We use the concept of ngeroncongi—a distinctive singing style that is expressive yet deeply rooted in traditional aesthetic structures—as a framework for interpretation. This study concludes that individual creativity, as long as it remains within the aesthetic boundaries of the genre, plays an essential role in shaping vocal styles within the evolving and adapting tradition of keroncong. Keywords: Original Keroncong; Vocal Style; Ngeroncongi; Musical Aesthetics

Abstract

This study explores the aesthetics of gedruk music, focusing on the tonal blend of bonang, kempul, and saron within campursari. The integration of gedruk reflects the cultural dynamics of an evolving society, enriching the music while offering a fresh identity that revitalizes local culture. In campursari performances, gedruk creates a new spatial and temporal form, opening unique musical horizons. Using a descriptive qualitative method with a phenomenological approach, this study examines how gedruk emerges and transforms campursari. The sounds and rhythms of gedruk produce a distinct aesthetic that enriches the genre. Data collection includes document and video analysis of campursari performances featuring gedruk, alongside direct observations and interviews with performers and groups. Aesthetic analysis aims to understand how folk art adapts into popular music, focusing on rhythm, harmony, expression, and contextual elements. The study finds gedruk introduces a fresh aesthetic to campursari, blending traditional elements into popular music. This fusion simplifies complex tonal structures, reducing monotony for performers. Psychologically, this simplicity creates a fresh atmosphere and enhances enthusiasm among performers and audiences, demonstrating how folk elements like gedruk can redefine and enrich modern campursari music.

Abstract

Financial statement fraud is a serious problem in Indonesia, threatening investor confidence and damaging the integrity of public companies. This phenomenon causes huge losses for investors and stakeholders and erodes confidence in the capital market. This study aims to identify how the five elements of the fraud pentagon—pressure, opportunity, rationalization, capability, and arrogance—contribute to financial statement fraud. Using a quantitative approach, this study analyzes data from public companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) during the period 2021-2024. The sample was selected using purposive sampling, and the data were processed through logistic regression analysis using SPSS 30 software. The data used were obtained from annual financial reports, yielding 120 samples. The results indicate that only rationalization and capability are significant factors in fraud, while pressure, opportunity, and arrogance are not significant in financial statement fraud. In conclusion, this study confirms that the fraud pentagon is a comprehensive and useful framework for detecting potential fraudulent practices in financial statements. Therefore, companies are advised to invest in improving their internal control systems and ensuring effective supervision to prevent fraud.

Abstract

Coffee fruit skin contains antioxidant compounds that can repair damaged tissues, especially those of reproductive or-gans. This study was designed to assess to what extent the metha-nolic extract of coffee fruit skin affected sperm characteristics and testicular histology in mice receiving 15% ethanol for 15 days. It used 25 male mice aged four months and employed a completely randomized design with two controls (K) and three treatments (P), namely K1 (without ethanol), K2 (15% ethanol), P1 (15% ethanol and the methanolic extract of coffee fruit skin, or MECS, at 125 mg/ kg BW), P2 (15% ethanol and MECS 250 mg/kg BW), and P3 (15% ethanol and MECS 500 mg/kg BW). These treatments were administered orally with a 1 mL disposable syringe for 15 days. The parameters observed were sperm characteristics (viability, morphology, and sperm count) and the microscopic structure of the testicles (lu-men area, diameter, and area of seminiferous tubules). These data were then analyzed using the one-way ANOVA, continued with the LSD and Duncan’s tests (P <0.05). The results showed that P2 (250 mg/kg BW) substantially improved sperm count (86.5x105±1.73 cells/ mL), sperm viability (87.26±0.05%), and the proportion of normal sperm morphology (93.33±0.004%) of mice with 15% ethanol-in-duced sperm damages. Testicular histology also confirmed improve-ments in spermatogenic cells, as evident from the lumen, diameter, and area seminiferous tubules after receiving P1 and P2. In conclu-sion, the optimum dose of the coffee skin extract for improving sperm quality and microscopic structures of mice testicles is 250 mg/kg BW.

Abstract

The use of eco enzymes can enhance the quality of cleaning products, such as soap. These enzymes, including amylase, lipase, and protease, serve as catalysts and natural antibacterial agents, helping to break down carbohydrates, lipids, and proteins during the decomposition process. This study aims to evaluate the effect of adding eco enzymes on accelerating the saponification reaction and improving the quality of the produced bar soap. The method employed is the cold process, with variations of eco enzymes added at 0 g, 13 g, 26 g, and 39 g. All bar soap samples were analyzed according to the SNI 3532:2021 standard, and one sample that met this standard was selected for further enzymatic analysis. Of the five test parameters performed, soap products with the addition of 13 g, 26 g, and 39 g of eco enzymes complied with all SNI 3532:2021 standards. However, the soap with 0 g of eco enzymes did not meet one of the standards for total plate count microbe contamination, which produced a result of ≤ 4000 CFU/g. Additionally, lipase and protease enzymes were detected in the soap with the addition of 26 g of eco enzymes. The hardness levels of each soap variation were as follows: 1.3 N for 0 g, 1.7 N for 13 g, 2.03 N for 26 g, and 1.47 N for 39 g of eco enzymes.
